Ye Olde Smokehouse

We went there because we wanted to try their scones and some tea. It was 2pm that time. So we went in and was asked with a rude tone 'what do you want?' so we said we wanted some tea. then he shoo us away with his hand gestures. and said now only serves lunch. tea is 3pm to 6pm and keep shooing us away. this man is so rude. hope they goes bankrupt soon with attitude.

Great, traditional experience with lovely antique-style furniture etc, and loads of cozy nooks to hide away in with a book. The bathrooms could do with an update. Restaurant dinners are superb but breakfast is so-so and very Asian style with chicken sausage and beef bacon. The biggest drawback is the poor soundproofing. This should be a hotel that markets to couples and adults only. An entire night was disturbed by a screaming spoilt kid two doors down.. so much for peace and escapism. Badly behaved kids were also in abundance in the restaurant so one had to pick the time to eat carefully. Two nights here is good.

Searching in Google for my lunch with my partner, I found Ye Olde Smokehouse and decided to gave it a try. Well to our suprised, we were welcomed with a “warm” hospitality borderline rude by the front office manager which was an old guy. Certainly feels like looking down upon us by the way he treat us. But lo behold, eventhough our mood kinda disrupted by the treatment, we still enjoyed their lunch, the fish and chips and smoked salmon was nice until, my partner noticed something swimming inside their Malt Vinegar. Its two maggots who decided to do a cameo and say Hi. To the management, this was appalling and disgraceful to the residents and also customers who paid their hard earned money yet treated with rudeness and maggots for their lunch. People should avoid this premises until the manager was sorted out and their quality improved

Well it was an ‘interesting’ 2 night stay, but not one that we will repeat. The hotel certainly has some history and in many ways is a throw back to former days. The fact is that it is a bit run down - not well maintained, paintwork peeling off, lights that don’t always come on [we had to get that fixed twice], and the bedroom was very musty. The bed linen was so musty that it was quite overpowering. But if all you want is a 5 star modern chain hotel, then this is NOT the place for you. That said, the location, among many walking trails, is excellent. The views, on a clear day, are fascinating. A pre-dinner drink, be it an aperitif or a whisky, by the roaring log fire, was very welcome. However, we were rather disappointed with the food - my beef pie looked good but the meat was so tough that I had to leave half of it. Similarly, my lamb shank on day 2, looked tasty - until I tried it. Again, I barely managed half of it. On the other hand breakfast on the terrace was thoroughly enjoyable. The staff of young, inexperienced helpers did their best, and one cannot fault their helpfulness and enthusiasm. Perhaps a kinder direction from the Management would have been appropriate.

THE place to stay in Frazer Hill, Malaysia, especially if you appreciate old British charm! The quality of food served is just brilliant, and the hospitality provided by the staff headed by Hafidz is next level. For anyone who visits it will be a memorable place where you would want to revisit. Also don’t miss out on the scones and tea.

I waa really looking forward to a relaxing and memorable weekend with my US friend at Ye Old Smokehouse, Frasers Hill. Having paid RM402 for a King suit, I was really stunned and speechless when I checked into the property. The property was rundown and poorly managed. Furniture and fittings were really OLD and WORN OUT. Certainly not the 4 or 5 star I was expecting. My honest opinion, I would rate it 1 or no star at all. The price of RM401.95 is totally rediculous. Furthermore, it was stated in the letter that Management reserves the right to release the room if no full advance payment was made. If I had known the poor condition of the Smokehouse, I would have saved my hard earned money and stayed some place else. The staff did not seem to care about guest's needs. When we arrived, background music was playing very loudly. We could even hear it clearly in our room upstairs. We told staff it was too loud and he asked us in return : is it? 😱😨🤔 At dinner, there was wind blowing into the dining room. When asked, the staff replied that the wind was from the opened kitchen door. I had to ask them to close the kitchen twice before they closed it. 😨 😨🤔🤔 At breakfast my friend spilled some coffee while pushing down the coffee strainer. A staff came to take the empty jam plate and did not offer to clean the spilled coffee. Food is also very expensive. Only consolation was the (one each) scone for the hi tea. For dessert, we ordered an apple crumble each which took forever to be served. We went back to our room and a staff delivered to our room 10 minutes later. First and last time for us. We will NOT return.

The environment of the old cottage is something to remember. Very instagrammable indeed. I wanted to try their famous Beef Wellington, however it was sold out. The Resident Manager recommended beef steak instead. I ordered as suggested and for the price that I paid, the food is certainly over-priced for its taste.

Not recommended this place at all!staff was rude especially the manager (old uncle) by the name of Hafiz I think..who always called other ppl "kak" or "abang" like plssss...u think u r still young huh.. Rooms were badly maintained. Toilet leaking here n there. We can't use our shower as water clogged in the floor..yucky..Carpet were worn-out and smelly. Room floor was oily and you need to wear slippers 24-7 otherwise your feet will feel sticky. Got a complimentary fruit but rotten fruit..yeah Complimentary breakfast was served in harshed manner..u r not enjoying d food at all.the taste was so so only. Breakfast served outdoor.One day we requested to change the venue to indoor as the rain started to pour..when the waiter escalated the matter to the rude manager he got yelled like there was no yesterday. I can see that other staff are really scared with the manager. They are working in non harmonious n fear environment. Overall bad hospitality and if you think that you can have a nice and peaceful place worry free.. forgot this place! Parking being conquered by the manager car..the BMW..by right u should give d priority to the guest to park and put your bulky car somewhere else. . So selfish n inconsiderate..we re not there to try figure out ourself the safe parking place .it's your responsibility to do that! What you will get is rude treatment , unapologetic, unwelcomed feeling from the old man and unnecessary stress! If I can give the true rating for this place it's probably the -1 star but unfortunately there's no negative score for the review...one star for me still high for the awful n the unnecessary tense that we've experienced. In summary..pls pls pls avoid this terrible place!

Our family went to the smoke house hopping to enjoy some coffee tea and desert but was treated horribly by the manager Mr A Hafiz. He is very rude and disrespectful to us. More like chasing us away . How can a manager be so undiplomatic. After some consideration his assistant allowed bus to to sit but the manager is still very unapologize. He shouldn't be running the smoke house. He behaviours is unacceptable. We spent well over 150 ringgits but very disappointed with him. Luckily his assistant is more obligated. Avoid the smoke house if Mr. Hafiz is there .
