PREMISES AND SERVICE: There was no toilet brush in the WC, and no such brush was given to me on request, and thus the WC pan (”throne”) did smell unpleasantly and look soiled for a while; I had to flush the toilet 7-9 times to get it completely cleaned. The walls and door of the room were very thin and I could clearly hear, at any time during day or night, people using and flushing the toilet, using the shower, and the telephone ringing in other rooms (adjacent and above) as loudly as if it was ringing in my room (and from the corridor, I could also hear people snoring in another room). I had to almost ”beg” to be given four extra hangers (and in fact I was told by a receptionist): ”why do you need more hangers? You are only one person!”) and to be given a wake up call (by another receptionist, who told me that they cannot do that because they are preparing/serving breakfast at 8.00 hrs). I was not given clear or adequate information (by another receptionist) on how I could travel from near the hotel to the airport by bus; she did not even know where the nearest bus stop was, from which I could catch the bus to the airport. There was reception of only three (all BBC) TV English channels. On arrival, there was noise from compressed air drilling on the street. On arrival (on a Friday, for a four nights long stay, during which my pillow case was changed only once, on the forth night of my stay, only on my request) I was not offered a quiet room (as I had requested when I booked the hotel) at the back of the hotel by a receptionist, but only 5 minutes later by another receptionist (who at first told me to ask the road workers myself, whether they would continue work on Monday!). This hotel should be rated as two star hotel, i.e. not as a three star, which is the official rating appearing on the web. Management and training of staff was evidently poor. Sporadically, one or two receptionists appeared to be making an effort to offer a service slightly above a perfunctory one. LOCATION: The hotel was secure, with adequate wi-fi, located 20-25 minutes from the airport by bus (and 5 minutes to walk to the nearest bus stop to catch the bus to the airport), 15-20 minutes walk or 5-10 minutes by tram (NB All public transport is free of charge in Luxembourg) from city center (i.e. old town).

Hotel Perrin - Former Carlton

Beautiful, historic and charming hotel in Luxembourg close to the train station (about a 15 minute walk from the old city center). The hotel is delightful, very clean, and tastefully decorated. The staff are lovely and helpful. The beds are comfortable, rooms are spacious, and I was elated we had a fan available to us (already placed within the room) as it was quite hot while we were visiting. We would definitely stay here again, this place is a gem.
Grand Hotel Cravat

I couldn't be happier to have chosen this hotel for the weekend in this wonderful city. Both the city and the hotel exceeded all expectations. I must say that all the hotel staff are extremely polite and attentive. The hotel has an old-fashioned style, but it is extremely clean and well-maintained. Our room was very spacious and cozy. The breakfast was fantastic, and the location of the hotel is perfect. A perfect 10 out of 10!

Odd, odd place. Can't tell the hotel from the road as its hidden behind a restaurant, which is where you have breakfast, which has no kerb appeal at all, infant could do with a jet wash. Once through the barrier down a cobbled lane you eventually find the reception. Check-in was smooth and reception clean. Room spacious, clean and comes with kettle, fridge, safe and complimentary water. Nicely decorated too. Bed was huge but sadly not a good night's sleep as the pillows are terrible, far too soft and flat, had to ask for extra and still had to fold in half to get any firmness. Staff polite but not over welcoming. Outside areas could do with a spring clean and tidy. Hotel perfectly located for the centre, 5 min walk.
Ibis Styles Luxembourg Centre Gare

City Hotel

Very good hotel, the location is very close to the train station and the service is very good. But it's too expensive! The local people are too rich. Fortunately, the city is not big and one night is enough to go shopping.

First, the not-so-good. There was one staff member at the front desk who was less-than-friendly. There is no shower curtain, which renders it impossible to keep the bathroom floor dry. The toilet bowl is very low. There are lots of wasps near the breakfast area. The pillow was super flat. What I loved: the location - super close to downtown Luxembourg City. The breakfast offered a good variety of fresh and local foods (I did not pay separately for breakfast). The rooms were spacious with lots of electric/USB sockets. There was an air conditioner in the room. The bathroom was spotless and well-lit. Beds were comfortable. I did not hear from anyone else within the hotel, although I stayed at the hotel in August during peak season. The rooms were very clean. Breakfast was at a place with spectacular view.
