"My daughter and I spent an absolutely wonderful two nights at the Sassi Hotel last week. We loved our room 503 with amazing views over the Sassi from the bedroom and bathroom windows! The beds were very comfy too and the air conditioning was good. It is a really lovely, quaint hotel built into the rock and is a brilliant location for visiting everywhere in Matera. Loved the bruschetta at breakfast. All the staff were very friendly too. We didn’t want to leave!!"

We appreciated the interesting configuration of the hotel, which is really an interconnected complex of ancient buildings. There are outdoor seating areas scattered throughout for different vantage points on the spectacular views of Matera. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly and responded instantly to WhatsApp messages. We were without dinner reservations for one night, and the restaurant they recommended was a highlight of our trip."

The hotel yard is beautiful, and there is a landscape swimming pool where you can watch the sunset. The room has a small kitchen where you can cook instant noodles. The breakfast is not very good, but it is very exquisite. There are few guests here and it is very quiet."

The staff were very friendly and even helped me find my watch when I left it behind! The spa was very clean and it was a great experience. We had it to ourselves - sauna, steam room, hot tub, cold water therapy and shower - all in a cave like room. There was also an outdoor area to relax and an area inside to enjoy a glass of sparkling with snacks."
