My partner contacted settlers twice to inform them our arrival would be delayed due bad weather delaying the interisland Kaitiaki from birthing, My partner had difficulty comprehending the poor English spoken by the receiver., however we were told to call on arrival and where to get the key. We arrived at our destination between 8 -9 pm, my partner contacted settlers and had walked about a 100 meters along the road to collect the key. We were given the key to room 5 which we found used and uncleaned, dirty bath towel left on the dinning table bath room left in a used state, bed was unmade. My partner walked back to where he got the key, he received an apology and given the key for room 7. Room 7 was disheveled in appearances, , it stank over whelming of air diffuses one of which I put out side, couple of the pillows smelt musty greasy hair stale smelling. A rusting microwave sitting on wall brackets that had seen better days, the fridge ice box cover was broken, dirty hand marks around doors and handles, ranch slider sticking, chipping around mirror in shower room, a used flannel was left hanging in the shower, bathroom soap dispensers where empty or not working, hole in net curtain over kitchen bench, no tea towel, overall cleanliness and presentation of the room for $155 was of well below standards we have experienced else where. It was terrible. As it was getting very late by the time we were kept running back and forth, we stuck it out and could not wait to leave the next day, I do not recommend this place. I see their photos on the web site are glowing but they are nothing like what we were provided elsewhere, NZ is renowned for providing high standards in motel services. By all accounts this place was terrible. One more matter for concern, they had deducted money from my credit card before we had arrived, Disgusting behavior.
