Thank you for the opportunity to describe my Inn at the Quay experience. I was booked for a day procedure at Royal Columbian Hospital at 6:00AM on Saturday May 20. Because I was travelling from out of town and had to be driven home (as a requirement of the procedure) I elected to travel by train to Vancouver and then New Westminster on the day before, Friday. On Tuesday May 16 I booked a room at your hotel for the night of the night of Friday May 19 for $389.00 ex-taxes. My plan was to take a cab to the Hospital and then my daughter was then going to drive to town to pick me up and drive me home after the procedure on Saturday. After travelling to New Westminster I had time to kill because I called the Inn at the Quay to see if I could get an early check in but was told that you were very busy and that was not possible. The hospital recommends attending with only your care card for security reasons. For this reason I had my BC Care Card and the credit card I used to book the room in my cellular phone case. During my wanders I lost my phone. Fortunately I had a significant amount of cash so I got a cab immediately and attended at your hotel. I explained my situation to the clerk on the desk and she said that she could not check me in without the credit card I used to book the room. I asked her if you would charge that card with the room price if I had not shown up and she agreed that that was the case. When I asked if she could just charge the card and let me stay she said that the situation was different and was against your policy. I questioned her further and she summoned a person form the back office who agreed that the situation was completely different and actually said “Sorry, we can’t help you.” When I suggested cancelling the credit card transaction and paying in cash that suggestion was also turned down. Reason was lost on these two minions that are trained to be slavishly obedient to your rules and policies. I am sure that if you question these two they will agree that I was polite and courteous throughout our encounter. After several attempts at circumventing their indifference I felt that I should leave before I started to get mad. As a competent, attentive and businesslike hotelier I am sure you are aware of the saturation in your market on any given day. If you harken back to May 19 you will recall that all of the other hotels in New Westminster and as far as Port Coquitlam were completely booked. No matter, I was able to avail myself of a comfortable chair in the admitting lobby of the Royal Columbian Hospital from 4:00PM on Friday until 6:00AM the following morning. Except of course when I had to leave the admitting lobby while the janitors polished the floors. Because the Emergency Room lobby was full I was able to meet some of the interesting local street residents that were outside at 2:30AM. The questionnaire you emailed me “after my stay” to comment on my experience does not have sufficient space to fu

I had a one night stay before boarding a cruise ship in Vancouver. I booked this DUMP online. My God, it was horrible. The drapes were falling apart....The floor was tacky underfoot. You could not use the shower because the hot water handle was totally loose. I was in room 9. There was no stopper in the wash basin. So we took a sponge bath. I did call to the front desk and he offered to change us to room 10. I declined because I didn't think it could be much better. My advice, you'd be better off sleeping in your car. That's how bad it was. Air conditioner - we could not seem to shut off. It was one of those tiny things in the wall. We didn't need it because it was in the 50's.

My husband and I stayed one night at the Burnaby location in order to attend a dinner function nearby. We checked into our room and the heater was already on and set at 68 and seemed to be working OK. Shortly after we arrived in the room, a maintenance person knocked on the door to see how the heater was working. That should have clued us in as to what would happen next. A bit later, the unit started to spit out cooler air. I might add that the unit never cycled off and on as it should. I turned the unit up to around 72 to see if that would make a difference but no it did not. We contacted the front desk and within 5 minutes, maintenance came to check. We were told that the heater had to remain at 68, no higher or it wouldn’t work. I have never heard of such a thing. High temperature in Vancouver was mid 40's dipping into the 30's at night. By this time, it was 5:30 and we had to head out the door for the dinner event at 6PM. I wish we would have demanded a different room, because when we returned it was definitely cooler in the room. We were both tired and needed to leave the hotel early in the morning so we decided to “gut it out”. I looked for additional blankets and there were none. I wound up sleeping a total of 2 hours in my coat. This was not a comfortable experience.  I am generously giving this property 2 stars as the room itself was clean and the bedding was comfortable. The front desk clerk kindly gave us a 50% discount for our discomfort which was the best she could do, but when I contacted their HQ was offered a 50% discount off a future stay. Don't think I will take them up on that offer, but thanks anyway.

Room was simple and clean. The unlevel floor going into bathroom could maybe be better marked but we adapted. A portable AC unit was in our room at check in which was good since it was needed. The physical room key took some getting used to (ie not locking automatically). The cable box was precariously set on top of the wall mounted tv and it took some time to get everything hooked up correctly. We had a few minor inconveniences (we stayed multiple days and would have appreciated a place to hang two wet bath towels) but nothing egregious. The lobby snack bar is a diabetic’s nightmare but each morning there were bananas as well.

Good property with a few issues - As a Bonvoy elite member I usually resist checking in on the app and prefer to visit the front desk to request a room upgrade, but if I visit this hotel again, I'd probably just use the app. Before arrival the app notified me that I had been upgraded, but the front desk told me there was no upgrade, just a standard room reservation with two beds (I was solo and only needed one bed), and could not be moved because the hotel was ”full” (unfortunately, my parking lot/lobby bar/day of week lie detector test indicated that to be untrue). After check-in the app was confused, the amenities in the room I received did not match the room amenities on the app, which added to my suspicions that I was downgraded on arrival. So much for using my charm and status at the front desk :) My only request was a high floor with some kind of view, instead I was given room 707 (the hotel has 32 floors) facing the street with a beautiful view of a car dealership. Anyway, once I got beyond that, the room was clean, well organized, and quiet (except for some street noise, which is one reason I requested a high floor...). I liked the small window that could be opened, the weather was right for it and I turned off the climate control for the room for the duration of the stay. As I was miffed at my check-in experience, I chose to take my food & beverage revenue elsewhere, so I have no reviews of the facilities. The stay was uneventful until checkout, where I had to deal with the front desk again. I was charged for internet that is free for Bonvoy elites, and I was not charged the $15 per night for parking, which I know from experience will be much more when the hotel's non-affiliated parking service bills the rental car company, who passes the charge on to me with some eye-watering fees....Also, for some reason I was checked out at 9:30AM, even though I had requested and received a 1PM checkout. Their system couldn't handle giving me new keys, so somebody had to escort me to the room to pick up my bags after I stepped out for some ice. Overall, a great property that needs some work on it's systems and a little more training (and honesty?) at the front desk.

This was perfectly adequate for my one night stay prior to a cruise. The location is easily accessible from the train from the airport and less than a mile from the cruise terminal. It is no frills but clean. I had a shared bathroom which was a concern but it was fine. You share the bathroom with another room and you will hear them in there but, again, it was one night. There was a sink in the room which was good as you didn't need the bathroom for basic teeth brushing, etc. If I was doing an overnight in Vancouver again, I'd go back.

Our stay started off really well. Front desk staff were very friendly and let us check in early. I went to have a shower before going to the concert we were in town for and found that the tub drain was plugged and the tub not draining. I had received a txt earlier ask how the room use and to text if we need anything. So I text that the tub was are draining. I did not get a response and left the room to go out. We thought we would come back the drain being unplugged but instead came back to nothing done. We went to the front desk to ask for a plunger to try and fix ourselves as it had been 7 hours and still no response. We tried to plug the drain but it did not help. When we returned the plunger the front desk person offered us another room but being in out pj’s and it after midnight we stayed in the room. They said maintenance would be back at 7am. We went to check out at 11, still no response to txt and no maintenance person to fix tub. The desk person apologized and offered us breakfast vouchers for the restaurant. We went to the restaurant but they would only give us bacon or sausage and eggs. Being vegan and vegetarian that was not going to work. The restaurant said they could not offer anything else. We went back to the front desk and the manager wouldn’t allow the front desk person to do anything else for unless we wanted McDonald’s. Looking forward to getting home tonight to shower.

The location was perfect, and the room was quite spacious for the two of us, my teenager son and i, as we were in town for university campus visits. The beds were very comfortable, and the Starbucks in the lobby, and the mosaic restaurant served good food (for lunch). Parking was right down in the basement, and was very convenient. We parked the car there and walked around Robson avenue for shopping. Checkout was also very speedy and done online, without the need to line up.

Situated close to the US border, the hotel represents a great stopping point for travelers coming either by car or ferry. This hotel is truly nice. The driver and I had a difficult time seeing where the hotel entrance was. We had to guess. Very engaging lobby, with a check in that went very smooth. There are plenty of amenities at this hotel. Good attached restaurant. The room was very large, very nice, and very comfortable. Very large bathroom, and nice shower. However. The glaring problem here are the thin walls. Every other guest I spoke to had the same complaint. I could annoyingly hear the people walking around above my room. The housekeeping staff could be heard cleaning several rooms away. The hotel guests could be heard walking around the halls and in their rooms. A small amount of noise is to be expected at hotels, but this is just poor design and cheap building. There was also a distinct smell of vomit throughout the hotel. I am not certain if this was the result of the farm land outside, or intoxicated guests. Probably both. If you are here to gamble and drink, you may not notice any of my issues. If you are hear to sleep and work the next day, you may share my concerns.

GGuest UserThey advertise their rooms as having air conditioning but this is not true as the room we were checked into had a evaporative air cooler. The cooling system in the room didn't work and they were completely aware of this but did not mention a single thing to us at check-in. We had to constantly fill the bucket from the air cooler with ice cold water in order to get any cool air in the room. They told us it should last 8 hours but the machine started beeping at 3:30am after we had just filled it with ice cold water right before bed. It's ridiculous to have to go fetch ice and change the water out in the middle of the night. We were told that they were fully booked and they couldn't move us. There were also lots of mosquitoes in the room - our best guess was that the big bucket of water from the machine made it a nice environment for them. The nights were hot, stuffy and annoying with the mosquitoes bothering us. We were not able to have a good nights sleep at all. The toilet and bathtub are also not renovated. The toilet seat was peeling and really disgusting. The bathtub does not drain well at all when you are showering. The room we were assigned was also right behind the elevators. Whenever the elevators were in use, we heard banging all the time - even in the middle of the night. We usually ask for a room away from the elevators but we haven't been able to access our rewards account to see if it's still noted despite asking for password reset help multiple times and having no response. Cleanliness was also a problem - the floors were sticky and they haven't cleaned under the sofabed in a long time. Housekeeping also asked us one morning if we needed our room cleaned and we declined. That night, we had a card slipped under our door indicating that they will do a wellness check within 24 hours since they haven't heard from us - we just spoke with them THAT morning. We've stayed here many times before and spoke highly of this hotel but we will no longer recommend it to anyone.

GGuest UserWe went to Canada for business purposes. Each of us had a room on a different floor - I ended up on the 7th floor and a room with a mountain view. A colleague ended up lower and there was already only a view of the shopping center. But these are not aspects of the hotel's rating. I subtract one star for the dry air and buzzing air conditioner in the room. The rest OK. Breakfasts correct, service courteous.

GGuest UserThis is our second year in a row booking at the Element Metrotown Burnaby for our soccer tournaments. Roxanne in group bookings was super helpful and awesome to work with because she helped me organized the accommodations. I had no idea what I was doing. Rafael at the front desk was friendly, helpful and he remembers everything. The location was excellent with many food options, groceries, and a mall. The rooms were spacious and gorgeous with great views. The kitchen with full fridge was very convenient for 4 occupancies. The beds are also very comfortable. We will definitely return to this hotel.

EEscape05790073984The man at the front desk who checked us in was very helpful in finding us a first-floor room instead of the second-floor room we'd been assigned. He was also very thorough in telling us about how to get to our room, about breakfast, etc. Breakfast was great! It was in a restaurant on the premises (but had to walk outside to get to it). There was a good variety of hot and cold food and they kept it well supplied. The hotel room was larger than most. There is nice large laundry room on the premises with inexpensive washer & dryer (ice machine also in that room). The beds were comfy, the shower was good, we had plenty of towels and toilet paper, everything was clean and in good repair, all the lights worked. The sink and counter were separate from the toilet & tub and there was a nice big counter. There was a power ***** next to the bed where I plugged in my phone charger. There are plenty of other restaurants nearby. We like the citrus fragrance of the supplied soaps and shampoo, etc. This was one of the best places we've stayed!

RRYANWONGDuring the epidemic, the restaurant and ** were not open, and the facilities were not available. The hotel parking lot has sufficient parking spaces and the location is often convenient. You can go to the room through the lobby.

LLIN YUAN-CHARNThis 38-day independent trip to Canada has been planned for a long time. It finally happened on July 13. The first stop is Vancouver, where I will stay for 9 days. On Trip, I booked two rooms at the Royal Mansion B&B, which is less than 1 kilometer away from the Metrotown MRT station. , with good environment and convenient transportation, I will definitely stay here next time I visit Vancouver.

南极北望The location is average, it is a bit noisy to keep the road. Hotel facilities are relatively simple, air conditioning is not easy to use. Breakfast is free, but only juice and bread are too shabby.
