Magnetic Sunsets Resort

We stayed for 5 nights in a 3 bedroom apar**ent. It was very clean and spacious, with 2 bathrooms and a well equipped kitchen. We had a large corner balcony overlooking the beach. The apar**ents are in a perfect location in Horseshoe Bay, right across from the playground and beach. We could watch our kids in the playground while sitting on the balcony. There was a convenience store downstairs that sold everything we needed for a few days if we wanted to self cater. However there were so many restaurants and cafes in walking distance that we dined out every night. A small pool out the back which our kids enjoyed when the beach got too hot for them and us. We had the pool area to ourselves the whole time we were there. Yes, you do have to pay for the apar**ents 2 weeks prior to the stay but that is noted on the booking conditions when you book direct. We actually initially booked to travel last year and had to cancel due to a lockdown the day prior and the owner refunded our payment for which I was grateful. Highly recommend these apar**ents.

I have stayed here for around 10 years. The location is perfect for us - directly opposite Horseshoe Bay with lovely views of the water from the balconies. The units are spacious and well appointed. This year however, there was a change that we didn't know about. The units are individually owned now and there is no on site manager at any time. There were no pool towels in the room and I had to phone the booking number to ask if they still have them and she replied she wasn't sure and she would find out? Two were later left at my door but they certainly weren't standard issue. The room compendium states the reception hours are 8.30-6 but the reception area is now boarded up and is part of a residence. This is now more of a Stayz experience however it was fine - just different. We had 2 of the units for 8 days and were washing and drying our own towels, buying our own toilet paper and garbage bags as there was no-one we could see to ask for more supplies. Magnetic island never fails to please and we still had a wonderful time with the family.

We stayed on the top floor in the corner unit. The apar**ent was really light and spacious, everything fresh and clean. All facilities needed were included, and it was really useful to have a laundry. The apar**ents have a private pool and are on the waterfront with the safe swimming area. Pool/beach towels provided. The building is along from the bus stop and close to the pub, convenience store and restaurants and cafes. Very quiet at night. Manager is on site if anything is needed. We loved our week here and would highly recommend. Price was excellent for the standard of the facility and the location.

Fabulous position opposite beach. We arrived from a late ferry but the system of lockbox check in worked well and we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the apar**ent. Luckily the convenience store underneath was open until 6.30pm so we just managed to find what we needed for breakfast the following day. What a great spot!! The local bus stops just a few metres away. It would have been nice to have met Margaret who runs the resort. The pool is lovely. The beach is perfect. Love the place .

Did you mean: This accomodation was very clean BUT women manager insists you pay 2 weeks out! We booked back in October and requested full ocean view and 2 single beds. These requests were ignored. Manager insisted we leave bags out in the open for hours before our room was available. These contained life saving ***** and equipment. Manager had a couldn't care attitude. Never again

2A stayed for 3 nights Excellent huge apar**ent, very clean and with everything needed for a self-contained stay. Our apar**ent had a balcony with table and chairs and a view out to the ocean. Magnetic Island, in line with multiple other tourist locations, has suffered from the effects of COVID. Virtually every apar**ent and business has a For Sale sign on it. There is a brochure on the table in the apar**ent with details on each apar**ent as the entire block of Magnetic Sunset apar**ents and associated businesses is for sale. We had many bookings in place when COVID hit and Magnetic Sunsets were the only people to not provide a refund, which was disappointing. We hired a car for our first day to get to the apar**ent and get our bearings on the island but used the Bus after this. Hiring a car is convenient to get to/from Horseshoe Bay and Nelly Bay but, unless you have a 4WD to explore off the bitumen, then the bus covers all routes and places you can access. Need to know: • Great location near cafes, beach, bus • Bus is just down the road and a good option to get around with a bit of planning • Has an elevator but is very slow (but better than nothing) • Strict non-flexible booking terms (including regarding check in time)

Long overdue review. We had the most beautiful time. Wonderful staff and accommodation. Grateful 🙏 So lucky to have had a break from covid-19 madness. Just wonderful and healing ❤ Thank you again, we look forward to returning in the future. Helen and Brett

Immaculately presented. We were very happy with our stay and will definitely look to book here again for future accommodation at Magnetic Island. Lovely lady who helped us with check in and made us feel very welcome throughout our stay.

I booked this accommodation through *********** months before COVID restrictions began. *********** NEVER ask for payment ahead of time but this resort did. I paid in good faith $200 and got an email to say I had to pay the balance by 16 July, 2 weeks before I was due to arrive. Lucky I didn't pay that balance. I own 2 motels in NSW and have had to daily deal with cancellations as people haven't been able to honour their stay due to COVID. Each time it was disappointing,for sure. So I tried to cancel this booking because of the current Sydney lock down. I emailed *********** to this effect and 5 minutes later got a call from the resort woman. She couldn't have cared less about COVID restrictions and refused to refund the $200. I suggested she had an obligation to refund the money but then the woman started yelling down the phone. That was too much. I imagine many people have been on the end of this woman's vitriol because they would have paid a deposit too. I suggest anyone naive enough to believe this woman's bluff about deposits (I hesitated but paid because I was sure at the time I'd be able to go) should stay elsewhere. I will take this matter up with ***********.
