"When you go to Matera, if you're planning to stay in one of the old town's neighborhoods, the Sassi, the Vetera Matera is in the Sasso Barisano, I believe. Basically, to put it simply, you can choose between a hotel on the canyon side or the other side with the Vetera Matera. Having explored the site, waking up to the sights of the entire village was a real treat. I don't think I would have experienced that from the canyon side. As you can see, this hotel is very well located and extremely well-appointed, with air conditioning throughout. The materials used are beautiful, and the construction is impeccable, done by artisans I wish I had in Paris if needed :-). For parking, don't hesitate to leave your car at the partner garage for €50 per day, but everything is perfect, including round-trip transfers. You can ask a member of the garage staff to contact the hotel if you don't have internet access or a data plan if there are no taxis available. The staff were all very friendly, and some spoke French. The superior room was superb and quiet, with a very comfortable king-size bed and a large flat-screen TV with French channels. It had a balcony with a 180° view of the city—a real treat every morning. The bathroom was equally lovely and comfortable, with a walk-in shower. Complimentary bottled water was provided daily, but other amenities were extra. It's worth noting that while some hotels in Puglia offer a minibar, the Vetera Matera does not. The air conditioning worked well, but it's impossible to adjust it yourself; you have to call a technician, which is inconvenient—the only drawback. Breakfast wasn't extensive, but those who travel a bit know that hotels today have significantly reduced their breakfast offerings, and it's no longer the impressive experience it was 15 or 20 years ago. So, it's good, but nothing particularly remarkable. There's a standard breakfast menu with hot drinks, fruit juice, sweets, eggs, etc., and some dishes are available upon request for an extra charge. There are no surprises, unlike what I've read in some reviews. You can stay in the restaurant or have breakfast in the lovely patio. The spa offers 90 minutes per stay and is excellent, with a magnificent jacuzzi in a grotto, a cold plunge pool for legs, an experience shower, a solarium, a sauna, and more. The terrace bar is a must-visit in the evening to see the city at night. The bartenders are fantastic and friendly, and the cocktail selection is simple yet original. In short: no hesitation, everything is very good and beautiful. Thank you for the warm welcome and this wonderful stay."

"We had an amazing stay at Lo Stemma Hotel. The staff was wonderful and Camilla was incredibly helpful and responsive when we emailed them. She made sure we had everything we needed and gave great recommendations for exploring the city and where to eat. The hotel is modern, clean, and comfortable, with stylish rooms. The location is perfect and a short walk to the Sassi and many great restaurants and shops. Breakfast was very good, offering a nice variety of items to start the day. Overall, Lo Stemma Hotel provided the perfect base for discovering Matera. We highly recommend."

Our Queen room also had a whirlpool tub, as well as all the comforts, including a large shower, minibar, and ensuite bathroom. Everything was perfect, including the kindness of the staff."

"The actual hotel/room didn't quite live up to the photos or descriptions; it definitely wasn't the cave-style depicted but rather quite modern. Located on a hill, the hotel is impossible to find using GPS. We had to call the front desk, and it took a long time for them to understand and send someone to collect us. Be prepared for many stairs. If you plan to stay here, I'd strongly advise against bringing much luggage. The air conditioning unit in the room was incredibly loud; at night, it sounded eerily like ongoing construction work. The view from the window was also quite plain, which might have been due to the room's orientation."

"The B&B the carrub is in an extraordinary position from an environmental point of view from the Gravina and in front of the beauty. It is open to the east, so it is also well positioned to see the dawn. It is located on the street of San Potito under the Matera Duomo reachable in a few minutes. The manager is Mr. Gianni with a great hospitality, a pleasant breakfast for the menu and for the possibility of breakfast outside, as happened to us in a beautiful sunday. The price quality ratio is in line and therefore suitable for the characteristics of the B&B. Recommended."

An old man nearby tried to help, but I couldn't get in touch with him, and he didn't reply to my message from Google. I waited for two hours, but I couldn't get in touch with him, so I canceled the reservation and arranged for another accommodation to be available on the spot. When I canceled the reservation through the app, I was contacted again, asking why I had canceled. I guess they wouldn't accept my cancellation, and I didn't get a refund. Please be careful."
