Dakota Cowboy Inn

The Ponderosa has been recently purchased and rooms have been completely renovated. The beds and sheets were very high quality which adds to the comfort of the night! Pricing was good and check-in was very simple (there is no front desk but the process is efficient and easy).

The room was great! Clean! Checked in online so only had to key in. Arrived early and room wasn’t ready, but staff was courteous. Everything was freshly painted and maintained. Linen was nice! Better than expected for a small, independent hotel.

Hotel has no sign so good luck finding it. VERY run down, both inside and out. Management chuckeled about ice machine being broken, which was not at all funny to us. Room was large but very, very odd. Refrigerator not plugged in. No kleenex or tissues. Pictures show rather nice looking firepits, which are right in the parking lot - yuck. Location is not walkable to downdown. The place looks AWFUL!!! Manager is not on site, so everything is a phone call, or several. No-key unlock and lock work only fitfully, so place does not feel very safe. Manager kept getting confused as to how long we were staying, saying his computer was "wonky" - not comforting. The new owners have bought a real pig and no amount of lipstick will save it. I feel sorry for them - this place will never pay and it was a bad investment. For the rest of us: Do Not Stay Here!

Love the air conditioning. Good lighting. No alarm clock, no tissues, had to ask for more pillows and wash cloths, shower head was stuck on massage. It works as a hotel. Gives you a place to sleep and shower. Just needs some work…
