The score is down to the enthusiastic front desk (the fat one, not the handsome one), which fully reflects the hospitality of southern Europeans. The cheapest room type in the off-season costs 160 pounds. The room is only 150 feet small. There is not even a place to put tea. It has to be placed on a clothes rack. Then I have to take away the clothes before making tea. Yes, if it were Paris or Tokyo, I could understand the price and the feeling of being crowded. But I can’t understand it in a Spanish town no matter how beautiful the courtyard is (I’m not sleeping in the courtyard) It calls itself a boutique hotel, but the floors are so old that all the patterns are covered in gray, and the showerhead in the bathroom is moldy. In winter, when the temperature is below ten degrees at night, the room heater is not warm enough, so the hotel has prepared an extra thick quilt. The boiled eggs for breakfast were overcooked. The only advantage is that it is right in the old town and surrounded by attractions. But the taxi can't drive to the door because the alley is too narrow.

The hotel was very very beautiful and in an amazing location. The patio area downstairs is wonderful to relax and read in and the rooftop area is amazing to see the views especially in the evenings. The staff were very friendly and the breakfast nice. Why not 5 out of 5 then you ask, my only problem for one of us was the bed and pillows were extremely hard and uncomfortable to sleep in. For the other it was fine. Personal preference. But a lovely hotel overall.

Far best Hotel on our Southern Spain Tour (wished we stayed longer) - Excellent hotel in a fantastic location to old sleepy part of town and very good walking distance to places to visit. The STAFF really made this hotel stay a fantastic time - very welcoming & so Friendly & Helpful. Hotel was so quiet and very peaceful and lovely outdoor pool & spaces (sun was out)! Breakfast excellent with great options and location over the Roman ruins (unforgettable). Very comfortable rooms and quite rooms - we had a great location in terms of room to court yard. My only wish the hotel had given us an upgrade for our 25th wedding Anniversary. Would really consider staying again!

This is a lovely and classy hotel. It's just a short half block from the Mezquita, but feels serene and quiet. The Superior Double Room was ample and attractive, and very quiet. The staff is super helpful. Having a drink on the roof is a treat, overlooking the Mezquita and Bell Tower. The breakfast is very nice, and the gourmet dinner in the beautiful courtyard is a wonderful experience.

This was a really sweet hotel. We had a room that came with a private terrace from which we could see the cathedral tower. The food was terrific. We had breakfast and one dinner there. We enjoyed both very much on the gorgeous patio. The staff were very friendly and helpful. It’s really well situated close to the cathedral and in the heart of the historic center. We walked from the train station and it took about 25 minutes.

Balcon de Cordoba was the best small hotel. Their courtyard was a little oasis in a very busy area. The bedroom was spacious. A bottle of Cava was provided, and we drank it in the courtyard. Breakfast was included and was delicious. Because the hotel courtyard was so special, we ate dinner two nights there. The food was good, the staff was friendly and efficient, and sitting outside under trees in the courtyard was peaceful. Rafael, who was on duty in the afternoon, went above what anyone is required to do to make our stay special. We highly recommend this hotel.

Our room was small but very-well appointed and stylish. Staff was super friendly + helpful. If you can get the 2nd floor room with its own rooftop patio. It has a great bay bed where you can have a drink and watch the sunset + views in ALL directions.

Everything about this place was very good. It’s a stone’s throw from the Mezquita (but tucked down a side alley away from the hoards!) The front entrance is beautifully welcoming with its huge orange tree in the front patio. The reception staff are super helpful and professional. The rooms are well appointed (although slightly dusty but it’s such a small point overall). The roof terrace is a great place to relax, after a busy day, sightseeing watching the sun go down over the Mezquita. And the breakfast is very good…with a really lovely waitress who remembered how you took your coffee in the morning. The perfect place! We had a car and so you cannot park in the surrounding streets - you can just enter the pedestrian zone, drive round the Mezquita and stop briefly to drop off your luggage. We parked in the Parking Mezquita - a tiny car park behind the old city walls. It’s tight in there so take it slowly!! Also, try going to the night visit to the Mezquita. It’s really magical. We then went two mornings in a row at 8.30, before breakfast…you see something new each time! And being so close made it easy to pop in.
