The Upper Largo Hotel & Restaurant

We went to this hotel for some food Friday 3rd of May as we entered there was at least 6 maybe more empty tables we were told there wasn't any available tables inside but we could sit outside, as there was nothing else in the area to get something to eat we agreed , we got our food which was lovely we were in a small gazebo as I wasn't the height of summer it was quite cold seemed very strange as none of the vacant table were reserved and were still available when we left. We feel had we been accommodated in the restaurant it would have encouraged us to stay longer and spent more money.

What a wonderful dinner. Staff lovely, service friendly & professional. Food so good. We had prawn cocktail, dressed crab & chocolate & coconut tart as well as mackerel pate & scampi. All meals delicious & well presented. Good value & no complaints at all. Dined at Crusoe which was terrible so Upper Largo was a pleasant surprise & would recommend for a great meal. Thanks to all the team for a very lovely night.

What a gem! After a day of sightseeing in Fife our family of 5 was turned away from at least 7 restaurants between St. Andrews and Astruther. We luckily stumbled upon this spot on our drive back to Edinburgh. Live music, incredible food, and impeccable service. Perfect!

My wife treated me to an overnigt stay at this hotel - which she found through Wowcher - as a pre-birthday treat. The deal was an overnight bed & breakfast with 3 course evening meal included also - great value for money. The hotel is situated at the south end of the village, and although right next to a busy road, we did not get any disturbance from this. Our room was excellent (Apar**ent 4), we were actually shocked at the size of the room and facilities it offered, it was like living in a beautiful and tastefully decorated one bedroom flat. The room was spotless, as well as all the other parts of the hotel we saw. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was very clean and offered a selection of toiterires to be used if required. The main room was comfortable with a large TV on the main wall. A dining table was also there to be used if clients wanted to self-cater in the lovely kitchen provided. One of the most recognisible aspects of our stay was the friendliness and kindness of all the staff. Each member we met had a smile and would have a chat with you about your plans for the day, etc. The hotel is going through some renovation at the moment, but again this did not spoil our stay in any way. The only slightly negative aspect was my evening meal. We had read the excellent reviewws of previous patrons who had eaten there, and because of these excellent reviews I was slighlty disappointeted with my meal (Haggis Lasagne) which appeared to be overcooked (probably microwaved too much to heat it up). My wife certainly enjoyed her meal - Burn's Night Special. We would certainly stay there again, and definately recommend it to family and friends, as well as others considering a visit/stay.

Whenever we go here, it is always lovely. The staff are delightful and the food really good. They have nothing to worry about, in terms of any competition from the ‘refurbished hotel’ in Lower Largo. Just go to The Upper Largo’

We often eat here and this week we were extremely disappointed with the service and meal. The young girl that served us was in such a hurry, before we were all seated she was asking for a drinks order, we hadn’t even gotten time to sit down, then clearing empty plates while I was still eating my meal really!! She obviously wanted home. Not impressed. The macaroni was awful, just boiled pasta with a lump of cheese on the top, no taste and not the standard that usually expect from the restaurant. The steak pie pastry was cooked on the top and soggy in the middle. Really disappointing. For what your charging I think the chef needs to up his game!

We’ve eaten there several times with family and friends and always rated the food. The burger was like a frozen burger and the fish wasn’t its usual quality. Will give it another go but it would definitely put me off if this was now the standard.

We visited yesterday to celebrate my mum’s birthday. The food was plentiful and delicious. We were walk ins but advisable to book in advance as this is a popular spot. The staff are friendly and helpful. Not my first visit and definitely not my last!
