Wyndham Grand Phu Quoc

This hotel, from its facilities to the rooms, all shared one theme: large but empty, giving off a dull, vast feeling. We booked a sea view room, but all we saw was the pool and a large water slide; the sea was just a distant glimpse. Complaining to the hotel was useless. The room size wasn't small, but besides the basic bed and table, there was nothing else. No facilities or decor to enhance the stay, it felt like going back twenty or thirty years. Then there's the service, riddled with rejection and defensiveness towards guests. Upon check-in, no room upgrade, no welcome drinks or fruit. To use the hotel's pool towels, you had to scan your room card and were limited to two towels. But there were three of us! And the worst part is, you *must* return them yourself; you can't leave them in the room. If not returned by the end of the day, they'd directly deduct 350,000 VND. Do they really think we're staying at their hotel to steal their old, used towels? The hotel doesn't accept UnionPay, despite having so many Chinese tourists. The staff's knowledge of the area around the hotel was also lacking. When asked where to use UnionPay for cash withdrawals or currency exchange, they just pointed to a distant tourist attraction. In the end, I had to figure out that the hotel's internal ATM would surely have such services and solved the cash problem myself. Entertainment facilities were scarce. We booked the room attracted by the large water slide in the photos, but it had very short operating hours and height restrictions. The children's play area was old, and the biggest play equipment was closed. The bar also had an open karaoke area, which was loud and noisy. Regarding hygiene, I'll just say one thing: at breakfast, a huge fly was struggling on the food serving area. After complaining to their uniformed manager, they simply removed the fly without any apology, and I didn't see them remove the food or clean the area. Finally, there were many Indian guests staying, so if that bothers you, be warned.

The hotel is a bit old. They initially assigned me a room at the very end of the hallway, which I really didn't like. I went downstairs to change rooms, and they sent me to 6001. When I got there, I couldn't open the door. After waiting for 10 minutes, they told me to go to 8228. That room had an indescribable smell. I won't be staying here again. The service gets five stars because the hotel offered a free shuttle to the airport, saving me over 100 HKD on transportation.
