Lighting in the hotel was very dim. Would be better if it was brighter.

It is very clean and transportation is very good. I also liked their breakfast 👏

Where do I begin, to express the amount of troubles I had with Carlton Hotel Istanbul. At the check in, receptionist made mistake, charging my account twice for the stay. After I notice that, I went down to show him that mistake have been made on my account and there was a duplicate charge for my stay.He was keep repeating that he done nothing, I asked two other receptionists if they could correct the mistake, but they were kinda getting angry, I asked for manager but he/she was never seem to be there. Long story short, manager promised refund by email,but I never received it. Have to do chargeback trough bank to get my money back. Only good thing I find about this hotel is location. Generally, it's very dark everywhere, hallways, entrance, breakfast room. My room was not properly cleaned.AC not maintained, very loud, TV was working first 2 days, after that was gone.There were holes in curtains, I presume from cigarettes, as on the windowsill there was a lot of ash. Carpets were desperate looking, furniture as well. Cleaning staff was nice, they left fresh towels every day and toiletries, but cleaning was not up to standard for 4 star hotel. Bathroom is small, sewage smell from toilet, shower was leaking, bathroom was full of water after every shower. Breakfast room was very dark, you can barely see what you are eating. Food had strange taste, juices tasteless, some of them very sugary.Coffee was fine. There is a tipping box in breakfast room, but it is self service, so I don't quite understand the concept of that. I really cannot understand ,how is this hotel classiffied 4 star. I stayed in 2 Carlton hotels before in different countries, and they were spotless. I should have trusted reviews of this hotel, and not made booking ,solely relying on the name of it. Do yourself favour and book better place to stay.Istanbul is a beautiful city!

First the positive parts: Good selection at breakfast and great location. Now the negative: Small-narrow rooms, AC failed every now and then, it either had too much power or for no reason started to boost heat at 40ºC (in summer) which turned our room into a hammam. We asked the staff to fix it and they did...after we called 3 times and the situation, at 11 pm, was unbearable. Then we stayed at a different room on the second floor.. it was hard to walk with our luggage as there wasn't any space for it in the room, plus we had a window and an outside glass door that connected directly to a dark alley. The door had a chain but still it felt unsafe and noisy. We won't be staying again here. Our breakfast was included but we were leaving at 6 am so we asked the front desk if we could have some early breakfast / somthing just to nibble before leaving the hotel. The front desk told us it would possible but maybe not, that we would find out at 6 am !? Then of course at 6 there was nothing ready. (We were actually in a tour and the people staying at other hotels in the same street in supposedly to be hotels of inferior category but they got their early breakfast boxes). Horrible place, stay elsewhere.

The hotel and staff are horrible, breakfast is only good for a glass of water, they don't do any omelette or proper breads and staff is really rude. On the top rooms are dirty, concreted walls and carpet are really filthy. Bathrooms shower are like 1 sq metre where you can hardly move, it's better to spend another 20 pounds to stay in a better hotel,only point they get is for their location. The pic attached is of night Dury manager who was not only rude but had no training in customer service, totally frustrated guy, never had any kind of this horrible experience. Moreover they don't give you water everyday or even tea jn room service that's their policy which is not mentioned anywhere. Staff are just road side horrible individuals who are not at all trained. Hotel is just working due to its location.

Terrible - we were scammed by the reception staff as we left the hotel. We asked them to order a taxi and upon leaving were told to pay the reception staff for it, who would then pay the driver the fee (receptionist was older with chin length hair). We got in the taxi and he started driving away only to confirm it was x amount. We told him we had paid the reception staff, as instructed, he then pulled over and ran inside angrily. Thankfully he managed to get the money back, however the reception staff conned us out of £10 worth (in Turkish money) as they gave him less than they’d told us it would cost. As soon as we arrived back in the uk we called our travel agent, who then raised it as a complaint with the hotel, who classically denied any knowledge of this. Nothing was resolved. Also had a terrible experience with staff and guests chain smoking in the hotel despite it being illegal (staff confirmed it was) which led to my partner having an asthma attack and me (who has no breathing problems) struggling. Don’t stay here.

The Hotel is average, the room for 3 people was like a suite , big and comfortable with two bathrooms, but it has a weird smell which we could support because we came back only to sleep. The staff are amazing, especially Youssef who helped us a lot, they are so helpful, they did all what we asked with a big smile. There is also this small café of the Hotel, people are really amazing which made our journey amazing. I really recommend this hotel.

I was on a short stay in Istambul with a co-worker. We booked a twin bed room and when we arrived(late at night) we were told that the hotel was full and there were no twinbeds, so we had to stay one night in a double bed. Nevertheless, The Hotel is well located, near to the most important sites to visit and The staff is very nice. Breakfast could be better for Europeans. It's more suitable for Asians. The rooms are small and they could be cleaner, the carpets needed to be vacummed better ( Idon't recommend for someone suffering from allergies).

This is not a four star hotel. For me it's a 2 star. The rooms are small also the room stinks the old carpets must be cleaned or the rooms must be tiled. We slip in the shower because the shower floor was a wall tile. Shower are very small. TV is tiny not sure if it works. The reception cannot speak English commication is bad. Breakfast is bad the fruit flies on the fruit because it's not fresh. This place isn't worthit.

TDLR: staff and guests smoke in the rooms despite it being illegal. Staff are friendly, rooms are nice, comfy and modern (but with weird headboards. One vegan breakfast option (toast and salad). Stayed here for three nights. On the first two nights someone was chain smoking in the room near us - it seems like there are no working smoke alarms. It stunk and we had to barricade the door with the throw and run air con full time just to make it liveable. This meant my partner had his first asthma attack in four years and even I, who have no breathing problems, had to take his asthma inhaler as I was struggling. The staff did call the room to ask them to stop, after we asked if we could change rooms but couldn’t due to lack of space, but this didn’t help. I’m shocked the person wasn’t asked to leave as smoking in hotels is illegal. To make matters worse, we asked if people could smoke and the staff said yes (laws say otherwise) and the staff themselves were smoking in the spa area! We had a Turkish hammam experience at the spa (£50 each if cash paying), this wasn’t bad but my masseuse left half way and was replaced with another. Wasn’t great at communicating what was happening. The staff also smoked outside the massage room (as was evident by the smell and ashtray with cigarettes in), which led to a less pleasant than usual massage. They have an eco policy of reusing towels which is great - but no option for bedding. They didn’t provide reusable mugs in the rooms and only give bottled water, shampoos etc came in tiny bottles and they do provide toiletries which are, again, full of plastic. Looking into how to further their green footprint would be great to see. Staff did not respond to emails or Facebook messages asking about vegan options. I wouldn’t have booked if I knew all they have for breakfast is salad and toast for vegans. Vegetarians and omnivores would eat well here. Overall, I wouldn’t recommend staying here until they sort out their smoke alarms and staff smoking habits. Recommendations: 1. Sort out the smoke alarms and enforce not smoking in hotel rooms better. 2. Provide vegan milk and/or yoghurt for breakfast. 3. Swap the plastic cotton buds for bamboo and the tiny bottles for wall mounted or bigger refillable ones - like I’ve seen at other 5* hotels. Offer an option to leave the bedding unchanged.

We had a very great time in this hotel. Big and comfortable room, really clean. Mr. Etem and Mrs. Guleser were amazing and very hospitable. They were helpful, qualified, and friendly. We truly appreciate their help and attention. Public transport choices are in the very vicinity of the hotel.

This hotel is an absolute joke. Where do I even start? The room is small, old and smelly. The bed is hard and uncomfortable. The window is broken so it keeps popping open on its own, and even when you close it there's a major gap that lets in air, bugs, smoke and sound from the laughing hyenas playing cards downstairs. The TV is tiny and I can't confirm that it works since it looked pointless to even try. The bathroom is okay but the shower is less than 1m x 1m, I'm thin and it was uncomfortable for me getting in and out. The door to the hotel downstairs is always left open which allows smoke to travel up and into your room, the room door has a major gap underneath. The worst part was the lazy, good for nothing reception, these people have no shame and don't give a @#$& about you. I was sick and dehydrated and asked them for water, their response was "no, go buy from outside" I could have died. The owner of this hotel is the devil himself and this place is not suitable for humans but rather zoo animals. Whoever thinks this hotel is good must be drunk. Breakfast is a joke. There's nothing upscale about it as it says here on google. If you're thinking about booking here DON'T, and if you already did LEAVE, they offer no refund SHOCKER, this place isn't worth it even if the cost was half. Do yourself a big favor and don't stay here. One of the worst hotels I've ever stayed at and the worst service ever! This place should be demolished.

The hotel itself is a good and tidy one with nice location which comprises some main destinations of Istanbul nearby. Public transport selections are in the very vicinity of hotel. Visibly personnel is also very qualified, helpful and hospitable. Especially Halil helped us a lot since our arrival till departure providing us with all useful information about what we asked, as well as speaking in 3 languages fluently. Wonderful job!
