Just returned from a week and a 1/2 stay at the Sonesta ES Fort Lauderdale, FL - Plantation - it was great. 1st - we got in screaming early and the front desk associate Kisha (!) found us a clean room (hotel was fully booked) and let us check in. She gave us lots of excellent recommendations for things to do, places to eat, events that will be taking place...whew! Awesome. 2nd - Our suite was great, clean, well-appointed and well situated. Because of covid, housekeeping doesn't come every day, but this wasn't an issue, you could get fresh towels, additional pillows and toilet paper from the front desk (easy-peasy). 3rd - FREE ample parking!! 4th - huge Publix grocery store across the street. Wow, this really helped us to save and 5th - great full-sized kitchen (there is also a gym/fitness center) and free washer/dryers. 6th - Free Breakfast - ok, because of covid, it is a take-away in a bag, but, umm - there are good selections to get you started on your day (biscuit with sausage/egg/cheese, cereals, coffee, tea, toast, bagels, boiled eggs, yogurt, muffins, juice) 7th - close to almost all of the great things that Ft. Lauderdale has to offer - and the Sawgrass Mills Outlet and about a 1/2 hour away from many other great places to see, do and eat. The staff is great, so friendly and helpful. I will DEFINITELY be back.

General Manager, Meredith I wished I could give a 5 star just because of you. You were amazing. I visited Florida for the first time in a few years for a function. We stayed at this hotel. I have a rare neurological disorder which causes lots of issues with my body including nerve damages. I was in a car accident years ago. I cannot walk or balance on my own. I cannot sleep on the floor because my lumbar and sacrum got injured because of the accident. If my lower back hurts I get something similar to a seizure (which I also suffer from) that’s call a spasm. Every muscles in my body will be contract and that causes difficulties breathing. Unfortunately the mattress was too hard. I tried telling them at the front office of my condition before I got there. The Jamaican girl working the overnight shift was so rude on 12th or 13th of July. It was worse when we got there. Not sure how these Jamaican girls got the job. I started thinking they were discriminated against me because of my disability. No empathy. Before we got there I called late at night because I just had a few questions. She hung up the phone on me twice. Apparently she had no answers and couldn’t be bothered with me. When we got there on Thursday the 15th we found out the bed was too firm. My husband went to get another blanket and they told him that was the last one. He didn’t asked them. That didn’t help. I was crying because I didn’t want to get a spasm. I woke up in so much pain, I couldn’t move. Thankfully a nice gentleman and the amazing General Manager was kind enough to offer to move us to another room. We asked if we could have the mattress changed because our room was more spacious fir me. She didn’t hesitated to change the mattress for us. She even had us checked two other rooms to see which mattress was more comfortable. The mattress was switched and it was perfect. The rude Jamaicans with no empathy for someone who is sick could have told us to wait to speak to the manager the following morning. Instead she asked if we wanted to check out? I didn’t tell that girl I wanted to check out in the middle of the night. I couldn’t believe what I was hearing. If you you are disabled do NOT go this hotel before speaking to the General Manager, Meredith. Thank you for making my stay comfortable on the 2nd day until we left.

I have been coming to the hotel for 23 years and have always enjoyed my stays. However, I don't think the new open foyer, bar and restaurant area works. I miss the intimacy of going to the bar and using the restaurant. People now just walk through those areas and out of the hotel, some with dogs and in large numbers, so there is no privacy left. The open area now resembles walking though an airport. The personal touch of hotel staff has also diminished and they now seem just to be doing their different jobs with very little customer engagement. This was always something that was a signature of the Sheraton Suites experience in Plantation. I would also recommend hiring professional bar staff who welcome customers and are keen to serve them, rather than make you feel as if you are inconveniencing them. On a cleanliness note, our room had a large dirty stain on the carpet which should either have been professionally cleaned or replaced before letting out to a customer. On the plus side, the external development has made some progress and a Mexican bar/restaurant named Tacocraft is a nice spot to visit in the afternoon or evening. It is situated only a few metres from the hotel. Although this provides some encouragement, progress on the development is slow and disappointingly our room overlooked a builder's wasteland.

#positive #I was happy with the Room Size, Convenience of Transport; #negative #I was disappointed with the Hotel Smell, Nearby Restaurants; Can't afford to stay at Hyatt Hotel in China. It's also expensive and low in foreign countries. As soon as the automatic door of the lobby opened the damp, rotten musty smell came on my face. I knew it was finished. Sure enough, the old room was even more unbearable! When choosing the hotel, seeing the renovation in recent years, the fact is, no! Not recommended

Gabby and Derek were charming as usual and the checking in process was great. The bathroom in my room had hair matted in a corner and an additional used wash cloth was hanging on the shower curtain rod. I still consider this hotel as one of my favorites and a hiccup or two won’t prevent me from coming back. The amenities and breakfast are nice and the staff are always pleasant and welcoming.
