Great place to be based in to check out Kunming. There are daily planned activities which we didn’t participate in due to the lack of time. We needed up paying for breakfast despite the booking saying breakfast was included so we would recommend to clarify that beforehand. The restaurant has ample vegetarian options and although we only ate breakfast at the restaurant it seemed like a great option for lunch and dinner. We went to bed early as we weren’t feeling well and the hostel was a bit noisy until about midnight. After that it was quiet and peaceful. Highly recommend.

Fantastic hostel/hotel with a great cafe and restaurant. Loads of choice for food and great atmosphere. Enjoyed our stay very much and will always come back.

Really really good. Nice room. Social cafe/bar area. There is a waterfall in the courtyard. Truly an oasis.

The location of the hostel is quite good. It’s only a few minutes walk to the nearest metro and Cui Hu 翠湖. There are a few flights of stairs where there is no lift before you can reach the rooms.

Great hostel and very helpful service! The hostel also offers a special activity every day, which you can join e.g. City tour, movie night...

This is my favourite place to stay in Kunming. Location is perfect, just a few minutes from Green Lake and the Huashan Xilu metro station. Staff is very friendly and helpful. As for the rooms, they are small but convenient and comfortable, and very clean. But what really makes Upland really special in my opinion is the lovely courtyard and terrace. Highly recommend staying here!

This is a more relaxed hostel in Kunming . They do have seated toilet. The food is wonderful. Next time if I come I will choose this hostel again .

I had a good stay. The hostel is generally clean. Some of the staff speak very little english. They help me carry my luggage during checkin to the elevator. The breakfast is great. The have restaurant with nice food. Amazing view from rooftop. They provide self laundry service including dryer (with payment alipay or wechat). Hairdryer available. Slippers are provided. Shower cream & shampoo available. If you traveling from kunming railway station you can order Didi (uber/grab in China) or taxi if you want relax ride. Put the address: 92 huashan west road. Or by metro. From the station entrance/ exit, there’s metro line 1, you have to transfer to line 2, then line 3 and last one line 5. Line 5 exit is just a walking distance from the hostel. Google map is working fine for me. Walking distance to green lake park (cuihu park) and the ancient city.

Nice hotel to stay in Kunming area, a little bit walk to Kunming old street, the room not so big, bare to put put luggage but is ok for 1night stay, chilling and youngster vibes

Overall: very good exerpience, particularly as a hostel. Would recommend to others. Pros: - Friendly, communicative atmosphere with staff and other guests, essential fot a good hostel - bilingual service, mostly at front desk but elsewhere too - regular weekly events - cheap and convenient postcards for sale in the lobby to send home or have for a keep sake - rooms have sufficient amenities - food and drink option variety and affordability - excellent location near cuihu (pretty lake district with good food options nearby) and the kunming laojie (old street) - some basic things like water and convient noodles are sold at fair prices at the front desk - information about tours and travel available in the lobby - elevator available to access most rooms, though some stairs will be necessary in the lobby Cons: - some of the weekly events didn't seem to occur at all - cleanliness wasn't perfect: some areas of the cafe have lots of flies and some parts of the room, such as the bathroom, had a bit of grime - peanuts on a caesar salad? no! (I'm allergic to peanuts and didn't think to ask if they put peanuts on a caesar salad because it just isn't normally done) - the prepaid breakfast options are too limited. some additional options for what toppings could go in the noodles or what fruit or jam you receive with the western breakfast would help a lot - quality of some food items are just so so - occaisionally a little noisy in the rooms (but that's just because a group of kids stayed nearby + it's a hostel so it's almost to be expected)

Excellent hostel particularly suited for youths as its name! There were delicious western foods and coffee choices at the cafe, as well as special activities offered on particular days. The location is very close to the park and old street which can go by walking. Additionally, if we feel hungry during the late night, there were road side BBQ restaurants just 5 min walk from the hotel

The lift was not working when we were there. Climbing up 9 flights of stairs wasn't fun. Heater didn't work very well - hot air was blowing out but somehow wasn't able to heat up the entire room. Overall it was alright for the price

Great hostel. Very good customer service. Friendly staff. The rooms are ok. I enjoyed a lot the nice, chill and fun ambience in the restaurant area. There is a pool table to play and meet people. The food and drinks for breakfast and dinner are delicious. And the location is excellent, just 2 minutes walking to the Green Lake Park, which is a beautiful place to visit. I extended my stay one more day at the hostel because of my good experience there.
