Hampton Inn Kirksville

Kirksville|2.91km from Adair Co Historical Society
We have stayed several times at this location as we try to stay with Hilton brand hotels. This particular visit was less than okay. This hotel is not new and it is showing it’s age. It could be better taken care of and that is the issue. Our room was alright but the motion detecting air conditioning is always a headache. Upon entering the room the temperature was always 74-75 degrees. As soon as you walked 8 feet in the compressor kick on and started to cool. The temperature then would get extremely cold as they have the floor mounted units that blow directly onto the bed. Our bed had been made with only a sheet, no blanket our comforter which was odd. Housekeeping must have been distracted and forgot to finish? We had to call down and request something to ward off the air hitting us. No answer at front desk the first time after 40 rings. Finally got someone and they did come eventually. We stayed 3 nights and housekeeping came in and took a wet towel from the floor but never picked up or emptied the trash the entire time. Never made the beds nicer, nor replenished the toiletries. Covid is not the issue now. Breakfast was moderate, but no coffee at 8:00 just means staff isn’t on the ball. I asked someone when I could finally find a worker and they were quite surly that they might have to make more. The worst part of the stay was when we took our 7 year old to the pool. Talk about gross, it’s steps, walls and bottom are covered with algae! Bright green algae that stunk like being near a pond. Apparently they neither use chlorine nor clean their pool here. All in all, it wasn’t the worst hotel ever, but it isn’t been operated to a very high standard. Time to try the Holiday Inn.

We arrived past midnight so we were very late for check in. However, the receptionist was very friendly and handed us the cards for our room. The room was kept in a clean and pristine condition and the bed was very comfy. Pleasantly enjoyed my stay.
