Starling Hôtel Résidence Genève

I stayed at Starling Hotel Residence in Geneva in June 2024 with my daughter as part of a Euro educational tour. The hotel was okay and served its purpose, as we were travelling with other students on a budget-friendly trip. However, I was disappointed by their linen change policy, which states that bed linen is changed only every five days. We stayed for seven days, and our room was not cleaned at all during our stay. On a positive note, the shower was amazing! Since it was early summer, the consistent supply of hot water was greatly appreciated. Overall, the hotel is average and caters well to student budgets, though I still found it quite expensive—which is generally the case in Switzerland.

This is a no frill residence hotel. Obviously designed with business travellers in mind, the only real drawback is its location on the very un romantic Route des Acacias, which feels like Bulgaria in the 1950's. Would go back for a short duration.

Good evening, I would like to thank you all, specialy to the staff at the reception in special to Daniela because she was the one who welcomed us when we arrived. shes very accomodating. We came here as a tourist but i was hospitalized that we need to extend our stay in Geneva. Processing our Schengen Visa extention is very difficult, nobody assisted us except Daniela. She was very patient in assisting us even doing multiple work because there are guest coming that she needs to attend but she really gave us her time. Im very grateful that Starling got a staff like her. I was about to cry a while a ago since nobody knows the process of our visa extention request but i really thank God she is the one assign in the reception today. We finished everything thru her help. Im very grateful to Daniela for her kindness. I dont even know how to thank her for her help. I also saw her carrying a heavy wheelchair of the visitor at the same time assisting everyone coming to the reception. Shes doing multi tasking. Shes really very helpful. Friendly and efficient staff. Stand-alone Air Conditioning worked fine, which was good as Geneva hit 102F in August 2023. Tram stops right in front. No complaints. We would stay again. Everything worked. No problems.

In comparison to most hotels nearer the city centre, this hotel we found was a bargain. A tram stop literally as you step out of the hotel and great public transport links made it easy and convenient to get around. The staff were very friendly and down to earth, welcomed us warmly when we arrived and explained everything well to us. It must be said that they do not always man the reception desk though, so check their working hours. Housekeeping services are not frequent either so have a look if you are staying for more than a few nights - we had two towels to last two people for three nights. Any request for more incurred a charge according to the information in our room. Our room was absolutely spotless. Very good size and a bonus Nespresso coffee machine too. Bathroom and bedroom very small but the living area made up for this. The air con system was rather dated - could have been a bit better if it was integrated like most hotels but kept the living area cool at least. Very noisy. Nonetheless, we never heard another soul during our stay either within or outside the hotel. They have a pass code to enter the front door which was reassuring too. Sadly, we had a little trouble with the safe in the room. It ran out of battery during the night so our valuables got locked in. Thankfully, the reception staff were quick to get our stuff out, but I really don't recommend using them. We felt that luck was on our side that morning due to the desk not always being manned - we had plans booked and simply couldn't wait on someone "coming out." Overall, we would recommend this lovely apartment to all visiting Geneva.
