Booked a table for an evening meal with the family. We arrived and were greeted by staff behind the bar. I said we had a table booked and a girl walked out from behind the bar to where we were stood and pointed at the open doorway and told us that our table was through there. I asked her which table and she again just pointed and said through there and to the right. The doorway was about 3metres away so a little baffled as to why we couldn't just be shown to our table. The rest of our party arrived, we ordered drinks (expensive compared to prices for the same drinks in other pubs in the town) and started to walk through to find our table. I turned to the girl behind the bar and asked if someone comes to the table to take our order or if we have to come to the bar. I was told that because they are busy (if that was busy I would hate to see them on a quiet night!) we needed to order at the bar. Not a problem however I also had to ask for menus for our group as we hadn't been given any. We ordered our food and when it arrived some of us had chips that were overflowing out of the baskets they were served in whilst another in our party barely had 10. Chips were dry and overcooked. Onion rings were also missing but didn't bother to inform staff as didn't want them replaced. The food was nothing special and overpriced. Family had also visited a few weeks before and also experienced poor service and mediocre food. Met with friends later that night who said they'd been before and the food wasn't great and they wouldn't be going back. I just wished we'd known before hand. Staff were friendly enough although the customer service could do with refreshing. Menu and produce need an overhaul!

This place is a very lovely pub for meals and I have been here several times now since working in Denbigh. Thank you so much for your wonderfully generous raffle prize donation to Myddelton Prep School. We raised over £450 in the raffle which will pay for new books for the school library.

Visited the Guildhall for dinner on New Years eve. Despite the fact that the pub was busy the services was attentive, food was very enjoyable ( and plentiful) and prices reasonable. Will definitely visit again.

Booked a table for 8 for Santes Dwynwen (welsh Valentines) with the children and their partners. Had a very warm welcome off the host and hostess - drinks ordered and delivered to our table. The meals we ordered were all excellent value and plentiful - clean plates all round (always a good sign!) Have been a handful of times over the last few years and it’s always been a bit hit and miss but following this evenings fayre and service we will be making here our go to resteraunt in Denbigh. Very impressed!

I popped in today with my mum as I’m visiting from out of town and was not very hopefull about finding somewhere spectacular to eat in denbigh… but I was wrong! The moment we walked through the door it was like stepping back in time, the music was beautiful, the decor, the candlelight and the lady who ran the bar welcomed us like locals and made us feel like we were home, Sunday lunch dinner was incredibly generous, beautiful glazed carrots with big slices of beef and all the fixings. It’s the first time in a long time I’ve not wanted to leave a place because we felt so well looked after.. highly recommend if ever you’re in denbigh! Thanks to “jazz” for such a warm welcome 🙏❤️

We went for a lovely Sunday roast.. a lovely Sunday roast is NOT what we were served. We will not be visiting again, I went with my boyfriend and ordered the chicken Sunday dinner.. the chicken was as hard, chewy and was clearly reheated. I didn’t touch any of my meal, it was very disappointing! The time came to pay the bill and I was offered a free drink for the inconvenience.. when I asked for the meal to be taken off my bill I was told the manager said “no can do” and could only offer me a free drink. If you’re thinking about visiting this restaurant we highly suggest you don’t go!

We were told we needed to book, so we did, when we got there we got ignored by the 3 bar staff, when they eventually saw us, they said someone has just sat on your table, we were seated at the back of the pub out of the draught of the propped open door. Drinks order was taken but told they didnt have cucumber for hendricks gin, because they have been busy today. Then they found the cucumber in the kitchen. I ordered food to then be told the menu we were given was not the up to date one, without the camembert we wanted, and heres a new menu, ok so i ordered the burger only to be told, we dont have any burgers left. We got up to pay for the drinks and leave, the young man behind the bar didnt know what we had to drink???. Just 5 mins ago. Get your act together, we wont be back, we we to another restaurant were the service was very good

The hotel and pub is located right on the high street but the library building shield most of the noise from the street. The hotel is in an historic building so the floor in our room was almost comically uneven - I suppose it adds to the charm. Denbigh Castle is very close so you can do that on foot.

Steeped in history the guild hall sits next to the castle. Dating back to the 1400’s, there’s not a straight or level edge in the place, the floor boards creak and the foods pretty good. If your looking for all mod cons etc it’s probably not for you but I loved it.
