The Madrones

Staying at the Madrones is like being in your own little world. Rooms are large and well apportioned. The onsite restaurant, Wickson, was absolutely delightful. We were lucky enough to be there on Thursday for Locals Night and enjoyed delicious lobster rolls. Brian one of the owners was helpful with reservations and accommodations. Bernadette, the onsite manager, was attentive, friendly and helpful with all our needs. We enjoyed having the onsite tasting room. If visiting Anderson Valley, I highly recommend this property. It has been about 10 years since I last stayed at Madrones, and I will return again when able.

Hotel was nice-- cabins were spacious, but very limited food and beverage and shops . No coffee on premise except in the rooms . It might have been because it was January 1st and limited places are open

Nestled within the majestic Redwoods of Anderson Valley in Philo, Mendocino County, California, The Madrones and it's sister property The Brambles was the perfect location to host our company retreat. The quiet and understated luxury of this property/hotel along with the owners/proprietors (Jim and Brian) and their friendly and accommodating staff (Kila, Bernadette and others) made us feel so welcome and so comfortable. The Madrones is unique as it presents itself with a touch of European grandeur in the natural beauty of the emerald forest. The Madrones/Brambles is one of those rare instances where the website photos do not do the actual property justice. It more than exceeded our expectations. The Brambles provided the ideal environment for our company retreat. Located nearby in a grove of Redwoods the property had an event "Pavillion" that hosted our 20 person staff more than comfortably. The building also included a kitchen which were convenient for meals during retreat sessions. The accommodations at the Brambles while outside looked rustic were the epitome of comfort. The Wickson Restaurant on the property headed by Chefs Jason Azevedo and Jenny provided our catering and all of delicious meals all of which were made with locally sourced ingredients were on par with what you would find in the neighboring Napa-Sonoma counties. We highly recommend this property as an excellent location to get away from the hustle of city life to unwind, relax and to bond with your team!

Wonderful stay. The room was clean and well supplied with a nice amount of light breakfast foods (fresh fruit, yogurt and a fantastic sweet bread). If only the restaurant was open more since there was limited availability throughout the town for dinner. The garden area was wonderful and a great place to enjoy an early morning coffee.

Very easy check in, got key and map as we were in lodge just up the road Great inside the ac was quiet but powerful and nice to walk in from 90+ Amenities perfect for couple and although near road you only see woods and traffic noise minimal

The Madrones was our favorite spot on a 3 night road trip up the coast. We had the master and it was really spacious and secluded. Beautiful room with a large bathroom with a great shower. There's also a little kitchenette stocked with breakfast foods which was a very nice touch. The grounds are lovely. We shopped in the adorable gift shop, ate the most divine pizza at Wickson, ventured to Navarro vineyards for wine tasting (and on site at Long Meadow Ranch), and visited Hendy Woods State Park to walk amongst the Redwoods. Totally enjoyable, relaxing stay. We will be back.

We loved this place. We went in February 2023 and knew ahead of time that many of the local places were closed and that service would be limited, but we needed a quiet retreat. the grounds are lovely, we only heard one other person and listened to birds and nature. We had booked a private tasting at the Lichen Estate, which is nearby. This was fantastic. the Accommodations at the Madrones were quite comfortable and lovely. We stayed in the Kitchen Room, which was large and commodious. The beds were comfy, the heat was perfect. I would definitely visit again.

Buyer beware: if you book this hotel and cancel your booking, even well before the 21 day cancellation deadline, the hotel will charge you a 50.00 cancellation fee. Not only is their cancellation policy unusually strict - 21 days before the date of the trip to receive a full refund, but it turns out that the so called full refund isn't truly a full refund given the 50.00 fee. That feels like a real rip-off.

Beautiful inn! Great property, really lovely staff! We went a bit off season and midweek so the restaurant was not open, check their hours if you want to enjoy it as well it has very good reviews. The apothecary was a very beautiful and fun add on. Highly recommend!
