Went for Sunday lunch with my wife and two dogs, the dogs weren't eating! The food is at best adequate. I had two slices of roast beef, three carrots, two roast potatoes that were not pleasant, one small piece of cauliflower, a small spoon of cabbage, a Yorkshire pudding and stuffing. I had expected far better quality and far more vegetables. My wife was quite ill in the evening although I was not. I had a couple of pints of long man session that was very good. I did feel the tables were a little crammed in and not really a drinkers pub anymore. The decor and refurbishment are quite pleasing and service was prompt and attentive although they were not that busy. I think it very unlikely I would eat here again but would happily stop for a drink.

We visited this pub at a friends birthday after a recommendation that he received. We had a previous experience when they first opened but it wasn’t a particularly remarkable experience but agreed to go to see if it had improved somewhat from our previous visit. The food was overpriced. The starters were not good enough for the cost of the portion. We had to request more pitta for the Hummus because a large bowl of Hummus for a few pitta was not good enough. Our mains of the duck leg and sausage cassoulet was had one cut of sausage (bite sized amount) and the burger buns were slightly burnt. I would not recommend going here again as overpriced for a very stark atmosphere and average tasting food.

We just had a drink after a long walk. Staff were friendly and helpful. Highlight was the new décor William Morris style furnishings and the whole place had a good feel. Close to the main road but village as well. Would definitely come back when next in the area.

Nice roast , belly pork quite fatty which may put others off. Nice veg choice although cauliflower cheese wasn’t saucy as you would expect. Lovely setting and was busy when we went. Give it a go! Sunny outdoor seating space to the front of the pub

The Long Man Inn is a beautiful pub, decorated with care, serving good honest food and good local beers. The only thing lacking there is a bit of atmosphere. It's all a bit too clean, the staff always seem stressed, looking down on muddy shoes which are an essential part of living in Sussex during winter. It would be better for everyone involved if they relaxed a little bit. Maybe there's too much light? Embrace being in the country. Relax. You've got a lovely place there, it's all going to be ok.

We love this inn and have been visiting for many years in its former iteration. The refurbished bar and en-suite rooms are so beautifully tasteful - I would have all the soft furnishings and pictures of Wilmington in my own house no problem! The food is wonderful and you know it will be locally produced/reared.

Impromptu visit on a Saturday lunchtime. Both my husband and I had the Flying man chicken burger, he had a couple of pints of Long man pale ale and I had soft drinks. Really welcoming, nicely decorated and friendly efficient staff. Pleased we ended up here. Our food was lovely and very fresh. Will definitely be back.

3 of us had lunch here on New Year's Eve. Service was slowish but polite and competent. We'd expected slightly generic pub food but were v impressed - the salmon and prawn 'special' was beautifully cooked and flavourful, and my companions loved their roast chicken and nut roast. Lovely to see this pub open again

The Long Man Inn has clearly had some money spent on it and presents as a nice gastro-pub. I was impressed to see bike parking to the side, there’s an amazing new cycle route with 50m of the front door along the A27, and I’m surprised more businesses along this stretch have not taken that into account and looked to maximise the opportunity. The often-tricky subject of gendered toilets has been tacked head on with “All Gender Thunderbox” labelling on the clean and well provisioned individual toilets. The pub prob also has the single largest collection of Long Man artwork, pictures and paraphernalia in the country and I think it’s great to see them embracing and celebrating the icon that they are named after. We only had a quick single course lunch on our visit. The service was polite enough id didn’t see or experience nay rudeness, but there was a lack of ability. The menu is not extensive, but they do have a couple of different burgers with different names. When I ordered the Long Man burger, I watched as the waitress wrote ‘burger’, my wife ordered the vegan stew and this was recorded as ‘stew’. Predictably 5 minutes later she came back to ask which actual burger I wanted. 5 minutes after that, another visit, and a check if we wanted the venison stew of the vegan one. I can only imagine how the chef must have been banging their head on the counter and muttering about not being a mind reader. The food was slow to come out taking 40 or 50mins which I thought might happen and was the primary reason we had only ordered a single course. The vegan stew was really good, great flavour and well put together, the chips were good and the burger was nice, though it was a little overcooked. It was a shame that it was over cooked as the elements were clearly good quality and it had the potential to be a great burger. The next table had the macaroni cheese and that looked like a real winner, so despite the mixed review I will be back to that. The place is nice, somebody had invested time and effort into both venue and menu, but it’s being let down at the moment by a slow and inexperienced front of house service that could easily be fixed if they chose to address it.
