My stay at Daiichi Takimotokan as a solo traveler was absolutely unforgettable. From the moment I arrived, I experienced immaculate service from the attentive staff, who made traveling alone feel incredibly welcoming and seamless. Although they can be quite strict with the check in and check out time, they are really committed to make the room in perfect condition. I stayed in an East Wing tatami room, which was exceptionally clean, well-maintained, and offered a deeply relaxing, authentic Japanese atmosphere to unwind in. Location-wise, the hotel is unbeatable, as it is conveniently located near the entrance of Hell Valley, making it effortless to step outside and explore the stunning volcanic landscapes at my own pace. The highlight of my trip was undoubtedly the best onsen experience I have ever had. The sheer variety of hot spring baths and therapeutic waters overlooking the scenery was breathtaking and peaceful. To top it all off, the extensive buffet breakfast offered a magnificent spread of fresh local dishes that perfectly fueled my days of sightseeing. I highly recommend this beautiful ryokan for any solo adventurer and cannot wait to return!

A huge hotel, newly renovated. The room size was good. Location wise, walking distance to Jigokudani hell valley, other attractions and convenient stores and food outlets. A wide selections of food for breakfast and dinner.

Really enjoyed my stay here! Loved the room, the service and the wide range of amenities here. Brought my mom here for a relaxing day and I think she really enjoyed it! My favourite part of staying here is definitely the onsen! It's separated into male and female sections, and for the female section it had a multiple (10-ish?) indoor pools and 4 outdoor pools. I personally didn't really enjoy the indoor onsen as the air just felt so warm, but I really enjoyed the outdoor onsen! You can even order drinks like sake to enjoy as you soak in the onsen. One thing to note is that the female onsen does not have a view overlooking the hell valley, which believe can be seen in the male section... but I later discovered that in the swimming pool section, there's this outdoor area with a jacuzzi that overlooks the hell valley!! So that made up for it hahha. Anws, the hotel was also a walking distance to all the key attractions, which was really convenient! One last thing to note is that most restaurants in and outside of the hotel closes for break at 3pm, so you may want to come earlier to check in or eat lunch before checking in at 2pm, or else you will run in the same issue as we did, which was not being able to find FOOD and the only restaurants that were open were slow and overpriced... anw still highly recommend this place :)
