Very special. Lovely location. Exceptional food. Wonderful rooms, each is unique. Bike and walk into town. The gardens are lovely, lots of quiet nooks to sit and enjoy the views. The pool is quiet and relaxing. The staff was thoughtful and informative, with a hosted evening/gathering happy hour. The breakfast that comes with your stay is AMAZING. Splurge & stay for dinner - the chefs are amazing and the ambiance in their dining room is so intimate, with really wonderful staff.

Truly, I hardly know where to begin! Our weekend stay at The Stavrand was utterly fabulous! From communications before we even arrived to the moment we checked out, the entire experience was top notch. Our room was large and lovely, equipped with everything we could have needed. We enjoyed a courtesy glass of wine at 5pm and dined at their restaurant...oh, my! The chef was kind enough to design the menu around our likes and dislikes...how amazing is that??? It was a truly decadent experience! Breakfast was delicious, as well, with lots of choices. Within a half hour, there are so many things to see and do in the area that boredom could never be a problem! The staff are, without exception, pleasant and helpful at all times and that includes the groundskeepers! I should also remark upon the beautiful surroundings, among the redwood stands. Don't hesitate to stay here!!

I have nothing but positive things to say about the wonderful stay I had at the Stavrand Hotel. From the moment we arrived, to the final few minutes checking out the team took incredible care of us (thank you so much Cassandra and Erica)! The rooms are absolutely gorgeous, and the hospitality is 10/10. From the free wine tasting at 5 PM, to the incredible breakfast in bed the next morning - it was heaven. I will absolutely be staying again! - CH

Spent a night here for a work retreat. Small, quaint boutique hotel with gardens, pool and hot tub. The rooms with soaking tubs are spa like. The hospitality of the staff was wonderful. The manager Emily went above and beyond to make our short stay an amazing experience. Rooms were clean and comfortable. Food was delicious. Lots to do at and around the Stavrand including fire pits with s'mores!

A fantastic experience for my wife and me, one we couldn’t have imagined in the interesting town of Guerneville. We enjoyed the easy walk to town and what was offered there. The staff was exceptional in every way. Emily, the owner, treats her people very well, and they all rotate their responsibilities which exposes them to all aspects of the property. They are knowledgeable and eager to please. Erica took care of most of our needs. We took easy and beautiful drives. The road follows the Russian River to the coast. From there, a left took us to Bodega Bay. Going right led us to Fort Ross, which is beautifully preserved. There are redwood groves easily accessible by taking a street right in town. Another grove is near Occidental. The town offers entertainment nightly at the restaurants. The breakfast was great at Stavrand. We had one fabulous dinner there that we will never forget. Although it was a prix fix menu, their creative chef made something very special for us. The people, scenery, amenities and superb management makes staying there a great experience.

Try the salmon, the filet mignon, and all the wines -- basically, eat all the food. Emily was a tremendous host and her team was attentive without dominating, and always helpful and cheerful. Highly recommend for a midweek work retreat experience.

The entire experience at Stavrand was amazing. The staff were remarkably attentive and kind. The grounds of this hotel are out of a storybook. Magical, quiet, drenched in the peace of the redwoods. The bed, deliciously comfortable. And the food in the restaurant, five stars too!! Be sure to enjoy a glass of wine by the fire pits. I was here with a work group. This is the PERFECT place for a work retreat.

How to begin - this will be long so if you want to know our opinion - if we could live there we would. If you have a chance to stay there you should. If you can stay in room 27 even better. If you can stay longer do - We stayed 5 nights. My husband chose this property in the Russian River Valley (right by Guerneville) intuitively - feeling it would be excellent and he was right!!! I had never heard of the area although it has a reputation for wine. The little town of Guerneville is a music loving funky town with some great food. We knew it was in the near Redwoods and the Coast and the River and we could drive to Fort Ross. Fascinating history of that Fort. We had an luggage issue and arrived after 10 PM to a lovely property just off River Road near woods. Andre guided us to our room at the top floor of one of the buildings with a large private view deck and a hot tub and inside a fireplace in an updated and extremely well appointed room. Delighted to be able to just settle in and we did. The bed - had read reviews of the comfort - super for us both - thinking to buy one. Read raves of the included breakfast - there are choices - our favorite was the lavender honey bacon, eggs and potato squares (to die for) - carrot juice (fresh) and coffee - local brand used by locals for good reason - delicious. Now about the staff - they are a wonder team - Emily, the owner came from the Kimpton leads by example - she empowers them. Emily is the owner and she has a passion for quality and care. Ask and they will do their utmost to fulfill your need. Friendly but professional, caring but they also respect privacy. The nice amenities - early morning coffee/tea and other daily treats including an aperitif and smores, outdoor fire and in finality there was the prix fix dinner - so very creative and delicious. lf you live in the area and have not tried it treat yourself. We dream of returning!!!

Absolutely perfect hotel, you can see the care the owner has put into every single detail. It was super fun that they have a wine hour at 5 o'clock and s'mores by the fireplace every night! Also, everything was incredibly clean, the bed was extremely comfortable, and the breakfast was perfect. Will definitely be returning!
