Fukuoka Toei Hotel

The location is fantastic! You can take a bus directly from Hakata Station to the hotel entrance, and it's also convenient to take a bus to the Tenjin shopping area. The subway is only a 5-minute walk away, perfectly situated between Watanabe-dori and Yakuin Station, making getting around super easy. The low ceiling in the room was a bit oppressive, but everything else was fine. It had all the standard hotel amenities you'd expect, and the staff were very friendly. They also offer a paid luggage delivery service to the airport. The breakfast was just so-so, truly mediocre. You could probably skip it – maybe it was just too Japanese for my taste, but the service attitude was still excellent. The cleanliness was pretty subpar, especially the air conditioning vent directly above. There was a thick layer of dust, and every time the AC was on, dust would fall down. The third picture shows the dust that fell shortly after I turned it on. I reported it the next day, and when I returned, it was clear they had cleaned the vent, and there was no more dust. They really need to pay more attention to details, especially for an older, established hotel.

The hotel is super convenient to get to, really close to Watanabe-dori. There's a bus stop right downstairs with direct service to PayPay Dome, which is perfect for catching baseball games or concerts. Plus, there's a 24-hour Sunny supermarket nearby. My room faced a construction site, but they don't work at night, so it wasn't an issue. The only noise was the door closing a bit loudly, otherwise, the soundproofing was pretty good.

The room we booked was quite spacious, and the breakfast was filling. The yogurt, mentaiko, and beef carpaccio were good, but the bread wasn't great. The main issue was the construction site outside, which was a bit noisy. It's also one stop away from Tenjin.

I booked a twin room in the front building. Even with the windows closed, I could sometimes hear traffic outside, and there were often loud motorcycles late at night. It wasn't enough to disturb my sleep, though. The room was very clean and spacious, with two beds and enough room to open two large suitcases, which was great. I also pre-paid for breakfast when booking. Although it was the same for all six days, it was delicious! Every morning, they had roasted beef slices, along with fried chicken or other side dishes. A cup of Japanese coffee or matcha with milk was a nice touch. The location is super convenient, situated between Watanabe-dori and Yakuin stations.
