Banff Ptarmigan Inn

This hotel is extremely old. Given its location on the main road of a small town during peak tourist season, this was the most expensive and worst room I've ever stayed in. The hotel towels were very dirty, but thankfully the bedding was okay (though I didn't inspect it too closely; you can't be too picky when traveling!). The front desk staff's attitude was mediocre, not particularly friendly. All the hotel facilities are very, very outdated. On the bright side, parking is free, and they give guests a bus ticket for the town, but only if you ask for it.

Right on Banff Avenue, it's super convenient. There's a popular, delicious restaurant right next door with really friendly staff. The flowers hanging outside the entrance are vibrant and eye-catching, and the building has a lovely European style. I'd definitely stay here again!

The room, while a bit dated, was generally clean and had a decent feel to it. The best part is its proximity to the main street, making it super convenient to get anywhere. We could quickly drop off our shopping at the hotel and head back out. Calgary's tax is lower than other places, so it's a great spot to grab some sports brands. There's also a cafe right outside the hotel that serves a fantastic flat white, and we even bought some beans to take home. All in all, aside from the slightly high summer prices, everything else was perfect.

The hotel room was like a maze. The room was old, and the one they gave us was right next to the neighboring hotel, so we could barely open the blinds. The air conditioning was incredibly loud when it was on. I won't be booking here again.

This hotel's location is incredibly convenient. You can catch the bus to and from Calgary Airport right at the hotel. Across the street is the Banff High School bus terminal, and the 8x bus to Lake Louise also stops there. Plus, the hotel provides free bus tickets, so you can reach most attractions by public transport, and there's free parking available too. On top of that, the front desk staff were incredibly friendly and helpful.

This hotel is conveniently located directly across from the Banff High School Transit Hub, which is the starting point for buses to Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, the Banff Gondola, and all the major ski resorts. Plus, it's just a short walk to Banff's main commercial area. The only downside is that the soundproofing in the rooms isn't great. However, this is a common issue with most hotels in Banff due to their wooden construction.
