The heritage Kandalama Hotel is in the heart of the Gungal near a lake. The hotel was designed with consideration and respect for the environment, the animals that live there and the nature that surrounds the hotel.
The room is cozy and well-equipped and includes a balcony overlooking the jungle. The infinity pool overlooks a lake where elephants and birds stay. We received a pleasant welcome from the hotel staff. The dining room is immersed in green and the breakfast is great. We received excellent service and personal attention from the entire staff at the hotel. We arrived at the hotel without luggage and they made sure to coordinate the arrival of the luggage for us.
We liked Nalinda the kind guide from the hotel who took us on a morning tour and since then we became friends. Nalinda took care of our well-being even after we left the hotel. Thank you very much for a pleasant stay. Definitely recommended for those who want to rest and relax in a dreamy place.

Nice service and great view!
Specially in the early morning, standing on the terrace waiting for the sun rises, magnificent landscape view and colorful scenery.
The decoration and facilities in the room have great taste too.

Amazing hotel, wonderful hospitality and beautiful views. If you’re visiting Danbulla/Sigiriya, I would recommend this place if you’re up for pleasant experience. Special shout-out to one of the staff, tall young chap who works evening shifts (didn’t get his name), aided us with booking a tuk tuk for our early morning trip to sigiriya rock and even checked with us after we came back our trip. Outstanding.

Can't recommend this Heritance Kandalama enough - amazing location, everyone who worked there was brilliant and friendly, rooms were big and clean, the food (breakfast and dinner) was incredible and they kindly organised all sorts of trips on our behalf at a fair rate.

Beautiful resort! High level of service. Very peaceful and beautifully located. Highly recommended. We were supposed to stay one night, but we added an extra night. The building is set uniquely in the jungle and has a beautiful infinity pool. Rooms have wooden panelling and air a different era.
Bathroom could use a little modernization, but not a big issue. Hot water was plentiful, room service was very tasty. For travel to and from the resort we used Athalanga, as we read the hotel overcharges for taxi’s.

Absolutely stunning architecture which accommodates and works with the natural rock formations, the hotel looks like it sprung straight out of earth as a part of the forest. Incredibly helpful and hospitable staff. Beautiful view of Sigiriya and Dambulla rock. We saw elephants swimming in the Kandalama reservoir from our room. All-in-all an amazing stay!

I stayed there for the second time. It is a famous heritage hotel with a good ecological environment. The whole hotel is built in the mountains and forests. It is very secluded and private. There are many animals, especially monkeys. The suite is large enough, but the hardware facilities are still a bit old. There is even a sofa that breaks when sitting on it. Fortunately, it was handled in time and the service attitude is still serious and responsible. The buffet dinner feels improved this time and is suitable for Chinese stomachs. The breakfast is just so-so. I experienced the spa, which is not cheap. The facilities are still slightly old compared to the better spa shops in China, and they don’t even provide disposable underwear. But the overall service level is still worth the price. You should experience this hotel when you come to Sri Lanka.
