Birdsong Cottages

Initial service was good, but it has been a struggle to get the breakage deposit back. Security seems to be an issue (the establishment was burgled recently, and the owner's electronic devices were stolen from next to her bed. The photos on the website does not match reality ... the other units have been upgraded, but not the Kingfisher unit, which is old and needs attention.

The owner of the place Johann Scholtz is such a great person. We felt like we own the whole place. The view at night and in the morning is so amazing. Indeed we really enjoyed our selfs at Birdsong Cottages.

Staying at the Loerie house at Birdsong Cottages on New Years Eve was lovely, secluded in the bush and the house was clean and modern. We will definitely be going back this year! Johann the owner was also so helpful and friendly!

The place was not as clean as we would have loved for the duration of outlr stay, spider webs everywhere of which I think they were supposed to be removed before we got there, every room ceiling even inside the bed... Our linen on the other hand was dirty had stains on it, trash was never collected yet we are supposed to pay for that when they were not doing their job. The place has a lot of potential it very quiet which I loved most about it but overall we never received what was promised to us.

Everything from booking to arrival was great. When we arrived the rooms had stench smells, linen was stained , pool had toads, the jacuzzi was dirty and never cleaned (though we were promised it would be on 2 occasions). Daily upkeep of the trash and supplies was not done , we were told only at arrival that we would have to pay to get our rooms cleaned, bedding was not changed for the 5 days we stayed there. The bathrooms and showers we clogged and leaking. the only reason I gave a 2 star is because we planned for a bush getaway and that's what we got. We made the trip lovely and memorable for ourselves despite all these disappointments. Lack of communication and hospitality from the management. Overall I appreciate that the owner's son was kind enough to assist us with restocking our supplies when we were about to run out. I wouldn't recommend this place in the near future, maybe after 2 years when they have actually done some work to the place, but it has the same issues their previous guests complained about though they claim to be under new management that is revamping - no sign of revamping was there. It's a shame because this is a beautiful establishment with great potential!!!

Thank you, Conrad and Danny for going out of your way to make our family vacation so comfortable and one we will remember. We loved Loerie cottage. Really spacious and ideal for eight people. Jessica you are a star!! The setting is lovely, we could just relax, enjoy and unwind. Good luck with all the plans for the future. Can wait to see them finalised.
