We can't recommend this wonderful château highly enough. From the moment we arrived, we felt so much at home. There was a wonderful and warm welcome from the splendid châtelaine, and then we fell into the hands of her excellent daughter, Emilia, who keeps this wonderful family home up to a top-notch standard. We stayed in the beautiful and large Le Maître de Brocéliande room, which is gloriously decorated (just loved the wall-paper), and with a really comfortable bed and luxurious bathroom. Everything is done to the highest of standards, including a breakfast boasting all the most delicious patisserie as well as a regional speciality, le far breton. However, the most lovely thing of all is how civilised the whole place is. It cannot be easy opening your house to strangers, but I really sense that Emilia and her family really know how to make this work. We were also extremely grateful for being directed to an excellent local restaurant (not easy on a Monday night in provincial France). Our only sadness is that we were only able to stay one night, but that is a problem that is easily rectifiable, as we will certainly be back! The area boasts lots of interesting features and remains relatively undiscovered, so there is a major pretext for a return visit, although to be fair, we'd want to be back just to stay at this château (the other rooms look magnificent too). We wholeheartedly want to spread the word about this divine place, so that others can appreciate the kind of 'accueil' that Emilia offers.

My boyfriend and I had a fantastic stay at the Château de la Villedubois - we didn’t want to leave! Emilia and Allard are lovely hosts and very welcoming. Our room was cozy and spacious and the breakfast was excellent. The entire château is beautifully renovated with a magnificent attention to detail and it’s surrounded by an idyllic garden. Château de la Villedubois is a very special place and a must for your next trip to Brittany.

This estate, an almost 400 year old labor of love filled with tales of survival through major world events, is tucked away in an area of Brittany has been largely overlooked by all but the most discerning tourists. The owners of the chateau, the De Farcy family, are well-known in the nearby city of Rennes. Quimper porcelain factories has named a pattern of ceramics for the forest that the De Farcy family once owned. ( King Arthur is rumored to have been in that forest.) No wonder Victoria magazine featured this chateau on its cover this month. Attention to detail is the hallmark of the rooms and the guest service. Become part of the family. You will not be forgotten.

A memorable stay with lovely hosts. The place has an incredible sense of history and very impressive grounds; perfect for a stroll to soak in the atmosphere. Beautiful rooms and much thought put behind the breakfast which had local delicacies. I will remember this stay (some places you just forget) and we will definitely return.

Short stay for a wedding in the surrounding area… Very beautiful, beautifully maintained property. The rooms are perfect, equipped with all modern comforts. Excellent breakfast with a far Breton fresh from the oven. A family history spanning several centuries… The owners are charming. We regret not being able to extend… We can only recommend!

Staying at this chateau is like visiting the home of some lucky friends. There is no reception, there is nothing that makes you think of a hotel, it is a chateau in the Breton countryside and that is the experience you have from the moment you hear the gravel when you arrive with the car. And so on until you leave this place and travel in time and through the history of a country as important to Europe as France. Simply exceptional.
