The hotel is located 20 meters from where the ferry leaves you from Townsville, so it is not necessary to have the car on the island, although if you bring it to the door of the hotel there is free parking for up to 3 days. The hotel is composed of several blocks, some with simple rooms, others with more or less large apartments. It has a giant pool. The access to the room is by stairs, there is the option of using an elevator, but it can catch you away and not avoid all the stairs, as in our case. Reception staff and lovely bar / restaurant employees.

We visited for our wedding anniversary and had the most amazing time! Deb & Larry are great hosts with lots of local knowledge and recommendations. The location of the B&B is perfect. Extremely close to the bus stop and only a 10 min walk to the beach and restaurants. Selina’s is also close by if you want to pop in for a drink, play pool, yoga and bird feeding. The rooms at True North are clean, spacious and have everything you need. Most importantly the bed and pillows are VERY COMFORTABLE! Then of course are the breakfasts - divine! Lots of choice and very hearty to fill you up for the day. We loved relaxing with our coffee & brekki, watching the wallabies bounce past each morning. Deb and Larry go out of their way to make sure your stay is perfect. We will be returning!

What a great resort to stay, just been here for 2 weeks, and can’t speak highly enough of this place. Firstly the staff, attentive, friendly and nothing is too much trouble. The superior villa, was very clean, comfortable and a home away from home. Pool area is spacious with a generous amount of recliners, chairs, BBQ area and plenty of shade. Recreation room had books, games, beach towels, pool table, ping pong table just to name a few. Adjoining laundry was very clean, with plenty of irons, boards, Airer’s and basket’s available. Machines and Dryers take $1 coins. The grounds are well presented and is a tropical oasis. The tennis court, which we did not use, is behind pool area. Our interactions with the staff was above and beyond our expectations. When my husband unfortunately turned ill and we needed to extend a few days, this was made possible for us. Paula very kindly made chicken soup, Rachel went to the chemist and even dropped of some lemonade. We found Island Leisure Resort ticked all our boxes, affordable, clean, close to beach, wallabies, eating out, bus stops and a 15 minute walk to the ferry terminal and Iga. There is a feeling of cleanliness in the room. The staff had a very nice smile and was impressive. The location was excellent for sightseeing.
