Apart from the amazing Murchison Falls National Park, the Paraa Lodge Pool and bar are great. Whilst the lodge is due an upgrade - it is being planned for we hear - but the lodge is still comfortable and fully functional. Food has improved measurably in the last few months (i've stayed at the lodge a lot), with the new GM really focused on improvements. The staff are always smiling and helpful, and the welcome to the lodges is always with a lovely cool face towel and refreshing fruit juice. Our kids and family enjoyed everything - a great balance between safaris, swimming and rest.

I stayed here in March 2024 for one night. I was here on business but was able to enjoy the hotel and a safari operated by the hotel. The hotel is well kept. A traditional African style. Lots of wood and clean. The room was spacious and comfortable. I used the big fan next to my bed. Otherwise it would have been very hot. The view from my room was fantastic. Would definitely recommend the safari. The guide Hillary was great. Very knowledgeable and we seen all the animals (including the big 4). Would definitely recommend and would stay here again.

We enjoyed our stay very much. The view from our room was breathtaking...can see the Nile plus a gorgeous swimming pool with a bar.We swam there as often as possible and loved it. The food choice was limited but good.Staff were friendly and welcoming, and the manager introduced himself to us and we had some chit-chat. The rooms are large but perhaps a bit dated. They also offered toothbrushes and toothpaste in the bathroom as well as a shaving kit which I thought was a handy touch. All in all a pleasurable stay.

This should really be a 4.5. When we arrived, very tired after a long journey, the first thing we did after dumping our bags was go to the restaurant for dinner. That night it was a buffet, mainly indian food, and there was hardly anything left at 8.30 pm. When we asked if the trays were going to be replenished we were told no. I ended up with what I think was a vegetarian curry (the lighting was so dim). It tasted OK but I'm not a vegetarian. As we we were leaving we saw them replenishing the trays! The rooms (especially the bathroom), as others have mentioned, are very jaded and in serious need of updating. However the room was clean, the beds were comfortable and everything worked. The outlook from the balcony, over the pool and the Nile beyond was special. The majority of the staff were friendly and welcoming, especially Walter behind the bar. After the first night's bad experience the food got better - a la carte waiter service and a much better choice. We had a dip in the pool which was clean with comfortable loungers and fresh towels. The pool bar was great too!

My wife and I enjoyed a lovely couple of days in the lodge this month with attentive care and very friendly staff members always on hand to help out. The property was a delight and we could hear the hippos moaning to each other and the calls of numerous birds from our room and throughout the property. The restaurant had some delightful views and you had the option of eating outside on a balcony (with view of the Victoria Nile) or inside in air conditioning. Food was available to suit European/American and local Ugandan palates and there was always plenty of it. I was delighted to find decent filter coffee (instead of that pervasive Americano stuff) and a wide range of fresh juices and drinks. Our room was clean and very comfortable with a delightful balcony and comfy chairs set up on it. A couple of things we suggest for future use: please fix the lock on the door to room 14 was loose and hard to operate, and balcony door too was hard to push open or shut. We also felt that the food was slightly under par at times for the price being paid at the lodge. Although plenteous, some items were rather bland and seemed to be prepared in a hurry (e.g. bones in the fish fingers that were not really “fingers”, etc.). Also the very nice swimming pool needs to be cleaned more often—there were leaves in the pool several days old and there was an oily scum on the surface and no shower visible for guests to use to comply with the request we shower first before entering the pool. Frankly, I did not want to get into the pool again. These are suggestions to raise the bar on the lodge’s standards and otherwise great services.

This was such a relaxing place to end our 12 days in Uganda. The grounds are very well kept, the staff were very hospitable, and the food was excellent. Our favorite place to relax was by the beautiful infinity pool overlooking the Nile River.

Average stay. Pretty colonial style property. The hotel manager Ralph is polite, he tries his best to please the customer, but it seems that he does not have enough jurisdiction over major decisions. The bedroom is rather dark with an obsolete dilapidated bathroom. The water came out muddy and murky upon opening the faucet to wash my hands. Poor quality toiletries. It was hard for us since our luggage did not arrive by then so we had to contend with such poor products. The staff do not replace the tissue paper or toiletries once they run out. The towels are old and of a bad quality. They overcharge for the local drinking bottled water which is rather obscene in particular in such a remote area where drinking water is needed. The food is a buffet style. It was average. They could not even make us a normal basic salad as they ran out of ingredients. Whatever we asked for they did not seem to have. We were given a dreadful inedible bitter salad prior to our departure and the omelet which is mainly onions. There is a nice view from the property but it’s nothing to rave about. I would rate this hotel as a 3 star hotel although we paid an eye watering sum in line with a five star. I would not go back again.

The good points: old colonial building , beautiful wooden floors and rooms, situated on a Hill over looking the river Nile. The manger Ralve is very attentive and friendly and will do his best to please you. The staff are really what you expect from African people, wonderful friendly and do their best of what they know. The restaurants and bar area are big with a good view. Lunch is good and you can order what you want.Dinner is buffet but satisfactory. Good stocked bar with reasonable prices. The bad : the premises are baldy in need of maintainance and renovation. The rooms are small but adequate for Safari, but not for the price. The cooking is average if you like Indian or African food its good . The breakfast bran flakes were old , the eggs ! Very bad quality and below standard , no lettuce and low on Greens ( in Afica !) The pancakes were only OK,the maple imitation is bad. Worst is you have to pay for water ! When tap water is not drinkable. The Ugly ; to charge for cheap bottled water in the rooms ? and at breakfast! Cheap old towls ? Reasonable toliters but none was left the 2nd day, although corrected by the manager immediately. All in all staff need training including waiters head waiter , Chef , purchasing. Rating at best : average 4 stars at 5 star price . Needs a lot of work.
