Amazing hotel with cave like design, super clean room, the only drawback is we needed to carry the luggage up the hotel as it’s located slightly up the hill, the hotel staff was very helpful to have helped, it was worth the walk.

We only stayed one night at Cenobio but we really enjoyed it. Specially staff like Mario, went over and beyond to help us in anything we needed. They helped us with luggage since the hotel is not close to main streets and we had my to worry about the car. The view from our window was breathtaking. We will totally return to this beautiful hotel.

It was a clean, cozy, and warm room with enough space for a family. Staffs were friendly. Easy to take a look around Matera while walking. Good experience to stay in a cave hotel.

I did not like that when I first requested parking it was not communicated that the acces to the hotel by car was not permitted. I made the reservation and counted on the information provided on your site, which did not warn of any issues regarding parking. The hotel advertised that parking was available and it was it. Between my reservation and checking, the hotel sent me information by mail warning me about the need to park outside the ZTL area and gave me instructions about parking. Unfortunately, by the time I read the hotel message I had already attempted to go straight to the hotel, which I later found that it wasn’t possible and had actually committed a traffic offense for entering the ZTL zone by car (I went in and out right away after being warned by a resident that I had committed a traffic violation). The traffic violation has not arrived but after searching for information about this, I learned the fine would be considerable - between 90 and 180 euros! I believe the whole thing was a bad experience that could have been avoided if given the right information when making rhe reservation online. Not fair, and not a good busines practice.

Staff is friendly and helpful, service is excellent. Breakfast is very good. Room is comfy and elegant. Location is good, minutes away from lots of sceneries. Highly recommended.

We corresponded by email with Bette about our reservation and stay at Cenbbio Hotel. She responded promptly and in English. Our shuttle car arrived within a few minutes of our phoning from the parking garage Francesco, the driver was very efficient and helpful. We did have to walk down a good number of flights of steps with our luggage. Francesco helped with our bags and went at our pace which made it easier. The hike was well worth it because the hotel and the view are SPECTACULAR. Ivana at reception gave us a very warm welcome. The rooms were unique- beautiful 'caves' with modern amenities and elegant furnishings. The complimentary breakfast was great- pastries, fruits, cured meats, wonderful cheeses and eggs cooked to order. All of the staff greeted us warmly. Mario, the manager was particularly good conversation. He spoke with us in English and Italian. We would love to return to Matera and Cenobbio Hotel!

Cenobio Hotel Matera was perfect. If you have a car, pay for the parking and pick up/drop off. Well worth it. Mario was amazing and just a very pleasant guy to welcome you to the hotel. He made a reservation for us at Annina 1937 which was delicious. The rooms were a good size and very clean. Great showers. Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay.

A beautiful hotel set in an old basilica/monastery and in a wonderful central location. We enjoyed the modern fit out, the private courtyard and the amazing views. The service was great and very very helpful. best to contact the hotel before arriving if you’re driving, with the carpark a little distance away however they provide a transfer service to make this a simple experience.

Very nice hotel. Clean. Great Breakfast. The only thing negative was, that staff was seating in the lobby on the chairs. It was unclear are they staff or guests. Also after we entered they didn’t really get up. They were friendly and helpful, however it just leaves a bit of an unprofessional touch to it. They were also sitting there during breakfast.

We had a loverly stay. A very nice Hotel. Mario was a great host and everybody was very welcoming and friendly. A nice quite hotel with a great view. We will be coming back.

Great location in the Sassi, not far from Duomo. We stayed in a fabulous, huge and beautifully furnished room set into the old caves. It even included a hot tub!! The pick up service from the town centre car park is very useful and efficient. However, for the price of the suite, we would have really appreciated tea/coffee facilites and a couple of wine glasses in the room.

Great hotel in good location. The process from parking the car to check in via the Piazza Duomo was excellent. The breakfast was lovely and the room fab with a great view. Mario was the star for us. He is a man who seems truly happy in his work. His recommendations and advice were excellent. Recommend this hotel whole heartedly.
