"There are lots of features that make this hotel a great choice in Matera. First, we really enjoyed our room which had a superb view and was suitably atmospheric. We appreciated the interesting configuration of the hotel, which is really an interconnected complex of ancient buildings. There are outdoor seating areas scattered throughout for different vantage points on the spectacular views of Matera. The front desk staff was very helpful and friendly and responded instantly to WhatsApp messages. We were without dinner reservations for one night, and the restaurant they recommended was a highlight of our trip."

"This was our second time staying at this hotel. We specifically came to Mateta for one night from the Salerno area to enjoy the spa and dinner. As always it did not disappoint! The junior suite room was spectacular. The spa was amazing. The a massages were amazing. The restaurant they recommended for dinner was delicious. The staff is great. "The hotel is quite secluded, requiring a long walk with luggage. The rooftop restaurant boasts a superb view of the grottoes at sunset. Breakfast was very basic, but the waiter provided excellent service."

"Dirty rooftop terrace (bird droppings) and non-functional jacuzzi (turned into a bird bath). Room key incident: The key broke in the lock without us forcing it. The hotelier called a locksmith for a cost of 25 euros. He asked us to pay this amount, which we refused as it was a problem with the key and not damage caused by us. Unauthorized charge to our credit card: The day after our departure, 152 euros were charged to our credit card without our consent (using the imprint taken during the reservation). The hotelier did not inform us of this charge. Lack of communication and professionalism: When we contacted him to express our dissatisfaction, he stated that he was entitled to charge this amount "in accordance with Italian law." He then stopped responding to our messages when we asked him for documentation for our insurance. Comment: This event ruined our stay in Matera. We absolutely do not recommend this hotel. The lack of cleanliness, technical problems, deplorable customer service and the questionable practices of the hotelier are unacceptable."

"Lovely hotel just a 10 minute drive from Matera. The rooms are all unique and creatively designed. They have stayed true to the historic nature of the building while adding some modern touches. The breakfast is a bit sparse, but we did find out after that you can order eggs and omelettes. Great place to stay close to Matera with a pool!"

"The actual hotel/room didn't quite live up to the photos or descriptions; it definitely wasn't the cave-style depicted but rather quite modern. Located on a hill, the hotel is impossible to find using GPS. We had to call the front desk, and it took a long time for them to understand and send someone to collect us. Be prepared for many stairs. If you plan to stay here, I'd strongly advise against bringing much luggage. The air conditioning unit in the room was incredibly loud; at night, it sounded eerily like ongoing construction work. The view from the window was also quite plain, which might have been due to the room's orientation."

"The B&B the carrub is in an extraordinary position from an environmental point of view from the Gravina and in front of the beauty. It is open to the east, so it is also well positioned to see the dawn. It is located on the street of San Potito under the Matera Duomo reachable in a few minutes. The manager is Mr. Gianni with a great hospitality, a pleasant breakfast for the menu and for the possibility of breakfast outside, as happened to us in a beautiful sunday. The price quality ratio is in line and therefore suitable for the characteristics of the B&B. Recommended."

For breakfast lovers this is the place. High quality products , great coffees and an amazing variety of things as well as amazing croissants warm and baked daily .
