I didn't really expect much so I wasn't that disappointed. But I get where the bad reviews are coming from. If you're expecting a hotel service, you'd be disappointed.
My room was really small. Rooms are situated in what seems to be an apartment unit made into small partitions. I booked a bunk bed, but I got "upgraded" to a solo room but without a door. They just covered the door with a bedsheet haha. From what I could observe, that's the only room without door. Thought of transferring to bunk bed room a night after, but I thought I prefered having my own space even with the makeshift door. So I stayed for the next 2 nights.
The owner replied fast via whatsapp. I requested for self check-in, and instructions were on point and easy to follow. At first, I thought the room I went it belonged to somebody else because there was a small luggage under the bed. Told this to the host and he said it's his. So maybe the room I was assigned to wasn't meant to be for guests. There was an electric fan in the room.
What stands out is its LOCATION. Very near the subway, around 2 min walk to the exit. 7eleven and mcdo nearby. Famous dimsum resto called dim dim sum is in the same building. Ichiran ramen mong kok branch is also nearby.
Hostel also has washing machine, so you can do your laundry here. Shower with heater, shampoo and body wash are availbable in the two showerooms/toilets.
Overall, it is great for backpackers who just needs a place to sleep in.

After staying multiple days, I can say that this place will be a 1 night stay for the vast majority of people.
This place is barely managed, with someone coming every day just to empty the trash and add some tissue in the bathroom (and some days he skipped it). Cleaning is barely done, never in the dorm. The bedding is never changed. I had to wash mine myself )at least there is a free washing machine but no detergent).
For the beds, they're just a wooden plank with a 0.5in "mattress". And they're small, better be under 6ft
Some guests, like every hostel, are unruly and it's made worse by the fact there's no management present. Only messaging through WhatsApp

Well situated place next to Mong Kok station. Room is really small, typical Hong Kong style .
Hostel is relatively clean, 2 showers/bathroom with hot water available. Kettle and washing machine free to use

If you're going to stay in a guesthouse, I think you'd rather stay up all night.
1. It took me a long time and waste of time to find the right place because I got the wrong address to the voucher that was sent via email. However, the host didn't seem sorry at all.
2. The first time I went to bed, I found trash, dust, hair, bugs on the bunker bed and the room condition is not good.
3. It seems to be used as a living space, not a guest house, which is very different from the picture.
The refund after payment is a system that the host must acppet, but the host did not accept it, so I was forced to stay there.

Let's start off with what's good about booking this hostel. Overall, the location and proximity is very good because of how close it is to Mongkok station. Fa Yuen Street Market, Ladies Market, and Sneakers Street are the main points of interest in Mongkok. These places I mentioned are just a couple minutes away from HK hostel.
Now, let's talk about the service and amenities. HK hostel is a budget hostel so I wasn't expecting a top-tier service. It was below average. The room given to me was very small. I saw the room I stayed at beforehand but I didn't know it was actually small irl. I would compare my room to a matchbox (not exaggerating lol). I want to change my room to a bigger one but I guess the hostel was fully booked because of CNY.
What made my stay nightmare-ish was the noise coming from the clothes dryer. Each time someone uses the dryer machine, I'll get startled because of the terrible noise that resonates throughout the halls of the hostel. It was painfully disturbing and I didn't have a sound sleep because of the noise. Be prepared for the loud noises from other rooms as well. Since walls are thin and flimsy, noise can pass through easily. It also smelled like smoke inside the hostel and it never went away until the day I left.
The amenities and facilities are so so. The bathroom is squeaky clean (with warm and cold water), the sink has running water, there's a fridge as well. The amenities were just good for the price you paid. There's no front desk staff to bring your queries to. You have to contact the front desk staff in advance through We Chat to make your booking seamless and hassle-free.
To sum it up, this hostel will be suitable for people who:
1. Want to be close to Mongkok city center and Mongkok MTR Station.
2. Budget traveller who doesn't care so much about hotel beauty and aesthetics.
3. Someone who has a tight budget but still wants to enjoy Hong Kong.

Don't go here, it's a rip off. Booked a room online and when we arrived they denied us a room and would't even talk to us. We were left out without a place to stay.
