Hotels near West Falmouth Crossing, Cumberland County

April School vacation we planned a one night stay-cation at the Ramada. I should have known better, being that we live less than a few miles away from the Ramada. But, I unfortunately trusted the 3 star rating. We live near the Clarion hotel and we were looking for step up from that hotel. We were looking a simple hotel that felt safe, clean, decent food, and had a pool. The Ramada failed on all fronts! The only good thing about this hotel is the exceptionally patient staff behind the front desk. This staff has an incredibly hard job. While trying to perform their jobs, they are constantly monitoring unwelcome guests and guest who have been served far too much alcohol at their bar and restaurant. This creates a unsafe space for hotel employees and guests. We were a party of three one adult and two children under the age of 10. My children both expressed feeling unsafe while we were outside of our room. One of many incidents included a very intoxicated man who was a hotel guest at their bar. He came towards us calling my children his children and walked right into a wall, and fell down right in front of them. They have never knowingly seen a drunk person. Now thanks to our stay at the Ramada they have. This was one of many experiences we had that led us to feel unsafe outside of our room. In our room there was a pubic hair on the ice bucket tray. The rooms are dingy and bathrooms feel very worn in and dirty. We made sure our doors were bolted and secure. The doors felt secure with the exception of the patio door but we were on the 3rd floor. We did have dinner at the Seasons restaurant. Skip the food and get dessert. The desserts were really good. The mozzarella sticks we ordered only one actually had cheese in it. The tater tots were freezer burned and you could taste that even though they were smothered in cheese. Finally the pool and hot tubs. Algae around the pool platform allows for an extra slippery surface and of course fungus. The hot tubs were very cloudy and felt a layer of slime on our skin after being in them. The pool lining is lifted in many areas and has a ring of dirt around the interior edges. In the early morning we found a non guest using the pool area to bath. Next time we are looking for a average hotel for a stay-cation that feels safe, clean, decent food and a pool we will choose the Clarion near our house. Or perhaps we will splurge and get a good quality hotel elsewhere in town.

A former local, I still pass frequently through the area on I295 for my work, a two-day drive, and so I look for uncomplicated, value-oriented properties that nonetheless make the two long days on the road less painful and tedious. In the Yarmouth-Freeport-Brunswick area, none in this categroy surpasses the Freeport Hotel for overall quality; after renovations, it has a sort of boutique feel, with a small lobby that (almost seamlessy, but ironically? i couldn't say, having studied irony professionally for 20 years) blends Scandinaivan Modernism with coastal cottage kitsch. From there, as at a motel you can drive to any of a few entry doorsdown the long hallway, the closest to your room not more than 50 ft away, which is a nice compromise between easy access and =cnfidnefe-inspiring security. Plus, the low profile of the one-story property ensures both that nobody will keepyou awake late by stiompiung overhead, tossign aside their outllet purchaes while muttering oaths in an entirely predictable outburst signaling allergic reaction to late capitalism, and also that you yourself can't disturb anyone below you, similarly allergic or in ecstatic outburst at experioence of same. if you are more nocturnally-inclined (shoutout, fellow creatures of the night), trhis mena syou can quietly and tastefully enjoy your time with family and friend, entering and exiting to parking lot wihtout much imposing on anyone else. In the room, literally top to bottom everything refurbished (maybe some surfaces or window treatments) or replaced: surpriosingly high (meaning mid) range TV with easy to access USB and HDMI ports, a recessed desk space with new wood laminat that, if not entirely convincing, is not so unconvinciong that one constantly notices the artifice., bathroom fixtures, matresses and bed linens. I stayed ijn a king room, and though there was not much extra square footage, I didn't miss the extra.;.. absence, I guess? I wouldn't say negative space, be a use there is nothing negative ewnoguht ot notice, much less note. Breakfast the next moring was about as udnerwhelming as I expected, which is to say, exactly like everywhere promising hot fodos in the hot zone that is pandemic America, so I make no judgment about the inestimable reoresatioun of these survival calores for the hotel would otherwise be offering, in the hope that the pandemic may one day end, and so not require yet another downgrading of what we expect at a mijnimum for this basic human need. So that's not on the excellent Freeport Hotel--the front office staff of which, incidentally, kindly reminded me three steps into the lobby that I forgotten to put on my mask; the property takes the mandates seriously and enforces them. We stayed one night before flying home after a family event. We ran out of wipes for the 1 year old and the staff put our Uber CVS order in the room for us. They also provided a travel crib. Then, my 5 year old started vomiting in the middle of the night and the front desk staff provided us with extra linens not once, but TWICE. The service from start to finish was amazing and I will definitely stay here again when visiting Portland. Oh yeah- rooms large and clean, good breakfast, great downtown location!

We were visting from NYC, where we are used to high hotel prices, but we were astonished by the prices in Portland last weekend--including at the Inn at St. John. The Inn is located across from Maine Medical Center--it's construction Zone, actually. It is a short run/walk to the Western Promenade, which is very beautiful and worth the climb. However, it is not really near any other real attractions of the city. Our room (double with private bath) was very small and dated (it is an historic inn, so I don't mind the antique furnishings...everything was just a little on the shabby side). However, it was very clean. Bath could use some updating as well. The ”closet” had hardly any space to hang clothes. There was a table and chairs, and a chest of drawers, which was great. Continental breakfast was fine but average--hard-boiled eggs, cereal, store-bought muffins, etc. You're better off walking over to Holy Donuts and standing in line for their treats. All-day coffee/tea and snacks are a nice touch, however. Also, there was no maid service at all--no towel exchange or tidying up the room. Our check-in staff on Friday were extremely helpful and friendly; kudos to them for helping my husband up the stairs with his luggage. Other staff were also friendly, although we didn't have much interaction with them. We just expected a bit more of a homey atmosphere and a bit more comfort in our surroundings for the price.

I chose this place as a less expensive alternative to hotels in Portland. Also because motels are safer during COVID than hotels (more ventilation because the room opens to the outdoors). First, I want to say my room was clean and comfortable. It's nothing fancy, but you get what you pay for. Also, I had a last-minute change to my reservation and the manager was very accommodating. So, thank you for that. My one non-COVID sort-of complaint is that, while you get a fridge and microwave (nice features), there's no coffee maker in the room. Would be nice to have that instead of the microwave, maybe. My biggest issue is that there were no COVID protocols in place. I went into the office to check in and the office was SEALED. I mean no windows open, door shut. The manager who checked me in was not wearing a mask. Two other guests were in there. I was the only one wearing a mask. And check in still involves filling out a card, even if you book on Booking.com, so it takes several minutes. I was quite eager to get out of there. When I got to my room, I realized he had given me a queen room rather than the king I booked, but I didn't want to go back into the office to request a room change. Then it occurred to me that if the manager wasn't wearing a mask, housekeeping probably didn't either. I kept the door open and opened the windows to air out my room before removing my mask, following what the experts say. Please open your office windows. It was 72 degrees and gorgeous outside. No reason to have everything sealed up.

Just a few minutes from downtown Portland at very reasonable rate. Very clean and in excellent condition. Self serve breakfast (no pre-packaged bag). Staff was efficient, friendly and helpful. Gave accurate and useful information about the area. Staff took initiative to see something and respond quickly. One morning the desk clerk noticed that dining room was filling and guests were looking at outside patio. He immediately went out to patio and wiped down tables and chairs so guests would be comfortable.

Nice, friendly, helpful staff. Clean rooms. Nice large rooms with a sitting area, kitchen area (microwave, fridge, and countertop), suitcase area, work desk area, clothing closet, separate bathroom vanity and shower/toilet areas, and bedroom area. Plenty of room for work, play, relaxing, and eating. Nice parking area. Watch airplanes come and go right from your bed. Breakfast buffet available (cheese omelets, strawberry yogurt, spicy sausage patties, pancakes, packaged muffins, and more.) Beverages available in the lobby include coffee, tea, cocoa, and hot apple cider. I would stay here again.
