First of all I would like to point out that I didn’t in fact stay here, but popped in for a coffee to warm myself after a long walk to Högklint and back. They have a small bar/café /restaurant where they serve lunch. I ordered a Cappuccino, and received it beautifully served on a small wood plank together with a couple of pieces of chocolate. It tasted lovely, and service was quick, efficient and friendly. To be recommended!

The service was excellent, extremely helpful reception team. An example of the helpfulness, we arrived around 6 AM and I asked about when we could expect to check in to the room in order to plan our day. The unexpected answer was we will clean your room first as soon as the cleaning staff arrives, so around 9:30 we could check in. The customer in center when solving problems instead of hiding behind policies, amazing attitude!

Very worth experiencing the cabin, although mini but everything is equipped, there is a small yard! If a family of four stays, the price is too high! Unfortunately, I booked for one night, if I come next time, I must book a few more days in advance! Before leaving, I met the staff who came to clean, very enthusiastic, and helped me find the next hotel! A great experience! My son also likes it! It should be noted that bedding (sheets, quilt covers, pillowcases) bath towels and toiletries should also be provided by themselves or asked them to pay for rent. This is also the norm in most homestays or apartments in Northern Europe!

We actually stayed in this hotel in June 22 not July, but are very late writing our review. We stayed for midsummer weekend in one of the apartment suites. I must say that the first thing we thought when we stepped in the room was, ”I wonder if the hotel have made a mistake”. Our apartment honestly looked like it should have been 3 times what we paid for it. It's a historic building and the rooms are tastefully authentic. In short, they're just gorgeous!! My husband and I travel a lot and agree it's one of the coolest we've ever stayed! The staff we're great, happy and friendly. Always on hand to answer any need. Breakfast was in the main building. It had a lovely selection every day. In fact we arrived late for breakfast one morning but they were more than happy accommodate us.

CChangchangElvaHotel 🏨 is worth full marks. From check-in to entering the house, I was sighed by the scenery. The location of the hotel can be said to be excellent. It is not far from the beach to get off the boat. There is no need to carry luggage and climb the slope. The tall brother at the front desk is super nice. Take the initiative to help take the luggage to help the guests solve the problems. Because I am Ma Daha. The conversion headband was turned into Hong Kong, resulting in no charge. The day before, the hand turned off the machine for one night. To be honest, I was really panicked. The working lady sent it to the room at breakfast. Finally, when I checked out, I suggested buying a plug and swiping the card. The brother said directly.
Give it to me, may I ask if such a staff is out of print. The hotel has a bicycle. The little brother has debugging it for free for two days. The hotel view has been shown above. I look forward to returning to Visby in the future. I must stay at this hotel again. I hope that all the staff will be realized. Kang Xingfu thank you for your sincere service

GGuest UserWonderful hotel, perfect location just a few minute's walk from Stora Torget. Clean, cozy rooms, fantastic breakfast, pleasant staff, very reasonably priced. Plenty of street parking available when we were there (beginning of May). (*) There is, however something we'd like to point out. In order to conserve water, the hotel encourages its guests to ”say no to room cleaning”, to keep washing towels and bed linens to a minimum. Great in theory, especially if you are only there a few nights. We had a longer stay, and would have appreciated our room being tidied up a bit (after all, we're paying the service). Since no staff came in the room, towards the end of our stay, we had to hunt down toilet paper and shower gel, and our trash can was overflowing. Luckily we were able to get hold of the receptionist before she left for the day to get a new TP roll. Most hotels clean rooms daily, and change towels when guests request that. The universal ”throw towels on the bathroom floor if you want new ones” would have worked well at Hotell Slottsbacken. We were left with the feeling that while we were trying to be environmentally conscious, we were giving the cleaning crew a free pass. That said, we would absolutely stay at Hotell Slottsbacken again if we ever return to Gotland.

If you have a dog, then this is THE hotel to book if you are visiting Visby! When we arrived we found the dog bed, a blanket, a towel, food bowls and a small bag with two treats, two poop bags and a welcome letter! Extremely nice feeling! Just love it! The staff was all super friendly as well.

SSilje HThis is our second stay at Scandic Visby. Last time was perfect. Nice and big room with balcony and view. This time we got a smaller room (same room category), with smaller balcony and no view, because of a big tree in front of it. The room was okay, but it was not properly cleaned. The windows were really dirty. The bed was super comfortable. However, the ventilation was bad, we had to sleep with balcony door open, and the street is extremely noisy all night. Sometimes there was also an intense and awful sewage smell all over the hotel, both outside and inside. The room didn’t get cleaned during our stay, which was okay, but when we asked for toilet paper refill, the cleaning lady seemed almost bothered. Some of the staff were friendly and smiling, while others were the opposite. We would still choose Scandic Visby over again, because of its location, the excellent breakfast and the nice pool.

GGuest UserI stayed in both a hotel rooms & a self-catering apartment. The outdoor areas are great, & the breakfast is good (if your room includes it). But they provide the absolute minimum: sometimes less than that. The apartment did not even have soap!! (I travel a LOT, in many countries, & have NEVER seen anywhere which isn't a crappy budget hostel which doesn't even provide soap!) The rate didn't include sheets or towels - those cost extra - and even then, they don't put them on the bed for you, you have to do that yourself(!) The apartment kitchen had NOTHING - no tea/ coffee, not even herbs or salt. Many self-catering places (incl one I had elsewhere in Sweden): if guests leave herbs, pasta, oil etc., they leave those for the next guests so they have something. Many provide basics like oil. Even the hotel rooms have no tea / coffee / milk, ie, nothing that a guest can use the kettle for. My rooms had no black-out curtains. They don't allow cancelations at all. That is mean, b/c people make mistakes & plans change. The electrical sockets are in silly places. In all rooms, you have to put the kettle on the floor to boil it(!) - which isn't safe if there are children. The cord isn't long enough to reach any other socket. In the apartment, there us nowhere to plug in a phone overnight near the bed (eg, if you are also using it as an alarm). I felt that it's happy to take your money but does as little as possible for it. I wrote to them to tell them all this, and got a silly response.

6618bretdI do agree with one of the previous posters, when I booked on booking.com I thought this was a hotel....like all other hotels I've ever been at but it's not. This is a 'self-service' ”hotel”....almost like an AirBnB I guess. You check yourself in with a door code, and a code for the lock box - there is no front desk, just a cleaning person making up the rooms...but you could use a special code for the luggage storage room if you arrived early and store your luggage. That was great for us as we arrived at 11:30am. When we returned at later that afternoon, We were fortunate the cleaner happened to be still there making up rooms because our code didn't open our rooms key box. She was able to access for us which saved us having to e-mail/ call the hotel line....which would have been a pain since in Sweden we did not have a phone data plan. But on the upside the room was very comfortable and pretty well kept, I loved the air conditioning and the full kitchen - great for making a quick bite. The location is in the old town of Visby - very close to the gate leading to a few shops, I didn't find any street noise whatsoever but some rooms I suppose may. It was a bit odd too having to take out the garbage and wash up and put away your dishes...but I understand it keeps the costs down. It's worth staying here if you'd like to prepare a few of your own meals as the kitchenette is well stocked, but if you're used to asking the front desk for restaurant recommendations, directions or anything at all for that matter....well you may want to go elsewhere.
