Headed here after the Watermill in Dorking, again, had no decent beer mid-week. Should have gone to The Rinning Horses in the first place. A great welcome - even though by now a bit late in the evening - and a super meal. As one of our first choices from the main menu had sold out, they even tweaked a single course from their three-course Menu du Jour, to get us fed. All with charm, style and good value to boot. Thank you The Running Horses!

Amazing food, and amazing staff! We were so well looked after. Highly recommend the steak tartare and the T-bone! But ALL the food was incredible. Finally a pub that has a delicious menu and know how to ‘pub’ properly. Not a frozen restaurant-heat to be seen. They’ve taken the time to source their ingredients and you can absolutely taste the difference!

We have to say thank you to Giovanni and all the staff for an excellent lunch made possible by professional hospitality, good cooking and the general warm ambience. Only comment is starter portions could have been bigger. Fish and chips could not have been any bigger! A very enjoyable meal, we will visit again and toast everyone's health in Chinotto. Saluti.

Beautiful location, lovely pub BUT Don’t bother eating in the restaurant. Overpriced, small portions, badly cooked. We were a party of 14 and mostly all of us were disappointed! The veggie option was less than a child’s portion. The duck was inedible and so expensive, couldn’t cut it with a knife, didn’t come with fries or vegetables (came with a couple of hard squares of beetroot that wouldn’t cut either)! All 3 of us who ordered it, had to send ours back and we were told that nobody else had complained (of course, people are too polite especially the odd single order), and we were sat separately, so no collusion. Plus, they couldn’t accommodate 14 of us together despite booking in advance and knowing it was a birthday celebration. An overpriced, disappointing meal where it appears that they don’t care because of their location. It was packed. Really sad.

Really lovely old pub but the food was expensive and dreadful. Three of us ordered the duck. At £27 this main course consisted of two *****s of duck breast and a few pieces of beetroot which were tough. Worse than that you needed a steak knife to cut the duck. We definitely are not complainers but it had to go back. One of our friends is a vegan and when I saw the vegan option on the menu I thought ,that doesn't consist of much. When it arrived it wasn't even a child's portion. Rubbish food at exorbitant prices. Nice pub for a beer except it's a restaurant now.

We shared a fish sandwich with chips for lunch. It was delicious. I tried sticky toffee pudding for the first time ever; I would order it again. Nice to find a pub in the area with great food and friendly staff. Love that dogs are allowed in pubs here. Beer was also great but I have yet to find pub where I didn’t like the beer.

Overall we had a good meal. All the food was tasty and well cooked. Our criticisms are that there was only one vegetarian main dish. Out of the whole menu it was such a small proportion for vegetarians which is disappointing nowadays. The food also took a while to come - an hour from arrival. The staff were super friendly and helpful, and told us details about the menu when we asked.

We went there for a meal. The restaurant was fairly empty but the food took a very long time to arrive. I had a beetroot salad starter which only had 3 of the 5 componentson the plate. The main courses looked like they'd just been slapped on the plate. The batter on the haddock and chips was almost burnt. Both the chicken in our caesar salads were overdone as was the pork dish. Front of house were friendly and helpful. Clearly the kitchen is not working well. We hadn't eaten there for a long time, and the last time we had exactly the same issues. The pub has a nice atmosphere. Don't bother with the restaurant.

Excellent however as productive feedback; The welcome note in the room advises that you need to request milk for the room and to request a breakfast booking with the staff however. Most guests may read this whilst ready for bed by which time it’s too late to speak to staff or they may have to redress to go and ask. I would highly recommend that these questions are asked whilst being welcomed / checked in.
