Tateshina Shinyu Onsen

There were bookshelves everywhere, both in the rooms and in the corridors, and books of all genres were freely available to read. I was able to enjoy a relaxing and soothing time while soaking in the hot springs and reading. This is an inn that I would like to stay at for longer and again. All of the dishes were made with fresh ingredients that had a seasonal feel to them, and I was truly satisfied. The large tatami room bath and the open-air bath both have soft hot springs that you can use as many times as you like. The ceiling of the bedrock bath was a starry sky, which made for a very soothing space.

The location is on the Tateshina Plain, half an hour's drive from the station. The mountain scenery is beautiful, and the environment inside and outside the hotel is comfortable. It is a hot spring hotel with culture and history, and the waiters are attentive.

There are no convenience stores nearby, so I would like the store to offer more.

It was introduced as a hot spring facility that can accommodate small children, so I have been using it since my child was 2 years old. The renovated Japanese-style modern rooms were quite a reference when renovating my parents' house. The last time I used Oyayu was in March 2020, so it's been a while since I last used it. I'm sure I was upgraded last time, but this time it was the room category I reserved. Room 551 at Sangetsu-tei, which is a little far from the building with the large public bath and dining area, is a room with a bed in a Japanese-style room. The features of this room are that there is no bath and the sink is right next to the entrance, but the entrance is a little dark. The toilet door is quite low and the heavy lighting in the Japanese-style room is also low, so we tall people hit our heads several times. Still, you can relax in the spacious Japanese-style room and on the sofa by the window. The TV monitor is a bit of a drawback. On the first day, we arrived late at night, so when we went to the large public bath around 11 pm, both the indoor bath and the open-air bath were a little lukewarm, which was unusual. But in the morning, the water temperature was just right. The open-air bath by the riverside has always required a reservation, but this time we were told that we could use it for free once. The next day, we immediately wrote our room number on the board in the lounge. If you stay for multiple nights, you can enjoy lunch in the lounge, which we did for the first time this time. You can choose from four types of food: soba, pasta, omelet rice, and galette, and we ordered soba and pasta. It's nice that it's free. Of course it was delicious. Children are provided with yukata, but adults wear work clothes. The pajamas are made of thick, fluffy fabric, so some people may not like them. Meals are served in private rooms, so even if small children make noise, you can eat without worrying about the eyes of others. The breakfast on the second day was Western food, and instead of yudofu, it was mushroom risotto. My child, who likes white rice, didn't like it, so we were given rice separately. I don't like cheese, so overall, I think the Japanese food from the previous day was better. Although I have listed some points of concern, this is a hot spring hotel that I would like to use again.

Despite the heavy snowfall, we arrived at the hot spring inn and found the retro-modern lobby as usual, and were warmly welcomed by the doormen, which made us breathe a sigh of relief. As part of our plan, we were able to use the newly renovated private open-air bath for free for 1 hour (normally 30 minutes free) and thoroughly enjoyed the snowy bath. Although it is cold, you will feel warm after taking a bath. The open-air bath in the large public bath had a beautiful snowy scenery, a view unique to a hot spring in a valley. Personally, I like indoor baths, and I go in and out many times to enjoy the feeling of being cured by the hot springs and feel refreshed. I did it. Since the meal content was the same as the previous stay, we had the meal content changed to one that was originally intended for those staying multiple nights, and we were able to enjoy the delicious mountain rice from Shinshu. Breakfast was mostly vegetables and had a Western-like feel, and came with yogurt and coffee, which I was grateful for as a coffee fan. I feel nostalgic about dessert bowls, or rather, the retro-modern bowls that are currently making a comeback are cute, and the taste and a**osphere were nice.
