Visited this pub a couple of times before and had no issues but unfortunately had a pretty disappointing visit yesterday. We quite enjoyed it here before but our last visit has been pretty off-putting. Ordered mains and a drink, had a glass of wine poured into a very cloudy, dirty looking glass. Asked for a new one and the barman was quite defensive and instead tried to convince me it was clean and just not polished. Ended up keeping the murky glass as it felt too much trouble and didn’t want to argue over the bar which is what it started to feel like. Table we sat at was also sticky. Mains came out fine, quality of food is actually very nice. Proceeded to order desserts for which we waited over an hour to arrive. During this time the staff were stood around chatting, making jokes etc amongst themselves. There were tables of staff eating meals during their breaks in front of the bar which is fine in my eyes but is a bit insulting when paying customers have been waiting over an hour to receive their meal. I had to approach the bar to chase for our desserts and was asked to present a receipt, it transpired that the ticket never seemed to make it to the kitchen . I’ve worked in hospitality for years so I understand mistakes happen, however how they are dealt with speaks volumes about an establishment. There was no refund or goodwill gesture for the poor service and overall felt the staff didn’t have great customer experience skills. It seemed some of the younger staff didn’t really take their job seriously and are there for a laugh. I wouldn’t return after this visit.

Travelling solo I stayed here 01/01/24 in room 33 (twin room)before heading to airport the next morning & then as it was decent also booked to stay 06/01/24 in room 51 (double plus single) on returning from airport early hours on 07/01/24 After reading the reviews on here I was a little apprehensive but decided to give it a try and thankfully can say it was worth a stay. When I arrived on both dates, due to the time and pub was shut, I phoned the telephone number and someone met me in the courtyard with keys. On entry into room both dates, room was lovely and warm. (Air conditioning) Curtains are blackout so room remains dark in Morning. Kettle and tea/coffee/sugar/sweetener sachets available with 4 individual biscoff biscuits. Beds clean and comfortable and whilst pillows a little on the bulky side (maybe they could invest in some new ones) it was a decent sleep. Bathroom a little chillier than bedrooms but has heated rail. Shower in room 33 was better pressure than room 51 but both plentiful hot water. Towels provided were clean and large enough. Parking was free and close enough to the rooms. At check out (11am) in courtyard there’s key post them in to. It would have been nice if a bottle of water would’ve been included. I would stay again but there’s no breakfast included so next time the price would depend on if I booked this property or not as nearby hotels do include breakfast!

Friend & I went for light meal early evening. Meal was good but service was excellent. Keanu is a real asset to the restaurant, nothing too much trouble and very engaging. Like to comment when a young member of staff takes the time to offer great service, they should always be encouraged and recognised.

Only giving 1 star as can’t give none just went for lunch with my partner.we ordered 1 starter which was soup and 2 mains fish and chips and stuffed chicken after 50 minutes my soup came out but the 2 mains also came out so spoke to the manager who halfheartedly apologised she took the 2 mains away and said they would be recooked so after 15 minutes my soup dish was taken and we where asked if we where ready for are mains we said yes please but after 50 minutes still nothing so my partner went back to the manager and asked for a refund the manger said she would go and see if it was ready but guess what no it wasn’t the chef said the order wasn’t put in right so who’s to blame absolutely awful we had are money back and that’s it no apology

Currently in the hotel, it’s 10.00 and we are all trying to get some sleep we are in the bottom rooms and upstairs are moving around so much we can hear everything. The walls are paper thin and when a door closes our room almost shakes. It’s very cold in the bathroom and motel looking very cheap! The car park is awful full of pot holes and is so near the main road all you can hear is traffic. The restaurant looks nice until you go and look around there was loads of crumbs over the sofas and the menu is mainly fried food we ate elsewhere. Would we come back mmmmm NO!

I met four ex-colleagues here for lunch. The carparking was horrendous - badly laid out and poorly signed. Bays not clearly marked out so many cars taking up more space than necessary. Not a place for people with a mobility problem. Our table was upstairs - the only loos are downstairs, and the lift was out of order. Getting up and down the stairs was very difficult for me as the hand rails were covered with decorations so had to get a hold of them. The menu is not exciting - though there were a couple of interesting specials. Not somewhere I'd rush back to..... the layout and decor way outweighs the food. Not
