Despite my experiences, during my stay, I still rated it a 4 because the manager on duty and the front desk staff were helpful and very friendly. Always a smile! Good - Room was clean. TV was a decent size and worked. I got my high floor request. Breakfast was fabulous on Friday morning. I did did not ever have to wait long for the elevator. Maintenance came very quickly when requested. Always provided towels when asked. Customer service from manager on duty ( I apologize that I do not remember her name) and front desk staff was excellent. Bad - None of the pepper shakers in the eating area worked; the Saturday and Sunday breakfast was not good at all - I do not eat pork and despite having the option of Turkey bacon on Friday, they said they do not serve that on Saturday and Sunday. That was a shocker for me that they did not support those with dietary requirements. I included breakfast in my stay so it would have been good to have other options than just scrambled eggs and carbs. Ugly - The water was shut off with no warning or communication for at least two hours which caused us to miss an appointment. Water did not drain in the bathtub so maintenance had to come and fix it and the water came out brown and dirty of course when it came back on. I completely understood that a water leak is out of your control but maybe consider putting a robocall system to rooms or at least send a message through Hilton Honors app. How would you communicate to visitors if there was an emergency? That’s the part that worried me. The room next door was having a party until early hours of the morning with loud music and banging. I am not a complainer or cause any problems and I didn’t want to be a Debbie Downer Downer so I blocked it out and put the tv on. I was tired so I eventually fell asleep. Much of the bad and ugly will most likely not affect everyone on the average stay.

I recently stayed at the Holiday Inn Express & Suites Farmington Hills - Detroit. I really enjoyed my stay. The hotel was clean and comfortable, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. I would definitely stay there again.

I had a poor experience at the Sheraton in Novi while staying with a family member to celebrate a belated Christmas as we weren't able to get together around Christmas proper. While I was upgraded to a room on the club lounge floor, the guest room I received was not clean by any definition of clean. There was hair on the desk and desk chair, hair on the toilet, hair under the toilet seat, hair on the wrapped bar of soap and soap dish, stains on the desk, and stains on the face tissue container. The single bathrobe hanging in the closet appeared to have been previously worn and didn't have a cincture. On my reservation I specifically requested only 100% feather pillows. My reservation also requested a bathrobe, slippers, extra pillows and extra towels. I didn't receive any of those things. The four pillows were four polyester down-alternative pillows. Those pillows are horrible. They always feel like someone stuffed cotton balls in a pillowcase. During check-in I noticed a sign at the front desk saying daily housekeeping is not provided, unless specially requested. The major cleanliness issues that I experienced are a direct result of what happens when hotels don't clean rooms and other spaces each and every day. I received zero Marriott Bonvoy elite status recognition. Specifically, I was not offered the choice at check-in of breakfast in the restaurant, an amenity or points. I complained to the general manager, who to his credit acknowledged the lack of cleanliness was unacceptable, fully apologized and took responsibility. To resolve the issue, he offered to comp my stay and ensure that the room was thoroughly cleaned while we were out of the room and off-property at a nearby shopping mall. He also apologized for the lack of Bonvoy recognition and provided the $100 cash compensation that is required by Marriott for not offering guest with platinum or higher Bonvoy status the choice at check-in of breakfast in the restaurant, an amenity or points. When we returned, the room was properly cleaned. The pillows were replaced with feather pillows, although none of the feather pillows had pillow protectors or pillowcase liners. Two clean bathrobes and two pairs of slippers were placed in the closet. The general manager was also kind enough to leave a bottle of wine in the room. My family member was really appreciative of that gesture. Despite the issues, the staff that I encountered throughout the stay were polite, welcoming and hospitable. That aside, there was zero excuse for the cleanliness issues or the lack of attention to what was specified on the reservation The club lounge was open with an average evening offering that included a selection of assorted cheeses, crackers, grapes, fruit and some basic canapés. Besides free nonalcoholic drinks, an honor bar featured cheap house wine ($5 retail bottles of wine) selling for $5 a glass. The club lounge is a nice smaller space. I come to this area every year for a classic car cruise and visit family. This is the closest hotel to my family. I have stayed here in years past and its been average. Nothing special but I don't spend a lot of time there to begin with. This visit the room was overcome with a musty odor. The only way to combat it was to run the A/C very high and keep the bathroom fanning running. After a day in the sun we would come back to this ice box. Without doing that the room smelled and none of the linens would dry. And it was't really that humid out. The Wifi was also very glitchy. These are enough factors that when I return next year I won't be coming back to this Hampton Inn.

The service in the hotel is very good. They can also help with printing. There is 24-hour free hot water and coffee and other small drinks. It is very suitable for Asians on business trips. The breakfast is also delicious and there are many choices. The waffles are great. The hotel is also newly opened. The environment Very good. The only drawback is that it is very close to the road and it will be a little noisy, but overall it is still very good and the service is very good!

Upon walking into this hotel, we liked what we saw. The lobby area was nice and inviting.The room was nice and clean. We Loved having a fridge and a microwave. The ammenities were nice. The bed was very comfortable. We didn't use the pool or exercise area. We arrived later in the evening and checked out before breakfast even began. Can I just say tho......AMBER! She was absolutely amazing. She greeted us with a smile and a great attitude which we needed after what we had gone thru at our previous hotel. What a breath of fresh air. We chatted on and on while we checked in. I cannot say enough about how wonderful she was. When we had come down to the lobby shortly after checking in she was mopping the floor and I must say she was happily doing it. She always had a smile on her face. Hotels need more GSA like her. You have a real gem on your hands there. We just loved her.

We chose this hotel over a different less expensive hotel down the street because of the highly reviewed restaurant and the beautiful interior photos on the website. We paid around $400 for this room. When we arrived, we discovered that the hotel was hosting a Classic Cars event. All of the parking spaces at the front entrance and along the sides were taken up by Classic Cars and parade tents filled with partying people. There was a very loud band blocking the hotel entrance as well, and it was raining. This all might have been fun if we were Classic Car enthusiasts, but we are not. We're just regular family people and we were there for a baptism at the church down the road. The hotel bar and restaurant were completely filled with event guests. We discovered we had been booked into an Accessible room, meaning that it was outfitted for wheelchairs, but we are young(ish) and not disabled. Other than that, the room was pretty......until we opened the curtains and were staring at what must have been the entire HVAC system for the hotel. Possibly worst of all, there was a piped-in scent throughout the hotel - even in our room - that reminded me of cheap 1980's men's musk cologne. It was awful. It permeated our clothes, and my hair. All night, cars were revving their engines. However, the front desk staff was very nice. What we experienced was definitely not what was advertised by this hotel.

Breakfast is general, bread, cereal, milk and the like. The location is on the roadside, there are no commercial outlets around, but this is not a problem. Within a few kilometers of driving, there are more shopping malls. There is a parking lot. The hotel is relatively simple and has no place for children to play.
