Hotel is in very good location ,very big with a big rooms.We stayed in the studio room 210 ,is like 1 bedroom apartment with kitchen,jacuzzi we was impressed of the size but we had a leak from the ceiling water dripping on the carpet,so we vent to reception to complain and ask for another room because it was not safe with electricity.Receptionist was not happy about as complaining she gave us another room no sorry nothing.we checked the new room and it was much smaller and no kitchen,so we had to go back and ask again for another room.So we went to new room 216 it was nice but toilet was dirty and toilet paper holder broken.Nice hotel but a bit tired

Fantastic location beautifully clean have stayed here b3fore totaly changed in respect of more of a party hotel they have got rid of a great deal of the football memorabilia more like a boutique hotel .some parts of hotel is looking tired .our room was good i would suggest a few little things I had no where to sit and put my make up on and couldn't see in bathroom mirror as had to lean over sink on my tip toes also trying to plug kettle in finding a socket that's not on the floor .Just a few little tweeks

Firstly the bad points- *The Carpark was full of old furniture from the hotel and empty beer barrier preventing you getting parked, *The hotel has turned into more of a party venue hotel rather than the beautiful hotel it was when I last came with my daughter 2018. *tap in the kitchen area in our room only let out hot water and unfortunately the room stunk of what I could only describe as a sewerage smell? Whether the drains needed maintenance I’m not sure but I I just sprayed some deodorant around to help make it not smell quite as bad because I was so tired I didnt want to have to swap rooms. *There was also no phone to call reception which I found strange and the remote for the tv was missing the back of it. I put all this bad points down to the fact that when I previously came it was owned by someone who really cared about the maintenance and reputation of the hotel but now I’ve found it’s since been sold it seems the new owner isn’t as bothered and all what the shankley represented before eg, maintenance, luxury, football themed has kind of turned more into a tacky themed hotel and doesn’t feel classy anymore. I’d probably not stay here again as it’s not the same as it was and just the whole feel of hand hotel is different. It’s not the best if you have come with kids as there’s lots of drunken guests in the hotel and it’s noisey but thank goodness it’s a large hotel as you don’t hear the noise from downstairs. We were on level 3. Our room was lovely and big with a large double bed and 2 twins pushed together, a kitchen area with tea bags and coffee (no biscuits but that didn’t bother us as we had snacks with us The upsides were- *Staff were pleasant, *breakfast was amazing with everything you could possibly as for, *hotel was mainly quiet on the 3rd floor, room was on the whole clean and had a hair dryer, iron and ironing board with a safe. * . The bathroom was lovely especially the bath as it was a jacuzzi with a waterfall shower. Everything was clean from what I could see.

Okay. Bathroom wasn’t very clean but the location was good. Staff were friendly enough. Room size was very big. For the correct occasion (big group/stag party etc) this is the perfect hotel. The bed was comfy. The pint of Moretti I ordered at the bar was overpriced and flat also. Personally I wouldn’t return but definitely serves its purpose well.

Room was ok location great however tv didn’t work in room and the blue tooth speakers too little disappointed we also ended up in a disabled access room so no bath heavily pregnant would have been great for a bath or just the things in room to work last hotel stay u too my baby arrives overall disappointing wouldn’t book again

Overall the hotel looks good but lacks basic cleanliness and amenities. Marks on the bed sheet, dirt around the bed. Hair in the bathtub on arrival and the toilet had not been cleaned. Used Suger and tea wrappers left. No phone in the room to contact reception. Staff did see to these issues swiftly, but it's not what you'd expect from a four star hotel.

Location was great as it's at the bottom of the main town in Liverpool. Across the road has a few places to eat which were nice especially the meat place. We arrived at 2:30pm thinking we could have checked in earlier than the 3pm as most hotels don't mind however we were told no and no earlier than 3pm. Also which doesn't state is the parking you have to pay for even though the hotel owns the car park and was informed even the staff have to pay parking which is shocking. Also there is a £50 deposit which uninformed of as well. The room was nice but I would say it's slightly run down it felt like a millionaire had taken it over spent a fortune on the place and passed it off to a family member and they didn't care about it. When we spoke to the staff they mostly said the same thing it's just a party hotel and hens/stag events which is such a shame. The staff were pleasant especially the guy in the restaurant who got me a coffee great to talk to and knowledgeable. Amenities were ok but nothing special. I will say however trying to phone this place is a nightmare they don't answer the phone. I would book again but not with family but friends would be a great option.

Booked this for a girls weekend. 6 of us in total. Staff were lovely & friendly. Room was clean. Location was amazing 4minute walk to Matthew street. Would definitely recommend & book again.

Absolutely appalled when I walked in to see all shankly items had gone and been covered by a gorilla theme. You come here for the memories of shankly hence the hotel name. If I knew this I definitely would not of stayed here. Disgusting. You also have to pay £15 to use their parking on top of the rest you have paid to stay here. Guests shouldn’t have to. Bill they have let you down.

Visited here in 2018, they had the facility to listen to music through a blue tooth speaker built in to the walls, soundproof, and have since removed this option. Unless customers want to upgrade to a level 4 or 5 room (in which I bumped into two people in the lift going up to level 5 who said they couldnt connect either and that its a scam. The hotel have removed all window handles so you cant open the windows in the room even though they have catch cables to keep the windows from opening more than a little already. Air con was broken and on arrival the reception told us that the cost of the hotel room being paid before arrival wasnt enough. We had to pay a £50 deposit EACH to be given a room card. We complained to the hotel reception on 3 different occasions and were told to report to trip.com Trip then spent every day for a week chasing up the hotel for a response on the complaint, in which the hotel said no complaints were made and denied all claims of our experience. Trip.com offered 30£ equivalent in trip.com points to be added to my account, I accepted this and trip only provided £21.08 to my account due to 'the exchange and transfer rate from GBP to trip.com tokens. So Ive been fully had off here. Will never stay at the shankly again, it was embarrassing to invite and be so excited over returning to a place that was so impressive the first time to be messed around and disappointed so much the second. Will also stick to *********** in future
