Recently had the pleasure on numerous occasions of staying at the Cottage Hotel for work purposes, The hotel is situated in a fantastic location being just a few miles away from the centre of Nottingham, the rooms are clean and nice touch with fresh shortbread each day of your stay. The food was excellent, what can I sat about the staff, they went the extra mile in everything I asked of them, from early morning wake up calls to the evening meals and drinks. They make the stay perfect Fantastic experience 10/10

My daughter booked the Country Cottage at Ruddington for Christmas dinner for twelve Family members It was the eleventh month on the date my wife Edith died whilst we were abroad. My family live and work not always in the Ruddington area. So it was an occasion for us all to be together. On arrival, we were told that the bar would only take card payments, not cash. Some guests wanted a gin and tonic there was no tonic available. When we entered The dining room we complained about the coldness of the room the manager bought in a small Dimplx heater assuring us that the heating had been on all night. We were put on 2 large tables. My daughter sat on the end of one to make more room for us all We were in the corner of the room which at the end there was a very large window with a bus stop outside. So when the bus unloaded its passengers we had people staring Through the windows, the Christmas meal was served, which took approximately 15 to 20 minutes. There were no complaints about the food. Apart from it could be quite a bit warmer The Coffee was served a bit mixed up but generally okay The restaurant itself was quite large bearing in mind. It was a Christmas meal There was one Christmas tree. No other decorations at all balloons or Christmas crackers whatsoever, and the lighting was very, very dark on inquiry about the crackers which you all know get the party spirits going .As you all know you tell funny jokes and wear paper hats? I was told that they had a green policy and that crackers were not Eco. Friendly I did go to see the manager in private. No one else was about when i went to pay the bill. And he asked me if everything was OK and I told him no I told him I was very disappointed with the general organisation of the meal. my family or public were not around. There was just myself and the manager which was quiet. He told me he was very sorry, and what could he do to put it right a bit late really? But he didn't charge for the price of the coffee. I did make contact with the owner and complained. She did ask me what she could have done better and I told her that was obvious. We have water jugs on the table. I didn't quite know what the other glasses were for she said for the wine, but we were never shown a wine list. I appreciate times are hard and costs are high but in a competitive world the customers are your future, As an aside. This restaurant catered for an occasion for 65 to 75 people celebrating the life of my wife who had recently died. It was always organised brilliantly, and that is why we went back for a Christmas dinner.

Called in for a coffee before braving the Christmas market on a freezing day. Went back for lunch! Delicious homemade steak & ale pie, mash & peas. Comfortable surroundings and polite, attentive service. We'll be back!

The rooms are very dated and not welcoming This is through out the b and b as we ended up in 4 different rooms. The first one was really dated not very clean and the shower screen did not work. The second room was a little better but the heating ,running water and kettle did not work.which they knew about but still wanted us to stay in for the night. The third one ,the ceilings were too low for my self at 6 foot 2 and was also told there would be noise around 12.30 to 1 am as the caretaker moves all the tables and chairs around for the next day .FINALY we was given a room that only the tv did not work which they knew about when questioned but that was the best out of 4. The evening meal came after around an hour but only 3 out of 4, the other was 20 mins later. The gravy was cold but did not realise till we poured it, so the meal had to go back while it was heated back up in the microwave. Then finally had to wait 10 mins after all the deserts had come out for a bowl off ice cream. The breakfast was barely warm on the second day and the pastries were stale.when we spoke to the lady in the dining room she insisted that they were fresh until we insisted she tried one .then agreed that they was not.We are not snobs that expect to much just a average middle aged, working couple that expected a nice short stay away for a break. We was given 1 nights fee back but would have rather paid full price and had a nice time.

We have recently had our wedding at the cottage hotel & just wanted to leave a review to pass on our thanks for making our day perfect. If you are thinking of booking a wedding 100% without a doubt book this venue. The room looked amazing for both ceremony and meal. Big, bright & airy! We loved the courtyard and bar area, lots of hidden corners for gorgeous photos. The food was amazing- everything from wedding breakfast/evening food and breakfast the next morning, all of it was lovely. All of our guests said how amazing the day was. The thing that made the day for us was how AMAZING the staff were. All very friendly and polite. Going out their way, from chatting & entertaining the kids to them helping elderly guests back to their chairs, nothing was too much trouble! big shout out to Katie and Tom for being amazing from start to finish, as were the rest of the team. Thanks again for making our day as special as it was. Laura & Keanan x
