Great hotel. Modern, clean, but with a lot of character. There is a great restaurant on site, along with with a separate cafe for genuine barista coffee and breakfast.

One of the most satisfying things about being on vacation is waking up and relaxing in bed with a cup of coffee. Even if it's in-room, powdered creamer kind of coffee LOL. Not only is there NO coffee in the rooms, but you are then forced to get dressed and go to the lobby to buy a coffee. On our trip, the employee had called in sick! Thankfully the front desk person did brew a pot of coffee, but still had to wrestle myself out of the very cozy bed, get dressed, brush teeth, etc. just to get a cup of coffee. Please put coffee makers in the room! Otherwise, the property is amazing :)

Easy friendly check in. Overall great vibe. The only thing I would have liked was more than one bath towel per person in the room.

Love the vibe here! And the cafe for coffee and breakfast tacos in the am. The two bicycles for guest use were amazing too, a bonus!

The service in check-in was impeccable. Very friendly young lady. Even gave me some tips on where to go when I asked about appropriate places for my husband and I and our 17-year-old. When I had to call down to front desk because I could not get the parking app to work on my phone, She immediately took care of it for me. The next day went down and asked it desk again for more information and the gentleman working was super helpful and even gave me an address of a parking garage so we could Google map our way to where we were going. The building is all concrete, so it has its benefits as you don’t hear people above you or really the outside. The most noise comes from people talking loudly in the hallways, but that didn’t really happen much. For being in downtown Austin, this is the quietest hotel one could expect in my opinion. And I’m really picky about things like that because I sleep very lightly. We ate Sunday brunch and it was delicious and later ate dinner and it was equally delicious. All staff and servers were all helpful, prompt and attentive. If I ever go back to Austin and stay in this downtown area, that is where I will pick. The balconies are an additional added bonus if you like to get some fresh air outside. I am so glad that they revitalized this 1940s urban industrial building that used to house a carpenters union into the artistic beauty that it is. As a sidenote, parking for oversized vehicles is available on the sides of the building.

The Carpenter definitely has a cool feel. Not like your standard Hyatt/Mariott where you can predict everything about the property. I love when it feels like an artist created a hotel and that's what it feels like here. I will say that a few things in design that just missed like the bathroom faucet is too low/close to the sink so washing your hands is a squeeze. Also the shampoo/conditioner in the shower is mounted in such a way that you cannot fully press down to get an ample amount (of course this may have been done on purpose so people don't abuse it, but still). But overall a great hotel with great staff and restaurant right downstairs.

This hotel has unique architecture and modern design. We arrived on a holiday so some amenities were not available. I wish there had been space in the mini fridge for some personal items, and it was frustrating that you can't fill a water bottle from the sink. Other than those small items I thought the hotel worked well for our stay.

I was there for three nights, and the cleaning staff never came to clean my room.

Check in was good. I didn’t like that was given a handicap accessible room. The fixed shower head did not work. We had to use the hand held one. The location is great. Took me about 10 minutes to walk to the trail. It’s a good spot if traveling with pets. The grounds and room were clean. I like the decor. The coffee bar is ok. Didn’t get to try the restaurant.

Unique Austin Hotel in the Barton Springs/Zilker Park area. Walkable to restaurants, local bars, sculpture garden, walking trail along Lady Bird Lake, Barton Springs and Zilker Park. Definitely recommend!
