Bastione Spasimo Boutique Hotel

La Kalsa
We spent a few nights in this newly opened boutique hotel created through a modern and fascinating renovation, within the walls of the Kalsa district of Palermo. Breakfast is of the highest quality with lots of choice and well presented. Our room, which overlooked the internal garden with swimming pool, was not large, but very pleasant, efficient and comfortable: we slept well. In front there is a small furnished and truly pleasant private garden area. The swimming pool is a pleasant and perfect refreshing oasis after visits and excursions for a swim or an aperitif. The location and the structure of the hotel itself made us appreciate the fascinating Kalsa neighborhood of Palermo even more

New structure with the pointing of things done well. Young and gentle staff. Very large and very high rooms, well furnished, with angle cooking, all new. Large bathroom with shower with hydromassage. Common spaces at closed and outdoor. Just next to the central station. Excellent quality/price ratio, very recommended.

The price is very high, the room is large and clean and tidy, and there is a balcony to see the outside scenery. It's really close to the train station. Although the external toilet is independent, the toilet is well decorated, clean and tidy. It is a type of homestay. When you come in downstairs, you may need to call to open the door remotely. The front desk will tell you where the key is. It is also very convenient to check out the next day. The fly in the ointment is that there is no elevator going up. I didn't eat breakfast, I don't know how.

Good location - though the street/alley on which the hotel is located is a bit off-putting. Comfortable room, OK AC. Not noise-proofed from the street which means you get an early wake-up call. Friendly staff - especially the restaurant staff Nice rooftop restaurant - we ate there the night we arrived. It was very good. (thereafter we ate at Cagliostro -highly recommended) Good breakfast - though the coffee is not up to the standard of the food. One niggle: When I paid the bill the night before we left, the hotel's machine would not process my card. Luckily, I only had the dinner and city tax to pay, so I had enough cash to cover it and to pay the taxi to the airport in the morning. My card had worked fine at Cagliostro restaurant about 15 minutes earlier and worked fine at the airport.

La Kalsa
Friendly reception staff, very large hotel room with full bathroom and walk in wardrobe, lovely restaurant, lots of seating options and lovely pool (not heated though). Great walking distance from botanical gardens and the old town part of Palermo as well as the marina front.

La Kalsa
We were only staying there one night but we did not appreciate the additional €20 charge when the night was included in our trip. The confusing explanation, and only in Italian, has allowed us to understand that it was a residence tax (3 euros per person), which we do not contest. It is noted that the stay tax on our first hotel on palerme was EUR 2. However, the tax on 7 euros on breakfast per person seems unfair. Because we could or wanted to take it, we left the places at 4:30 for our flight from Palermo. We tried to refuse this breakfast tax, arguing that our full night departure did not allow us to take it, but the person didn't want to know, and even took it. We do not recommend this place, even if very quiet in the cosmopolitan area and not very quiet of the station.
