Hanoi Quan Hoan Kiem 3-star Hotels

I had stayed in this hotel for 2 visits. The first visit was from 6 Nov (1 Night) and the second one was from 9 Nov to 11 Nov (2 Nights). For the first visit, i booked a Triple room with Balcony. The room was ok and i did not have any complaints. However, my second visit turned out to be extremely disturbing for us. We had booked a Family Suite. We reached the hotel at around 2 pm, but our room was not ready. In fact, the front desk guy could not even locate my reservation. To give him some time, I went out for lunch and returned back after an hour. The frnt desk guy showed me my room which was supposed to be a family room (according to him). However, there was some luggage in the room. As such, I refused to enter the room since I did not want to enter into trouble with the other guest, whose luggage was kept in his room. So, I informed him to give me some other family suite, which he could not give. SO, we had no choice but to occupy the triple room with Balcony for our stay. Obliviously, we requested the front desk to refund back (not the entire money - but the difference between the two rooms). However, he refused to do it and spoke very rudely and asked us to cancel the room. However, I did not want to waste my money since it was a non redundable booking and I had on option but to stay in the hotel. We asked for face napkins (A basic thing which every 3* hotel is expected to have). However, they did not have any such thing. The breakfast was also very basic and not to the bare minimum standard of a 3 star property. Seeing the limited options for veg (not the hotel's fault that some of us are veg), we asked for honey. However, the hotel did not even have honey, which is to be applied to the bread. And this is only the beginning of the story. The hotel forgot to collect payment from us for our first visit. I returned back to India and the front desk staff contacted me for the payment. By that time, I had posted a very brief feedback about the property on some booking portal. I readily agreed to pay and made the payment. The moment the payment was made, the tone of the frot desk staff changed dramatically. He started calling me names and threatened to broadcast my negative feedback everywhere in Vietnam (i have whatsapp to prove my claims about this). However, I refused to take back my feedback and have gone ahead to post it on tripadvisor. I will not advise anyone to stay or not to stay in this property since everyone is his or her best judge. However, i felt that a front desk guy threatening people for giving a honest feedback does not go down well in any service industry. The basic thing which they could have done is to speak to us to understand our concerns and resolve it to the best of their ability. However, they chose the other way of threating to defame my name unless I do not take back my review on the othe site.

I had less than 24 hours in Hanoi therefore location was crucial. This place is perfect. On a quiet little street in the heart of everything which couldn't be more perfect. Lily is amazing! So so helpful. Room was perfect with super comfy bed. So clean and cosy. Shower was lovely and hot too. At such a cheap price, insane!!! What more can you ask for!! Xx

It is located, clean and very kind. Breakfast is very good and delicious. The boss is very kind, and friendly. I really want to come again next time.

We really enjoyed our stay at Hanoi Focus Hotel. It's very well located, clean, tidy and modern. The staff are super friendly. A special thanks to Tracy who helped us a lot. We would definitely stay again.

We booked the hotel for 2 nights, first night we stayed in a room number 503 and had bad experience 1. Bed was combined to become queen bed thus it was not comfortable sleeping 2. There were Ants in the closet 3. The floor was not clean and the toilet/bathroom was not proper So the next day we asked them to change the room. The lady in the reception was very helpful and changed our room to 603. This was much better.

The staff are very nice, the room is clean and comfotable. I have great time in this hotel. Very convenient location in old quarter....budget friendly...receptionist ms.lieu and owner mr. Tung were allways there n very helpful....maids also very very accomodative....highly recommend this property....

It’s me, not them. I select all my hotel rooms based on Expedia’s VIP recommendations. By doing so, I get extra awards and points, for my Gold Status Membership. This VIP rated hotel is the first time that process failed. I’ve made twenty five booking with Expedia so far this year. I came very close to dropping them, after this stay. I was picked up, from the airport, as pre arranged, by the hotel. After being dropped off, I was asked to pay for the transport. Then, I was told there wasn’t a room available. Now, keep in mind, this was the first night of a FIVE night booking. I was then walked to their nearby sister hotel, the hotel that was also the breakfast location for my original hotel. The next day, I was placed in a room, on the second floor. There are only two rooms per floor. I’m guessing that because I arrived at 9:30 pm, my room was resold. All the other floors are priced higher. Being such a small hotel, there was no where to put me, without upgrading me. My second floor room had a small window that looked out to the hallway. It was like being back in the Peace Corps. At some point, the staff realized that my VIP discount, for airport transportation, didn’t happen. I was refunded the difference.

We couldn't have been happier with our stay at Rising Dragon Estate. The reception staff went so far to help us when we had logistical issues to solve and were always so friendly and obliging. The location is fantastic for many central activities and attractions in Hanoi like Sword Lake, Train Street and St Joseph's Cathedral, and also a great pick-up point for longer tours-we went to Sapa, Ha Long Bay and Nim Binh from here. An excellent experience which we will definitely repeat.

I stayed in this hotel for 2 nights before my trip to Sapa and for another night on my return. On both occasions I was allocated the exact deluxe double room on the same floor. Hotel: This small and clean hotel is located in the heart of Hanoi Old Quarter within a 2-3 minute walk to popular Ta Hien street (beer street). As I arrived I was greeted warmly by the very friendly door boy and receptionist and was offered a plate of fresh fruits and juice while they were taking care of the registration. All staff were very friendly throughout my stay, housekeeping was always on point and the general areas of the hotel spotless. I did not use the hotel wi-fi because I purchased a tourist sim card at the airport. And neither was I able to try out their complimentary breakfast. So I unable to comment on these services. Location: The airport express bus 86 as well as the big sleeper bus from Sapa stopped within a 5 minute walk to the hotel which is very convenient. The hotel is located on the eastern edge of Old Quarter so if you are arriving from the airport, inform the 'express bus 86' conductor that you would like to get off at the '142 Duong Tran Quang Khai' stop. You will save heaps compared to catching a cab from the airport. With this being my 2nd trip to Hanoi and having previously stayed in multiple other hotels in the same area (Old Quarter), I had a fair idea of the location prior to booking. What can I say, the hotel sure was in the heart of it all with coffee shops, bars, restaurants, clubs, travel agents, laundry services, a pharmacy, etc right below and all around the hotel. A popular Vietnamese BBQ restaurant 'Bo Nuong Xuan Xuan' is almost across the street from the hotel which I highly recommend. Most must see places are within walking distance from the hotel including the lake, popular egg coffee shops, train street and of course Ta Hien beer street. And I found the surroundings to be very safe. Room: A deluxe double room on a higher floor was assigned as requested which was exactly as pictured with just the right amount of space, modern and very clean. There was a mini bar, complimentary water, a safe, study desk and two small windows which unfortunately did not have much of a view. The bed was large and very comfortable and the flat screen TV had plenty of English channels including multiple music channels. The air con worked very well and kept the room nice and cold. Bathroom: I am very particular about bathrooms when booking hotels, and more often than not, I would rather have a nicer bathroom over a nicer bedroom. In this instance however I have nothing to complain about since the bathroom was equally as good as the bedroom. It was very clean, of a decent size, with a modern toilet, spacious vanity, and a large walk in shower with a rain shower head. No issues with water pressure and hot water. I stayed at this hotel at the beginning of my trip and returned. Nice hotel, staff, service, location. I left a more detailed review on onetwotrip. The administrator ordered a taxi to the airport, the cost is fixed, payment is immediate. There are motorbike rentals and bus tickets to another city. Yes, the hotel is a little outdated, but I was happy with everything.
