We booked the hotel because we had cards next to an event. 150 m only!! The hotel is good. We booked a room with double bed and got one with two single beds. We then announced at the reception and got a new room. Thanks, Our room was simple but clean. It is a 3-star hotel that you must not forget. We booked with breakfast and that was really good. Service was very nice. The old town and the Rhine are ca.10-15 min away. The hotel is unfortunate, of course, for that cannot be done anything that the whole place consists of building sites.

Three night stay at this hotel for business meetings in the area. Very clean and neat lobby and room. Hotel staff was very friendly and helpful and spoke english perfectly. I was not a fan of the marshmallow pillows. Room is pure basic and was adequate. Good hot water supply. I did not try the breakfast so can't comment on that. Biggest drawback was the lack of proximity to any incidental ammenaties or food establishments. There are no convenience stores near by (2-3 kilometers walking distance to the nearest one) and none in the hotel (small refrigerator in the hotel lobby where you can buy limited soft drinks and snacks at the front desk). The hotel would do well to establish a gift shop/convenience store to service thier patrons due to the lack of availability of such in the area. It would have been nice to acquire a cup of coffee any time of day but especially in the morning when a full cost breakfast was the only way to acquire this. Overall though, a pleasant stay with pleasant staff.

The food in the restaurant is top quality and consistently good. The goose went down very well this time with our group. We celebrated at 70th birthday on Saturday night and it was very special. We have been coming to Hotel Am Wald for the past few years as a family to visit relatives in Monheim. Sadly, as they have now passed away we won’t have much reason to visit this lovely hotel anymore.
