I originally booked one night, but my plans changed and I needed to stay two nights in Tekapo. I tried to extend my stay for an extra night, but they were fully booked. Despite repeated attempts to communicate, the hotel refused to either refund my original booking or allow me to extend my stay in the same room. This forced me to book another Airbnb, which meant we had to check out by 10 AM and check in at 3 PM for two consecutive days. We barely got any rest and it significantly impacted our experience in Tekapo. On the day of check-out, after finishing breakfast around 10 AM in the dining area, I wanted to do my makeup at that spot, but I was kicked out! An extremely rude older woman told me that the dining area is only for breakfast and dinner. I wasn't hindering her from clearing tables or cleaning, and I even offered to move to a nearby table to do my makeup, but that wasn't allowed either. Ugh, capitalism! In short, if your travel itinerary isn't 100% set in stone, I highly do not recommend this hotel, as they don't allow changes or cancellations and have a terrible attitude!!

The room I received was vastly different from what was shown on Trip.com. I booked a deluxe lake view room, and the actual room looked like picture 1, while Trip.com showed picture 2. Excuse me? My "deluxe lake view room" only offered a view of a pond, and I had to go out onto the balcony to even catch a glimpse of the lake. I don't understand. I even went to the front desk to confirm if I had been given the wrong room, and the hotel insisted it was correct. So, I'm not sure if this is a Trip.com issue or a hotel issue. Secondly, the service was really subpar. Considering this is an Accor property, it was the worst service I've experienced in New Zealand. The front desk staff were very cold. The Wi-Fi password provided in the room was incorrect; I tried connecting for ages without success. When I called to inquire, they told me I had to go to the front desk myself. Speechless.

Facing directly onto Lake Tekapo, and conveniently located across from a large supermarket and a shopping street, it's also within walking distance of the Church of the Good Shepherd. The location is absolutely fantastic. Staying in the villa was so enjoyable! The decor is lovely, facilities are comprehensive, and the shower is wonderful. The kitchen is especially well-equipped. I wish I could stay for a month, just gazing at the lake every day and living here. In the evening, you can even stargaze right from the garden.
