My daughter and I stayed Mothers' Day weekend at The Lang House in Burlington VT while attending my granddaughter's college graduation. Everything about the place is superb: a beautiful, historic ambience, attentive service, delicious and impeccably presented breakfast selections, thoughtful service such as bringing coffee and freshly baked cookies to our room first thing in the morning. A special Mothers' Day breakfast was arranged at our request, and every request was responded to promptly and with great courtesy. The location is great, within easy wolking distance to downtown and the train station. The room we had was very comfortable and the public areas (sitting area, garden room for breakfast) gracious and appealing. In short, we loved staying at the Lang House.

It was one of my worst experiences staying in a b&b — usually I seek them out for the uniqueness and character to lend to my solo travels — this was not it . The pillowcases were dirty — had to have them change it . The coffee mugs were dirty and not swapped out after use . Kept making excuses— low on staff . But that is not my problem. I have to leave for a family emergency— they said oh sorry you had to give 14 days advance notice—- if I knew 14 days ahead that there was going yo be an emergency…..

A beautiful bed and breakfast in Burlington, Vermont. This has a great location, within walking distance of many shops and restaurants. Our room was clean, comfortable and spacious. The Employees we encountered were exceptional. Breakfast was excellent! I have a Gluten Allergy and received Gluten Free cookies at check in, and accommodations were made to provide me with a tasty Gluten Free breakfast. I would visit again, if I am ever in the area!

On a recent trip to Burlington, my wife and I spent a couple of days in The Lang House. This is a great B&B. It is conveniently located and a short walk (about 10 minutes) to downtown Burlington (please know that you will be walking up hill on the way back to The Lang House). At night, you are pretty much left on your own, which was not a problem. Of course, the big plus IS the breakfast. With 3 choices every morning there is something for everyone. Each choice is delicious. It is a great place to stay when in Burlington.

Rooms & staff are very nice and breakfast options are good and tasty. But, it is on the main street and the edge of the college campus. Thus, it is noisy, especially in the mornings, and could be unbearable on the wknd if there is a college party nearby. The location is convenient to Church St. (pedestrian only) and the waterfront but you pass a lot of homeless people along the way. Convenient laundromat 2 blocks away.

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lang House! It was heavenly~ The hospitality was excellent…from the owner to the concierge and the breakfast staff. We were warmly greeted upon arrival and provided with a detailed explanation of what to expect. We were given a tour of the main floor and escorted to our third floor room (Vincent). We were offered help with our bags and a plate of homemade cookies. The stairs are carpeted, and we did not mind the exercise! Our room was the smallest in the main house, but it never felt crowded. There was ample space for our bags and clothes (no dresser necessary, as there were drawers under the bed). The first thing I noticed was how fresh the room smelled. There was a skylight above the bed, which unfortunately could not open. The soothing music playing on the music channel contributed to the ambiance. The bed was comfortable, and the bathroom was small, but immaculate. It is separated from the bedroom by a space-saving pocket door. I wish there had been a towel ring beside the sink, but we managed. The shower took a little while to warm up but was plenty hot. I noticed that the bathroom products were environmentally friendly, and the bathrobes and slippers were a pleasant surprise. Recycle bins are located in the hallway and water bottles are on every floor. While we did not see the Carriage House, the décor of the main house was quaint and lovely. There are two sitting rooms and a breakfast room. The Inn offers a guest refrigerator with post-it notes available so guests can label the items they store. No stone is unturned at the Lang House! Our room included the most detailed and organized directory I have ever seen! Our breakfast was scrumptious! I liked how the sign up for breakfast seating and menu options are posted the day before. Every serving starts with a sweet treat (ours was pumpkin bread) and coffee. There are several juices in decanters to self-serve. The homemade granola with fresh fruit and yogurt was wonderful and so plentiful. Likewise, my husband enjoyed his scrambled eggs, home fries and choice of toast. Delicious! From the time I made the reservation, there was plenty of communication from the Inn. The innkeeper emailed a list of recommended local restaurants so we could plan ahead. There were text messages just before checking in with helpful and explicit information, as well as the keycode. The location of the Lang House is excellent and within walking distance of the Church St. pedestrian mall, shops, restaurants, theater, colleges and the waterfront. Simply wonderful and highly recommended!

I can't say enough about Lang House! I was in Burlington for 2 nights to visit my son at UVM. I stayed in the McClurkin room in the carriage house. Ethan, who was at the desk when I arrived. warmly welcomed me, showed me to my room and provided all the details I needed for my stay. Very convenient to have fresh tea and fresh bottles of spring water right outside the room. Everything was comfortable, cozy and clean. It was a bit humid outside but the window a/c took care of that. There was also a table fan that I used both nights as I'm used to ceiling fans. It was also extremely quiet and, with the shades down, very dark even in the morning. Breakfast was delicious and Victoria, who served me both mornings, was lovely and attentive. I was able to easily walk to the lake and Church street but also had my car in the provided parking space. I can only imagine how warm and cozy it is in the winter so I will definitely try to go back then!

The Inn is very nice and the staff are very friendly and accommodating. The room on the third floor had a view of the lake, but was very small. No air conditioning and was hot and stuffy. Breakfast was delicious! The location was very good with a bit of a walk to downtown. Would not to walk back at night. The Inn is also located next to a Fraternity House and although it was loud during the day, it was quiet at night. Overall we had a pleasant stay and the Inn is a great choice for visiting Burlington. We would probably choose a bigger room next time.

The Lang House was our home-away-from-home for a quick 3-night getaway as we explored the Burlington/Stowe area for the first time. Since we live in a Queen Anne Victorian, we chose to stay in the carriage house in the Galloway room, to get a different feeling than what we're used to. Our room was cozy, but not cramped, and decorated with warm colors and peaceful accents (I wish I could find the same watercolor bird duvet cover for my bedding!) I loved the reading chair and lamp! Having the tea service set up right outside our door in the entrance hall, along with an afternoon cookie delivery, took it up another notch in my book. Every staff member we interacted with was friendly and welcoming, especially ZuZu, the resident Shih Tzu. Before dinner, and after a day of enjoying our area travels, we'd unwind on the cozy sun porch in the main house with a game of Rummy 500 and a beer from the Lang House selections. Breakfast each morning was abundant, creative and satisfying. The proximity to town made it an easy walk each night for dinner, where we enjoyed some exceptional meals at Leunig's Bistro for fantastic French cuisine, El Cortiijo for casual Mexican and Istanbul Kebab House where we tried Turkish food for the first time. My husband said the lamb kebobs were the most tender and delicious lamb he'd ever had. All the restaurants were suggested to us by our innkeepers and none disappointed. We took the short drive to Colchester to walk the causeway across Lake Champlain. Being a weekday, and fairly chilly, we had that hike all to ourselves. The ride to nearby Stowe was well worth it, and we took the gondola to the top of the mountain to take in the views (We don't ski, but wanted to feel on 'top of the world.') We stayed for a while to enjoy a Bloody Mary in the Cliff House restaurant before making our descent. We visited the downtown Stowe area shops and found a few treasures. Having the Lang House as our home base was perfect! We hope to return again when we can experience Burlington in the warmer months, and take a dinner cruise on Lake Champlain.
