Riad Andalla

AS USUAL, ANOTHER EXCELLENT STAY AT RIAD ANDALLA! Last year, I stayed at Riad Andalla for 10 days and enjoyed it so much that I vowed to stay longer this time. As expected, Pascal, Valerie, Laura, Jordi Blanchard and Karim were the perfect hosts. They welcomed me wholeheartedly and immedately I felt at home - again! My room was spacious, immaculately clean, quiet, comfortable and EVERYTHING WORKS - from the wifi to the wonderful hot showers that I take everyday to the utterly appetizing breakfasts that I take in the terrace overlooking Jmaa El Fna Square and the imposing Koutoubia Minaret. Valerie helped me out with my tours to Essaouira, massages, transfers and all the assistance that I needed. As I was there on a mission to bring aid to the Earthquake victims, the entire family were all out in helping me with all the logistics using their own conveniences and contacts. I will forever be grateful to them. Best of all, its location is what attracted me to it! Only 4 short corners and you are at Marrakech's famed Jmaa El Fna. There is no way you can lose your way! I would go out to eat, shop, wander around, etc. and it was so easy to go ”home” take a nap, use the restroom, etc. and go off again! If you are looking for a Moroccan Riad Experience, Riad Andalla is it! By the way, I stayed here for 11 nights this time and moved to another Blanchard run, newly renovated Riad Dar Yammi for another 11 nights. Of course, it had the EXCELLENT Blanchard Hospitality that is their TRADE MARK! Until next year!!!! Thank you once again!

A very clean and exquisite shop, the lobby staff are seen cleaning the floor every day. The breakfast is also very rich. Although I don't like taji pot, the chicken taji is still delicious and there are many varieties of fruits. The location is also good, right at the gate of the market, you can walk to various attractions. We even walked past the Ysl Garden. It’s about 25 minutes. It’s good to walk around. I don’t like the taxis here. I don’t like the price. I don’t bother to talk about the price. The attractions are very close and can be solved by walking.

The location is close to the center of the square and it is not very easy to find. Breakfast is a bit simple, but it is delicious.

The first time I experienced the riad, let me talk about the location of the hotel. It was a bit far from the entrance of the Sleepless Plaza. Although the hotel waiter came to pick us up, there were many people in the square in the afternoon. It was a bit tired to walk in with luggage. Besides the internal facilities, the public area is still a bit small, and the roundabout is not spacious, which is a bit different from the picture. The room is very small, and the next suitcase is barely put, and if there are two, it will affect walking. Breakfast is on the top floor, nothing works, basically coffee, milk, bread and the like.

I stayed here on a weeks solo trip to Marrakech and honestly it couldn’t have been a better choice of hotel. It’s located just off the main square so perfect location for all the sightseeing and day trips you can organise. The room was clean and comfortable with air con and complimentary water and biscuits on arrival, as well as toiletries. I stayed in the Piano room on the ground floor, it was plenty spacious for me, though the space at the sides of the bed may be difficult for those with limited mobility - however given the pool and restaurant are up 3 flights of stairs, the hotel may not be the best choice for those with mobility issues (there is no lift). The breakfast was different every day but always traditional Moroccan baked items such as sponges, pancakes, and breads, and always brilliant! They serve lunch and dinner too which were also really good, especially if you’re wanting to relax by the pool, as they will serve your food on the terrace for you. The terrace is stunning, but the tiles get HOT in the sun as does the sides of the pool, so make sure to wear flip flops or sliders, and maybe place a towel on the side of the pool to get in and out as you will burn yourself - not the hotels fault at all though! I made use of the spa and massage service which were fantastic and well priced, as was the tour guide (Tahir) that the hotel booked for me to show me round the Souks and Badi place. That was definitely worth doing as sellers in the Souks don’t try to rip you off when you have a tour guide! Finally, a massive thanks to the staff at the hotel Hicham, Youssef, Ismahane, and Abdel Jbar. They were incredibly helpful all week with anything I needed, full of recommendations for all aspects of my trip, organised guides, taxis, and trips, and were generally just incredibly welcoming and friendly. A credit to the hotel and I would have been lost without them!

Riad was great value - in a very convenient location, all of the staff were extremely helpful and so so kind and the decor itself is also beautiful! Our host Zakoinia, gave us useful advice to navigate around Marrakech including areas to avoid, when to tip, and also helped us arrange our requested services (private transfers and laundry) within minutes. The private transfers were organised with people collecting us directly from the Riad and walking us to the car. We also told Zakoinia and another staff to not worry about making our breakfast as we were leaving earlier than the time they serve breakfast (7am-10am) however they both insisted to cook us breakfast earlier so we wouldn’t miss out. We even got early check-in (at 9am) even though we didn’t ask for it! I would recommend this Riad to anyone looking to stay in Marrakech.
