We called in as passing by, The couple behind the bar were very friendly and attentive, the beer was good, just a shame there was no food on offer. They informed us they were opening the pub next door in the coming week. Great to see hawes getting back on its feet!

The pub's current state falls short of its former glory. I used to frequent it for its excellent Timothy Taylor’s Landlord, but the quality has declined since its takeover in late 2023. The new management seems overwhelmed, especially with their efforts to revive neighboring pubs like Crocketts and the Crown. This diversion of attention is affecting the standards at The Board. Regarding the beer, it's a universal issue with all the cask beer. The bar staff lack the finesse in pouring cask ales, resulting in overly frothy pints that require topping up, leading to significant waste.

Had been told to avoid the food but after today’s experience we will be avoiding The Board! Bought a pint and a half of Old Peculiar - it was fizzy and tasted off. When mentioning this to the landlord he said it had been alright all day and continued to serve another customer. When I returned to my table for my coat the landlord came to and said in front of all the other customers that if I’d have stayed at the bar long enough he’d have checked the barrel -in a very rude and aggressive manner. We have been customers here for 11 years and will not be returning. Old Peculiar lasts for 3 days not 3 weeks

Called in for a drink and sat in the sun with Wallace and grommet as our company. Nice pub with pleasant staff and dog friendly place. The terrace on the main street with the large crochet figures of Wallace and grommet attracted us to visit. Having said that the Theakstons bitter was excellent

We had a short break at the Board Inn last weekend, and had a lovely time. Both staff and local people were really friendly and made us most welcome. The room was perfect, spacious, warm and clean. Breakfast was first class with local products, nothing was too much trouble and the best scrambled egg I’ve had for a long time. Excellent value for money and would not hesitate to recommend and are planning to visit again next month we enjoyed it so much.

A great place to stay. The new managers Dan and Casha made us feel very welcoming, they couldn’t have done any more. The rooms were very clean at a great price, with the location on the doorstep of all other amnesties. Next time I visit Hawes I will be staying there again .

We popped in for a pint while we were waiting for our accommodation in town to be ready. Very friendly local boozer with good selection of local ales. We got chatting to a couple of ladies who were on a day trip from Leeds and enjoyed a pleasant hour or so.

To enter a virtually empty pub an be greeted by the barman with his first words “ there’s no where to sit in here “ Just rude let alone weird . Obviously it’s a local pub for local people, ( now where have I heard that one before? ) Spend your money elsewhere, they obviously don’t need it here .
