Traveling throughout Gansu province can tend to be hectic so it’s quite lovely to find a spot like Kaoshan Daying to stay at. David was very friendly and helpful, especially with his English language skills. He was always available by WeChat to answer questions. The yurts are spacious and have necessary amenities including electric blankets and heaters, as well as hot water kettles. They are also clean, most importantly. The shared bathrooms provide shower flip flops and clean towels with lockers and hairdryers. There are sinks outside the yurts and they are also very clean. The restaurant provides a large variety of ingredients to make a delicious hotpot. It was a quiet night when we stayed and we were able to get a great night of sleep. Our stop there was quite short, only 12 hours, but we would’ve liked to have stayed longer.

I packed a basket of steamed stuffed buns, and they were full of gnocchi, which was really bad. [Service] Very proactive. In summer, when you arrive, you can cut melons and eat them to ease the waiting for check-in, which just makes everyone feel the sweetness of the Northwest. [Room] My standard room is good, and the separation of dry and wet is very important. The parent-child room said that the air conditioner is below, so the attic is terribly hot. It is recommended that the distribution fan be used to turn on the air conditioner.

The hotel is in the innermost part of the colorful Danxia town. The hotel is very quiet, not as noisy as there are many small shops and homestays outside. The parking lot is quite large, so you can park safely, but no one is in charge. The design of the hotel is quite interesting, the garden is the same, there is a courtyard in the middle, surrounded by rooms, the floor is not high, there are 3 floors. The rooms are full of floor-to-ceiling windows, you can see the courtyard in the middle, which is quite comfortable. You can also dry clothes on the roof and watch the sunrise and sunset. Just put your room card at the front desk when you check out, it's good.

Zhang Dongmei 张冬梅 who checked us in was above and beyond the nicest and most helpful person. She made us feel very welcome and took a lot of the stress out of being in a new area and not being able to speak Chinese. she helped us understand the ticketing for the danxia colourful mountains and arranged transport for us when we needed it. She really went out of her way to take care of us and we are very grateful to her. the inn is very conveniently located within walking distance (15min) of the ticket office to the Zhangye Danxia Geopark. there are many restaurants and small convenience stores around. I also recommend the Yugur grassland which is about 20min away by taxi.
