Basma Hotel Aswan

The hotel is located on a hillside, and there were packs of stray dogs on the road leading up to it. Overall, the hotel's decor is actually quite decent, but the rooms are more like guesthouse standard, especially the bathroom. The bath towels felt like they'd seen better days, I'd suggest bringing your own disposable ones. Other bedding seemed clean enough. The biggest issue, though, was the water – whether it was in the bathroom or for the coffee at breakfast, it had a very strong, unpleasant odor. It's about an 8-minute walk to the Old Waterfall Hotel and the Carrefour Chinese restaurant, which is fairly convenient.

This hotel is excellent! Perched on a hill, it offers breathtaking panoramic views. I recommend checking in early to fully enjoy the hotel's amenities and atmosphere. The environment is lovely and quiet, and it's easy to get a taxi. The only minor issue was that the shower pressure was a bit low.

Out of the five hotels I stayed at in Egypt, this one wasn't cheap, but the experience was just okay. The photos made it look great, but the hotel itself isn't that big. It's located on a hill next to the Old Cataract, so walking back means a steep climb. I even had an unreliable driver try to charge extra just because of the hill – unbelievable! 😓 The front desk staff's attitude was so-so, and they gave me a ground-floor room. I seriously suspect the housekeeping staff tampered with my foundation bottle. The cap was open, and a few drops had spilled out. The more I thought about it later, the more I realized it definitely wasn't my doing. If you're staying here, I'd recommend keeping your personal items locked in your luggage! The buffet restaurant's food was mediocre, but the coffee was decent.

We arrived late at night, but there was still a front desk attendant who helped us with our luggage. The room was clean and spacious, and we slept comfortably. The location is also great.
