Il Belvedere
"Lovely hotel with the best view, great staff, great breakfast. Highly recommend."
Locanda di San Martino Hotel & Thermae Romanae
"Honestly, I wouldn't highly recommend it, especially for those with large luggage. Taxis can't drive to the hotel entrance; you have to walk at least five or six minutes along a winding, gravel path. Even inside the hotel, almost every room requires climbing up and down steep, inconvenient steps. The so-called separate building is on the other side of the hotel (it seems like the original hotel area was fully developed, and they added it on top of surrounding residential buildings). It's not particularly safe, especially at night when you're practically helpless. The hotel has a shuttle bus from the lobby (main area) to the separate building, but you still have to climb about twenty gravel steps and carry your luggage yourself. The hotel claims the separate building is about a four-minute walk from the main building (there's a small path), but going down from the top requires climbing 100 steps, and going back is the same. The steps are narrow and steep. The stone buildings are quite dark, so we had to leave the doors open, and the blankets were a little damp, probably due to the high humidity (they had a dehumidifier on). Everything else was average. The hotel service was helpful but far from enthusiastic. The sauna was similar to a large public bathhouse in China; you need to bring your swimsuit. It was alright. I don't usually review hotels, but this time I'm saying I "would not recommend it.""
UNA HOTELS MH Matera
"A hotel with a very nice lobby and common areas; the rooms are comfortable and clean, with some details being noteworthy (such as the fact that the air conditioning doesn't work and is a bit noisy). The reception was very friendly and attentive to our questions. Due to the weather, we were unable to use the pool as the hours of use are limited (10 a.m. to 7 p.m.), and the water was warm. Matera is a 15-minute drive away, and the hotel has a parking area."
UNA HOTELS La Martella
Pianelle Resort
"Excellent resort! A wonderful base to explore the beautiful Matera!"
Palazzo Gattini - the Leading Hotels of the World
"This is probably the best hotel in Matera. Located right next to the cathedral, the square in front of the hotel offers panoramic views of Matera's Old Town. The hotel is a converted protected building, with elegant design, spacious rooms, and beautiful scenery. The hotel's restaurant, Le Bubbole, is also excellent and deserves a five-star recommendation."
Albergo Del Sedile
"The location is great and the facilities are clean and great. The only downside was that the heater was broken, making it difficult to sleep."
HOTEL MOSAICO
"Hotel located outside the historic center of Matera completely new and is about 10 minutes from the center by car. Very kind staff: upon arrival at 6 in the morning Mr. Daniele welcomed us with great kindness already providing us with our room. Abundant and rich breakfast. Very clean rooms, elegant and equipped with every comfort. New swimming pool cared for in every detail. Recommended!"
Aquatio Cave Luxury Hotel & Spa
"Even though we encountered issues with AC, hotel staff was very accommodating to provide us with suitable accommodations. Great customer service"

Palazzo Del Duca Hotel & Restaurant
"Charming hotel"
Thymus Residence nei Sassi
"An unforgettable cave stay experience! The host and staff were incredibly welcoming! The breakfast was delicious!"
Hotel Del Campo
"Located outside the historic area. Room was spacious with room to layout 2 suitcases. There is a safe. Nice sized desk that has a light. Bathroom has a lighted shaving mirror but the light didn’t work and the mirror was so loose it wouldn’t stay in the position I needed. The supplied blow dryer is feeble and you have to hold the on button all the time. Combo shower/tub was slippery and the shower head was difficult to use without spraying the toilet next to the tub and the floor. The nightstands on each side of the bed had a built in USB port but they only work when the bedside lights are on; no overnight charging while you sleep unless you loosen the bulb. The room had a refrigerator/mini bar. Breakfast was very good- a very large selection of meats cheeses breads cakes cereal etc. multiple coffee options. Overall a good option for this area"
Residence Masseria Santa Lucia
"The hotel is located in the suburbs of Matera, with parking and swimming pool, cave-like design, affordable price, rich breakfast"
Stone Living - Nel Cuore dei Sassi di Matera
"I don't even know how to describe this guesthouse."
Antico Convicino Rooms Suites & SPA
"Staff is helpful. Room scent & decoration is on point. Excellent hotel to stay"
Il Carrubo Residenza Walk&Stay
"The B&B the carrub is in an extraordinary position from an environmental point of view from the Gravina and in front of the beauty. It is open to the east, so it is also well positioned to see the dawn. It is located on the street of San Potito under the Matera Duomo reachable in a few minutes. The manager is Mr. Gianni with a great hospitality, a pleasant breakfast for the menu and for the possibility of breakfast outside, as happened to us in a beautiful sunday. The price quality ratio is in line and therefore suitable for the characteristics of the B&B. Recommended."
Vetera Matera
"We came to Matera with friends for a few nights before heading to Puglia for a bike trip. Matera is a UNESCO world heritage site, known for its sassi (limestone rock houses and neighborhoods). Beautiful and interesting, it is NOT a place easily navigated if one has physical disabilities. Matera Vetera is an exquisitely restored historic property, Relais & Chateau brand and is built of limestone rock and encompasses a prehistoric cave. The attention to detail is impressive. The rooms vary from a cave suite (where we stayed for one night), to those on upper levels with private patios and gorgeous views of the sassi and the many rock churches. It is a unique place among many B&B’s and small hotels. There is also a lovely spa offering massage and other treatments located in the lower cave area. Although there are many stone stairs joining various levels of the hotel, it is also served by elevators. Service was very good, and I would particularly like to commend Michaela at the front desk who is lovely, and very helpful. The breakfast buffet is comprised of fresh fruits, fresh juices, local yogurts and cheeses, breads, vegetables and antipasti, with seating on a lovely shaded patio and inside. There is also a menu for eggs, omelets, etc. If one is headed to Matera, this is a wonderful hotel, well-located and lovingly restored to perfection."
Hotel Sassi
"My daughter and I spent an absolutely wonderful two nights at the Sassi Hotel last week. We loved our room 503 with amazing views over the Sassi from the bedroom and bathroom windows! The beds were very comfy too and the air conditioning was good. It is a really lovely, quaint hotel built into the rock and is a brilliant location for visiting everywhere in Matera. Loved the bruschetta at breakfast. All the staff were very friendly too. We didn’t want to leave!!"
Residence San Pietro Barisano
"Very enjoyable stay. Lovely staff. Nice coffee and breakfast though quite simple. Would have liked some fresh orange juice in the morning rather than the cheap from concentrate stuff. Very happy on the whole though. On the whole good value for money for the sleeping in a cave house type place in Matera. Extra marks for the hotels dog Peggy who is adorable :D"
Best Western Plus Dimora del Monaco
"The overall stay experience was very good. Parking is available and is free. The room is spacious, the mattress is soft, and the hygiene is very clean. The breakfast variety is OK. The front desk was efficient. It is not too far from the main scenic spots, just a ten-minute drive."
Casa Diva
"This is the most special room I have ever stayed in. The view is so beautiful."
