We booked for Sunday lunch based on what we now know is a false statement that they have a two rosette accreditation for food. Please note that the AA stopped inspecting ROI establishments in 2022 and that if they were still doing it and if the food we were served is representative of their usual standard of catering, this restaurant would most certainly would not have still been included. We were also unimpressed with the standard of cleanliness and the gardens were a mess - not a good experience at all.

Visited Bellinter House recently with my husband. Although we knew that we would not be staying in the main house the acccomodation we were given outside in a converted shed felt cold and damp. It was far enough away from the main house to feel completely disconnected from a luxury hotel experience. When I made the booking I was not told we would be outside the hotel. It was only a week or so after making the booking I phoned to confirm we were in the main house the staff told me we were staying outside! This is an important point to remember when booking the hotel because the staff only tell you when you ask specifically about this. When we checked in we were asked to pay €750.00 up front for the two nights bed and breakfast and two dinners. I thought this was odd as I have always paid the hotel bill on check out. This may have been because the hotel know there is a problem staying in the converted outside shed! The key they gave us would not open our door when we arrived so I had to drive back to the main house to get someone to come and have a look. They could get a key to open the door so they gave us the second room which was not heated in advance. The room number was not changed for when we went for breakfast each day causing confusion with the restaurannt staff straight away. The bathroom was big but the shower needed to be resealed as the sealant was dirty with mould and the shower mat was grubby and old. You can get one in Pennys for €3.00! In all we would not visit Bellinter House again.

Decided to stay here for one night on our way up north. Delighted we did. Such a lovely old style charming house. Loved the decor, the old ceilings, the imperfections that made the place perfect !! All staff were lovely and friendly. We didn't have dinner but breakfast was lovely, plenty of choice, and the restaurant setting was beautiful, maybe years ago it was a cellar, but it had fabulous ambience and shapes to the ceiling and as for the spiral staircase leading down to the restaurant, certainly different. It's a place that you just want to look everywhere just to see what you find. The bar area was nice and relaxing, bar staff so friendly. There was also a hot tub and a steam room/sauna area. We didn't use either but many people did. Nice long drive up. The only thing that I think it lacked was a bit of a formal garden area to walk around.

We were very disappointed with this place. It claims to be a 4 star hotel but there’s no way on earth that’s true. As soon as we arrived we noticed the carpets in the communal areas were grubby and that didn’t change until they were finally vacuumed on our last day (we had booked for 4 nights). We paid for a superior room as it was a special occasion and at first glance it looked lovely - huge, stunning headboards and furniture - but the place has not been maintained. There have clearly been multiple leaks and the ceiling is badly flaking, the paint is badly chipped on the walls and original shutters (which have been badly painted - to maintain such a beautiful building you need to sand such features not just slap another layer of paint on top) and there are cobwebs in all the corners of the room. The lighting isn’t good enough to read, there is no plug for a hairdryer which reaches a mirror, electrical cables are hanging out the wardrobe. The whole place just felt a bit haphazard. We guess they’re going for shabby chic but unfortunately it’s more shabby than chic. The restaurant and reception staff (and the restaurant food) were lovely. The breakfast staff seemed extremely stressed and unhappy. The spa is dirty and not a pleasant experience. We won’t be back.

Booked spa treatments weeks ago, had 3 separate calls in past week changing things. Receptionist couldn't find emails what we were having done and never left her seat to show us anything. We were all booked in for 2.10, one of our party got her facial at 4pm, was never told this checking in. Relaxation room is anything but relaxing, very grubby and cobwebs on window sills, hasn't been cleaned in a long time! Beds uncomfortable and only refreshments in the room is water. Sauna and steamroom floors were deadly slippy and no warnings. Car parked outside window in sauna, just to enhance the experience. 2 stars are for the male therapist, he was amazing.

This is a lovely hotel that has a lot to recommend it although some aspects are not up to standard expected.

The location and buildings are lovely but the room I had was grubby and and poorly maintained. Breakfast was nice but the service was slow. My colleagues told me their rooms were nice so maybe I was just unlucky

Words cannot describe the grandeur of the space, the quality of the food, and the kindness of the staff. If you can swing a main house suite, definitely do so, but you can’t go wrong with anywhere you stay. And do not skip over the afternoon tea! 10 out of 10 will return.
