Despite a delayed flight from Heathrow, we arrived on the last seaplane of the day and were instantly impressed with what we saw. After a quick tour of the island we settled into our beach suite (224) which faced sunset (worth the upgrade). After a very pleasant meal, exhausted and weary we slept like a log. This was my fifth island, my wife’s seventh and we soon felt very much at home after one day. We found the staff very friendly, approachable and motivated to make sure their guests enjoyed the wonderful surroundings, food and facilities. Being the Easter holidays, there were quite a few children, not always monitored by their parents so after two swims in the pool we decided to only swim in the sea by our accommodation which for two pensioners was fantastic. The sea was cooler than the warm waters of the pool. We also had the the advantage of a bar at the southern end, a two minute walk from the beach suite. The food was extensive, varied and delicious although we would have like the curries to be a bit spicier. We found them quite tame compared to other islands. A medium/hot curry would have been appreciated. The themed evenings were very enjoyable and we loved the Moroccan, Maldivian & Asian, but what about a Chinese theme? As for the staff, they were all we had hoped for, but were disappointed with our holiday liaison, Munni. We only saw him on our arrival, but he did sort out a couple of minor problems. The only time I asked him to ring me, which he said he would, he sent the tv repair man. He wasn’t available during our last two days. Our villa attendant Shiham was excellent and made sure that we were satisfied with not only his work, but when we had a couple of minor problems, including a roof leak, he had the maintenance crew there within ten minutes. A very helpful man. As for other staff, there are just too many to mention, but those who do deserve our mention then….Mae in the restaurant area who worked tirelessly for not only us, but everyone around. She was incredible and went out of her way to keep the same table for us when possible. Gold Star employee for Cocoon. The next mention is Charith who started most evenings in the main bar, then moved to the restaurant about 8pm. What a great young man. He remembered and knew what to get from the bar each day. We miss him. Finally Ani in the other bar always had a smile and as soon as we appeared around 15.30 each day, she knew without asking …..Tequila Sunrise. Thank you staff, amazing island. On our way home we agreed that this is the only island we would return to in the future. If we do get to return, I will be pestering the chef for spicier curries and a few French fries. Thank you Cocoon.
