Hotel Dorado la 70

Laureles - Estadio Medellin|2.18km from METRO BOOSTER
Three men walked into my room during my stay unannounced while two of my roommates were undressed and hotel management won’t do anything about it!! I rented 9 hotel rooms and a conference room at Hotel Dorado for 30 leaders of my nonprofit org for 4 days. On day 2 of our stay a mysterious man bolted into our room unannounced and saw my roommate completely undressed. Why would someone outside of our party could have access to our room!? We went to hotel managers Joanna and Marco and they won’t do a single thing about it. They tell us it is not a big deal just “a matter of perspective”. Shortly after reporting this, Marco charged into our room with another man behind him completely unannounced, didn’t knock, just opened the door while yet ANOTHER girl was undressing and would not leave the room claiming he is trying to “fix the problem”. Marco and Joanna need to be fired! At this point all the girls in my organization were scared, some were crying, we all felt completely UNSAFE. The management was harassing us. They have camera’s on every floor and when we asked they claim there is no footage of these events (how convenient!!!) so now we are filing suit against them so they can release the footage to us. On top of all of this mental &emotional trauma my girls went through,I spent over $3,000 for hotel rooms, conference room, and hotel catering and the hotel won’t refund us for the services and rooms we didn’t use after the incidents. This would be THE VERY LEAST they can do.

I stayed 7 nights. Starting positive. Rooms are very spacious, nicely equipped and clean. Most of the receptionists are welcoming, attentive and helpful. They fulfilled all my requests, including waving a (50% daily!) rate for a 4 hours late checkout. The chef is very talented: I can vouch for his pizza and dessert. Now, for the problematic aspects: location, noise, breakfast, and inconvenience. Location - I picked this hotel for personal reasons, aware of this disadvantage. The hotel is located a 15 minutes walk from, in one direction - the nearest metro station, and in the opposite direction - carrera 70 (center of life in Laureles). Noise - there is a wide atrium from bottom to top of the building; its fourth side isn't a wall, but a net/screen;all the staircase side facing the street is just open shutters. Result: all street and sky noises are LOUDLY heard all the time, including at the back side (where I requested a quiet room). The windows aren't noise-isolated. neither are the doors. Breakfast - A) service is unbelievingly slow. I once waited 40 minutes for my eggs and hot drinks. Reason: there are only two (nice but forgetful) waitresses. B) guests need to ask again and again for re-supplies at the buffet..... C) .....which is VERY basic and unvarying. There is a for-pay menu of additionals. Uncomfortable bed environment - A) Night tables are 50 cms from the bed, and unmovable. B) No USB sockets. There's an elec socket on only one side of the bed, 1.5 mtrs away. Result: no cellular recharge possible while lying in bed. C) No master switch for room lights near the bed. PS - in order to open the windows, one has to climb on a chair. Taken with the open-noisy structure of the building, it really seems as if human comfort was deliberately ignored in internal design.

My friends and I stayed in 2 separate rooms in November. I had room 301 and the queen sized beds were super comfortable with nice, clean white duvets. The room was a good size with a large desk, big tv, end tables and a mini bar. The modern bathroom had a large walk in shower with a great rain shower head. The problem was the walls are so paper thin that I could hear people in other rooms talking, showering and flushing their toilets late at night and early in the morning. Even my ear plugs did not block out all of the noise. A buffet style breakfast was included in my room rate and was served on the 6th floor with a spectacular panoramic view of the city. Breakfast (other than the weak coffee) was good and included waffles, eggs, breads, meat, yogurt , cereal, pastries and everything one could want for breakfast. We had dinner here one night and the menu was limited, with typically overpriced hotel meals. We did however enjoy the food. The daily pitchers of fresh strawberry/lime/mandarin water in the lobby was a nice touch. The staff members are friendly and soundproofing the walls would make this good hotel even better.

All right only have cucumbers that pass through the whole room. The boy of the very friendly breakfast, very serviceful housekeeping and attentive, you have all the shops near. If I stay again. I hope they resolve and smoke well.

Stayed 4 nights. I dont recommend this 3 (NOT 4) stars hotel. Pros: Apparently one of the only two acceptable hotels in the Centro; VERY inexpensive; immaculately clean; attentive reception. Cons: 1. I reserved an airport pickup, which didnt show up. The hotel believed the driver that he was there. There was no chance that we missed each other. 2. Reception and corridors are dark. 3. Even the more quiet rooms get morning traffic noise. 4. Very limited places to put stuff out of the suitcases. 5. The sink, which is in the room itself, is constructed to splatter the floor. 6. Housekeeping forgot an item every day. 7. VERY basic unvarying breakfast. 8. Most of the receptionists weren't smiling or friendly, which in Colombia is surprising.
